1. Hey guys, the 7 year battle with problem skin has finally shown some results! I had literally tried everything to combat spots ranging from antibiotics to benzoyl, gels to over the counter medicines and nothing ever worked. However, since the start of March I tried a new regime due to the fact that I read somewhere that spots (non hormonal) are caused by two main reasons 1)bad diet and 2) the liver not being able to cleanse your blood properly. I did some research and found that coc
2. can i take 50mg zinc while taking spironolactone? will this help? ADVICE PLEASE
3. Hello! About 2-2.5 weeks ago, I started drinking 3-5 cups/day of green tea, as well as mixing it in with my daily moisterizer (Aveeno Clear Complection), which I apply 3-5 times per day. Over the course of 1 week, I noticed this made a huge improvement, but it was not clearing up everything. Then, I began taking Zinc (25mg/day), Vitamin B6 (100% DV), Vitamin B12 (100% DV), Vitamin C(>100%), and Brewer's Yeast (6 tablets a day w/food) in addition to Vitamin A (100% DV), which I had already be
4. The acne regimen is not an effective method in permanently stopping acne. It just masks the symptoms. Here are the causes of acne, and how to permanently stop acne. Hormones - Most of acne is caused by hormones. Certain hormones signal the skin to produce more oil and sebum, which causes acne. The ONLY way to stop acne permanently is to shrink these things permanently. One fact that isn't as known as it should be is that DAIRY PRODUCTS CONTAIN TONS OF HORMONES. You should stay far away from
5. I've incorporated 30mg of zinc and have been taking it for about 2 weeks now. My cycle started yesterday and my cramps are HORRIBLE. Having bad cramps for the first couple of days is the norm for me, but this is BAD. Like, ibuprofen is barely helping and I am often hunching over type of bad. I thought zinc is usually supposed to have a positive influence on the menstrual cycle, not worsen it. Could this just be a fluke?
6. I just wanted to update anyone interested in holistic methods for acne what I have been doing recently. I learned about Arachidonic Acid (AA) which is highly inflammatory and what Omega 6 is converted to in the body. AA metabolizes into all the inflammatory compounds; especially leukotrienes and prostaglandins. I learned that you need to redirect how your body deals with PolyUnsaturated Fatty Acids (PUFA's) towards the anti-inflammatory compounds. I realize that there is a balance. We already kn
7. Ok, so there is multiple variations of Zinc out there, and I don't know which one would be the best to choose from: -Chelated Zinc -Zinc Glucose -Zinc Picolinate Those are the three types of Zinc I've read about that best work for combating hormonal acne. Accutane, Doxycycline, BP, Retin-A, Tretinoin cream, and Tazorac have not worked for me, so don't suggest them please. I've read the symptoms for lack of Zinc and I match every single one of them. I'm definitely taking Zinc no matter
8. Hey all, I've been taking Doxycycline 200mg a day (two 100mg tablets; one every 12 hours) for the past month and a half, and honestly, I have seen almost no results with my acne. In fact, I believe it has gotten worse periodically. My acne is 100% hormonal and my skin is of oily nature, and I've taken doxycycline before but with huge results (left me clear 2 years ago for around 3 months). My acne has been consistently on my jaw and chin and lower cheeks. I was reading online that breako
9. Hey, I just to get some personal feedback and experience for those who have taken zinc for their acne? I am currently looking for ways to help with my scars and get rid of those little bumps that take forever to go away. Anyway, please share, thank you Below is my current regime: Morning -Wash face a gentle cleanser by my derm (I lather the gel and pat on my face using the palms and then using my fingertips on those confined areas.) -Soak Epsom salt with water and spread the mixture
10.
I need your opinion guys. I wanna add zinc to my daily supplements but I'm not really sure how to go about it. For starters, I'm 18 years old and I only take vitamin c everyday. I'm 95% clear now (started my own regimen 13 weeks ago) but I wanna get to 100%. I've done some research about zinc and found some really good reviews about it I just need some more from people on this site. Thanks!

11. Where to start?... I have just come off Accutane in March and now I am back to square 1, I have spots again. I have since tried Vitamin D3 at 3200iu a day for 4 months, Zinc 45mg a day for over a year, Vitamin C 1000mg a day for over a year. I am now trying witch hazel with 600mg dispersible aspirin as a toner am and pm. I got the idea from acne.org, this website has been so helpful to me with such a wealth of information, the best thing is that the information comes direct from pe
12. Hello I am 25, have had acne since I was 13. When I was a teenager, my acne was moderate. In the past I have tried a lot of commercial products such as neutrogena, clearasil, clean and clear, oxy, to name a few. When I was about 19 started using Proactiv. It helped me tremendously, but after about a year it started to get worse. Up until January 2013, I continued to use Proactiv because it helped heal my acne much faster than anything else. It didn't stop acne from coming, but it helped. The

14. Alright, so I'm only 19, but the reason I'm posting this in the Adult Section is I believe this is a more adult problem. It's gonna be a long post, but I'd read it cause it might help you out. But first, let me give you guys a timeline. So in September I shipped off for Navy bootcamp and and within a week of being there broke out like crazy. I've never really had acne in my life an sir was everywhere; my back my face my chest. It was bad. Got outta bootcamp, and instead of it getting better,

17. So today is the day that after alot of consideration i start accutane. Mainly making this log for my own benefit so i can track stuff easier down the line but maybe it will be of use to someone else on here so here we go! Background Acne runs in the family. My mum especially had a big battle with cystic acne right through her teens to early twenties. So it was no surprise that i have problems with Acne. I have had it ever since i was 12/13 which was just teenage spots which i controlled with o
18. I haven't started accutane yet, but I have been taking zinc and it's been helping keep my acne at bay. Btw, if you get constant breakouts due to severely oily skin like me, zinc has helped me quite a bit. But accutane is the only thing that will target the oiliness issue so I'm be taking a very small dosage (10 mg a day), so anyone know if it'll be ok to still take zinc (30-50 mg a day) once I'm on accutane?
19. I've had acne for about four years now, since I was 15. Years ago, I used to get acne on both my cheeks and my forehead area. My acne has always been pretty much mild, I usually only have 1 - 2 moderate sized pimples on my face at a time. If it's a bad breakout maybe 4. However, now, it seems that my acne's changed. I rarely break out on my forehead anymore. The last time I had a pimple there was five months ago, and before that pimple, the last one was five months before as well. In the pas
20. Hi, I’m 14 years old. I’m a guy. I have had acne since I was in 6th grade. I am now in 9th grade. I only got a few pimples on my cheeks and more on my forehead. A couple months ago I started to break out a lot more. I remember I didn’t wash my face one night because I was really tired. That was a big mistake. After that I started to use a Olay facial cleanser tool(BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE!). I thought it would work but it made my skin worse. Recently it got a little better but not much. I’m no
21. well, i thought i'd write about it since this is the clearest my face has been in a long time. what i think has helped me is the recent addition of Flaxseed Oil supplements to my daily routine. although i am not entirely sure that these are solely what has helped me, i am nearly certain because it is the only thing different i have been doing and as soon as i started taking them my acne seems to have subsided. i'll try to be concise and spare my life story... i take Nature Made organic flaxse
22. Hi everyone, I just wanted to take a moment to share what I've been through and what I've tried pertaining to acne and how it's affected me. I used to use these forums quite frequently actually, rushing to the store to try new regimens and treatments. Some worked, some didn't. Anyways, this forum really helped me out and I just wanted to shed some light on what I've tried and hopefully it'll help someone out like it did me. 1)proactiv - this stuff really works. it cleared my face up within a
23. Good morning everyone! As you might now if you followed my posts, I had a cyst breakout around last June 15th. Three cysts came out of nowhere. I have been fighting with acne since my teenage years. I am now in my early 30s, and I don't remember a spotless face since 15. I decided to change my regimen, and I started a course of 50mg Zinc per day (25mg day / 25mg evening). I also started using mineral water with some drops of tea tree oil to wash my face. Since 5 weeks, no new cysts. Noth
