  1. Hi I'm a 17 year old male and have had acne since 13/14. I never get cystic acne but I have a face full of medium sized red dots. I used benzoyl peroxide with clindamycin as phosphate 1% and benzoyl peroxide 5% last summer and my face was almost completely cleared but I still had about 15 red spots on either side of face so I went to my doctor again because my prescription was used up and she prescribed Epideo to finish clearing up my face. Ok, that is when ALL HELL broke LOOSE! I started breaki
  2. WEEK 11 (2.5 MONTHS): - I stopped posting for a while because midterms started coming up and I got very busy. I think I may be posting less frequently though as i don't see me having any skin epiphanies anytime soon lol - I have currently a few spots (active) and a lot of healing ones on my cheek (those honeslty kind of come and go and I swear it's due to not washing my makeup brushes frequently enough) - I have not had any super inflammed or itchy/painful hormonal spots around my mouth an
  3. WEEK 5: - last week I took my zinc pill at 1pm, literally right around the time I take my birth control pill and I started to bleed the next day and for many days after, barely stopped yesterday actually, I also broke out - It's finally getting better, it wasn't super terrible but it was a bad breakout generally - don't really have much more to update, I feel like next week will show more improvement overall, so here are some pictures:
  4. hey guys! it's been so long since i updated. retin a really does make your skin smooth but it has made mine shiny (bc my skin is now thin) but whatever i really dont mind. still not clear though but my acne has been SIGNIFICANTLY reduced. and it f idk if it's because of teh vitamins im taking (d3,a,zinc,niacin) or really because of retin a. anyway will update u guys if anything better happens. and when ppl say that retin a makes pimples go away fast, it really is legit. it's like it hastens pim
  5. feeling really discouraged right now because i'm getting a lot of negative feedback from a lot of users that i should stop retin a as it didn't do anything for them. switched brands just last week and i don't know if i'm breaking out because of that or i dont even know anymore my skin is really ugly right now. pimples everywhere, bumpy texture on my forehead, clogged and large pores, pustules, hyperpigmentation, scars (thank God i only have like one deep scar that the retin a can kind
  6. Sooo.. just thought I'd use this as a place to track everything I'm doing for my skin. If I log, maybe I'll stay on track! Was doing low gi for a few weeks, my skin was getting so much better. Also started juicing a bit and taking extra supplements... until my best friends bday last week and my bfs bday a couple of days ago. Today, I now have about 6 new zits that just sprouted overnight. Could've been anything really.. lIquor, cookies, burgers, brownies, pizza, etc. I'm starting new
  7. Issue: Congestion on forehead/hairline Solution: Discontinue Shampoo & substitute baking soda as Shampoo(only on roots/scalp) 1x week for my curly hair.+Vitamins! This has immensely helped.I even went to the doctor to have my hormones checked, they turned out to be "normal".I also stopped using aloe vera gel in my hair and continued with my Bain De Terre smoothing gel avoiding hairline. I am extremely surprised and happy with the results. I wish i had done this sooner. I also use tea t

    Week 1

I've decided to document my struggle with my skin. I'm hoping it will help me keep on tack in some way. I can update once a week or so and let you guys know what's working for me. New Stuff: - Started zinc supplements - 25mg/d - Continued taking my multivitamin + mineral - Went to 9 pharmacies looked for b5. Had some dummy tell me "b5 doesn't exist" tried to figure out a way to order it to my nice wonderful 3rd world haven without it coming up to the equivalent of $50USD or more a bo
  9. Well, i took my first 30mg of optizinc and no stomach irritation whatsoever. Its only the first day but i heard good reviews on how it is less irritating. lets see how this goes....
  10. I have been using Tretinoin microsphere gel 0.1% and Minocycline 100mg (twice a day) for a couple of months now and I was on the acneeinstein.com website and the suggestion of taking zinc/Vitamin D3 pills was suggested. I wanted to ask and see if it was ok that I take these pills along with the medications that have been prescribed to me? thanks in advance.
  11. I started developing severe cystic acne when I was 20. They were huge red cysts with three heads each that would grow on both cheeks (almost symmetrically), and wouldn't stop being inflamed for two weeks at a time. It was ugly and really painful, and they left marks that would not go away for atleast three months and scars that are still on my cheeks. As I went from acne-free to covered in horrible red acne and scars on my face I became depressed and lost five kgs. I also started to *lose m
  12. So I've been using Jojoba oil, zinc oxide and benzoyl peroxide for the past week. Zinc with benzoyl does not seem like a good idea since my skin got super dry after I washed it. I've got cystic acne on me cheeks, I believe its from touching/pillow but the oil production hasn't decreased yet and zinc is working like a charm(not sure if it's good in the long-run tho). Has anybody else tried doing this? How can I modify this routine to get more results? btw going to stop using bp and see if anythin
  13. Hello everyone, I am 22yo female half black and half white. I suffered from acne since I was 13yo : extremely oily skin, black and white heads, occasionnal big painful zits as well as some cystic acne. I live in Paris France, where it's cloudy and cold most of the time. I'm inside an office all day. I wash my face and body with Dudu Osun, African black soap. I use Dudu Osun on my face to remove make up, then I cleanse it with jeunesse global luminesce cleanser. I've been keeping this c
  14. During my many years struggling with mild cystic acne and after seeing many different Dermatologists, who put me on many different medications (including Accutane), I discovered that I must be the one to resolve my acne. If I was ever going to manage my acne, I must be proactive and study my skin in order to understand my acne disease process. So I began reading all I could about the skin and what role it plays with the body. Then I systematically examined my skin, trying to figure out what w
  15. How's it going everybody! Well, I'm new to participating in this community (long time reader and site-surfer) and I need to figure something out. Recently, about 2 weeks ago, I adopted an entirely new diet; one that I hope will assist with finding the real underlying reason for my acne. A little bit of background: I've had acne since I was 13 years old - I'm 18 now and heading into college (I'm a guy by the way). At first it was mild/slightly moderate with occasional inflamed pimples. I went

  17. Hey guys, I've stumbled upon several different consumer products that can help strengthen and heal skin affected by acne. Well, common ones are the vitamin Ester-C, skin support tablets by Blackmores(meant for acne skin),Zinc and acne formulations that contain herbs such as Burdock, Sarsaparilla, Echinacea and Sassafras. These can help skin that is suffering from active acne and needs extra help to clear up. A little more effective for skin that is already recovering from acne is IG6. This pr

  22. There are so many guides out there about mineral makeup! There are so many ingredients that can be put into mineral makeup. Some are good and some are not so good. There is also a lot of bad hype about certain ingredients that is simply not true. Another note about ingredients. Mineral makeup doesn't generally contain what people like to call "fillers". I have not seen an ingredient in my research that does not have some form of use in each product. So, I don't consider anything liste
  23. Revised due to: caffeine's effect on melatonin, and folate's ability to influence light-induced melatonin suppression. Morning EGCG + caffeine along with moving folate intake to evening is about the only significant trick I've discovered in the last couple of years. Recap: Zinc is one of the longest-studied nutrients that correlates with statistically significantly less acne. Some months years ago, I discovered that around 200mg/day of zinc picolinate could, under some circumstances, make m
  24. Hello, I once suffered from pretty severe acne. Perhaps between moderate and severe, everyday I would feel self conscious about it and it put me into a significant depression. I recall it consuming my entire life, I would literally hide my face and stray away from people around. Could you believe I would even skip college classes due to a breakout? I would actually see my face in my car mirror and feel disgusted by my appearance and I would just hide in my car until class ended. I just couldn'
