  1. Hi readers, I apologize for not updating in awhile, but I hadn't had much change to write about until now. I just entered my 4th month on Zenatane and have noticed a few new things. First off, my skin is about 99% clear right now! Its a wonderful feeling to be able to just walk outside without any makeup on and feel confident. I have noticed some minor scaring and a few very tiny ice pick marks but I am trying not to be too concerned about them because I know isotretenoin can make scars more
  2. Hey guys! I'm so glad to be getting some feedback on this blog from you! I am more than willing to answer any and all questions you wanna ask me, so please never hesitate to leave comments! Anyways, I'm approaching my last week of month 2 and I'm starting to see some real results...hooray! After increasing my dosage to 60mg, I did experience another initial breakout which was a bit disheartening but totally normal. As of now, my forehead is a bit of a war zone again but below my eyebrows
  3. This whole time I was eagerly waiting to start month 4 because during my last round I took photos as often as I could remember and it w after month 3 that I noticed a definite improvement in my skin. And, I can say that has held true! I don’t have any major breakouts. I don’t still have quite a few very small unnoticeable comedones on my chin that I honestly don’t know if they’ll ever come to surface if I don’t aggravate them. I sort of want them out, tho. Is it worth the break out and potential
  4. So it's been yet another week! If you're keeping up with my journey then you'll know that I recently went back to my 80mg a day. So far, it's worked fabulously. My skin has cleared up from my acne that I had before. There is still some there but not... a whole lot. My neck has majorly improved. I have some pictures in my album that aren't uploading at this exact moment but keep an eye out! Unfortunately, the paronychia has also returned. I've been trying to take my 2, 40mg pills as fa
  5. Two posts in one day?! WHat?! Yeup. 2 posts. 1 day. I just had a story (ok, more of a rant) that I wanted to share with you guys about CVS Pharmacy and Zenatane. So, if you're on accutane or isotretinoin, you probably... aren't on "accutane" or "isotretinoin." Instead, you're probably on something like "absorbica," "roaccutane," "claravis," or (like me) "zenatane." If you've been following my accutane journey, which is currently starting its 4th month, then you know all of the
  6. Greetings ladies and gentlemen, So, it’s been yet another week but it’s been pretty easy I guess. I was off of my accutane for 6 days. Why? Well I guess my insurance covers accutane but only under the name of “zenatane” so every time my derm writes the prescription for “accutane”, my insurance doesn't allow my pharmacy to fill it and phone calls have to be made and it takes forever. So, it was not filled until the night of my last day to pick it up when I was completely unavailable so calls to
  7. Acne Status: I went to the dermatologist today to check in, get my blood work done, and refill my prescription! I’ve been getting used to the dryness and occasional flare-ups and things are slowly but surely starting to clear! My dermatologist increased my dose of Accutane to 80 mg a day (Two 40mg capsules per day). Not sure how I feel about this, but hopefully it’s a good thing. My chest is SOOO clear right now it’s so nice feeling confident in my swimsuit! My back is getting better, but still
  8. I've been a silent observer to this website for a very long time. So long in fact that I have already made the life-changing decision to begin an Isotretinoin treatment and am currently on my 47th day of treatment. Reading so many other blogs has inspired me to create my own, especially when I've experienced the difference it has made for me to read the commentary so many others have provided throughout their Iso journey. So even though they will probably never read this, thank you to all of the
  9. From the album: Accutane Journey (Zenatane)

About 3 1/2 weeks in, wearing make up. Not much improvement but I don't have as much cysts as before. Skin is beginning to dry up more making it harder for my make up to not look so cake-y. I have my dermatologist appointment this week so hopefully he prescribes me something topical for my scarring and hyper pigmentation. Not bad for the first month.

  11. From the album: Accutane Journey (Zenatane)

I had met with my dermatologist for the first time and was prescribed the antibiotic Doryx (doxycycline hyclate) and had about a month to wait for my blood work reports to show that I was able to get on accutane. Since I was only on these for a month, I never fully saw results just the initial break out which was the worst break out I have ever had. I had cysts popping on my cheeks and jawline, areas where I don't usually get cystic acne. I wasn't too worried about it though because I knew that
  12. From the album: Accutane (Zenatane) Journey

Here is a picture of my accutane rash from a couple of days ago when it was at its worst. I didn't get any pictures of my arms but I did take this one. The rash is red, raised, bumpy, and scaly. The very tops of it are slightly yellow and it hurts when disturbed. Water and then air hurt like a mother and the pressure of putting on lotion is not worth the pain that it causes.
  13. From the album: Accutane (Zenatane) Journey

Face is finally improving along with my neck. Got some small blemishes here and there but thank god it's clearing up! Still have 4 or 5 cystic heads but at least they don't hurt and they're not red anymore.
  14. From the album: Accutane (Zenatane) Journey

General update. The right side of my face is currently the worst.
  15. From the album: Accutane (Zenatane) Journey

Picture for reference. Going into my 3rd month and have been off of the meds for 6 days now due to pharmacy issues. Neck has calmed down since the last time y'all saw it. It's not so much cystic heads as it is red or white pustular heads. Isn't too painful unless I pick at it. They're all pretty poppable but come back really fast.
  16. From the album: Accutane (Zenatane) Journey

Picture for reference. Going into my 3rd month and have been off of the meds for 6 days now due to pharmacy issues. Face has kinda calmed down and you can see my chest getting kinda bumpy but not red. You can see my face is kinda red and it really is like that all the time. Luckily, make up covers it fine.

Face has kinda calmed down and you can see my chest getting kinda bumpy but not red. That line of cystic/ pustular acne on the right side of chin has been with me for a WHILE now - can't remember how long but it's been at least a month if not the whole process. You can see my face is kinda red and it really is like that all the time. Luckily, make up covers it fine.

Pictures mostly for reference but my neck acne is getting pretty bad.
  20. From the album: Accutane (Zenatane) Journey

So... who knew ingrown toenails were a side effect of accutane?? Not me!! This is a cleaned up picture of it. Before, it had scabbed over and the top was crusty but the part closes to my skin was still soft, meaning that it was, at that time, open or had recently been open. ANY IDEAS ON HOW TO FIX THIS... please? It hurts
  21. From the album: Accutane (Zenatane) Journey

So, based on the picture I posted yesterday, you can 100% see that my acne is getting worse more along my cheeks and forehead now though there are some heads popping up along the very bottom of my chin and jawline. Pictures on the Left are of the peeling (both of my face and lips) on a daily basis even after a good mask worth of moisturizing lotion. Pictures on the Right are of my face AFTER washing it with my Neutrogena Gentle Face Wash, exfoliating with just a towel while the skin is still
  22. From the album: Accutane Journey (Zenatane)

Here's a comparison from about my first month on accutane vs the last month. The picture on the right was right before my initial breakout and the one on the right was after a long day. Pretty happy that I no longer get cystic pimples. I still get very small whiteheads around my lip area but my derm prescribed me a topical cream which has been zapping them away.

    Day 40

From the album: Zenatane Progress Photos

Day 40 at 40 mg twice a day. I was feeling the best about my skin so far at this point! I ran a 5k this day in the beautiful but extremely humid Charleston, SC this day which accounts for a good deal of that redness. Everything on my face was flattening down and my skin was feeling so smooth. Starting to feel like a turn around!

    Day 20

From the album: Zenatane Progress Photos

20th dose at 40 mg, once a day. This was the start of my initial break out. Frustration levels were pretty high. Sorry for the weird screenshot on this one!

    Day 10

From the album: Zenatane Progress Photos

This photo was taken on my 10th dose, 40 mg once a day. My face was getting pretty irritated and burn-y at this point. But my skin was already improving!!
