    4th week on Yasmin

The first month is over (: It's my first day on my stop week after 21 pills. My skin is still the same, haven't noticed any major improvements of my blemishes. In the last 2 weeks I've only gotten a few big pimples on my forehead. On my cheeks are still the blemishes from my initial breakout. I'm starting today with a new skincare product, Paula's choice 2% BHA lotion. It claims to brighten up my post acne marks. Hopefully it will do his job. Overall it was a good first month and I hope my perio
  2. My chest is almost clear. My back is better with very few spots. My neck is better but still breaking out a bit. My cheeks are clear. The breakouts on my chin were a tiny bit less than usual and less painful this week. I've had a few spots pop up along my jawline which I usually never got so I'm guessing these are hormonal. I've had a few small spots around my mouth. My nose still has blackheads but is really smooth. My chin and around my mouth are still my problem areas.
  3. Hi, I've been on Yasmin (birth control) for 6 months now. And I notice that I always break out around my placebo week. My GA told me that skipping my placebo week would solve the problem. My fear is that it will aggravate it even more since there is no week for everything underneath my skin to come out (if that makes sense?). Also sooner or later I have to take a placebo week, so won't I have acne anyways? If anyone have experience with skipping your ''period'' week on birth control. Did i
  4. After being severely depressed about my face, I finally went back to the doctors to be put on something else. A little history first. I have had acne since I was 12/13. It was worse back then than it is now, which is weird because when I was 12-15 I didn’t care about my acne. It was never “severe” but I still had quite a lot. When I was 14 my mum asked if it bothered me and that I could have it treated. I didn’t care too much and I was like eh why not? And was put in zineryt lotion. That cleare
  5. Hi im a 17 year old girl and ive had acne for the past 4 years but ive been getting spots since ive been 11. Its the usual story, ive tried everything including zinteryt, benzoyl peroxide, duac, lymecycline, tetracyline ( been on antibiotics for the past 2 years) and also differin cream and 3 types of birth control. My acne was never on my cheeks until i started using birth control and now its only gotten progressively worse. Ive tries microgynon which gave me headaches, the implant which made t

  7. From the album: My Journey through Sronyx + Acanya + Doxycycline + Yasmin (and Vi Peel) + Retin-A 0.025 + Differin 0.3% + 1% Clindamycin 5% Benzol Peroxide

It's almost been a year since I went to a dermatologist to get my acne under control, and I'm so so glad I did. Progress takes time, and it couldn't be more true than in this instance. Here's what has happened in the last few months, since there is a pretty big gap in between my last post: DOXYCYCLINE: Doxycycline, although I'm sure was helping my skin, turned out to be a killer instrument in destroying my intestines, and I'm sure my liver. I was getting what I call stomach panic attacks
  8. Hello everyone, I am writing this for advice, support or to ask if any has had any similar experience? I am 36, have been on Yasmin on & off for a number of years. Never had any skin issues, except when I tried to switch from Yasmin to Belara about 2 years ago. I use Differin nightly to this day ever since as a precaution… Now I’ve decided to stop Yasmin for various reasons. I’ve taken my last Yasmin end of September & had some minor spots on sides of chin end of November, wh
  9. So I will try to condense down my skin history, which could probably rival one of the later harry potter books, into just a paragraph. It all started around the age of 14 and as I am rapidly approaching the grand old age of 24 that will be 10 years battling with my uninvited friends. I have tried most antibiotics, birth control, prescription and over the counter lotions and potions and have even had a course of accutane. The accutane did improve things massively and I was lucky enough to not hav
  10. Month one of Yasmin my skin got pretty clear (but that may have been due to the tetralysal which I've been taking for 3 months now) However, now I'm nearing the end of the second pack and have been breaking out since about the second week of pack two.... Is this normal? If so how long does the initial breakout usually take to end?
  11. Hey everyone! I've been tracking my skin for more than a year now, and I finally have the skin I've been dreaming of (REGULAR NORMAL SKIN haha). I thought I'd post my progress and gallery here, hoping it might help anyone who was on the same journey or has had similar side effects. Things I went through, got rid of, or kept forever: Yasmin Differin 0.3% Retin-A 0.025 Doxycycline 100 mg Sronyx 1% Clindamycin 5% Benzol Peroxide Acanya First Aid Ultra repair Cream
  12. Hi everyone! I'm very new to this site and I've actually been using it for a long time as more of an information seeker than actual member but this time I need some help and advice! I've had moderate acne for the past year or so and in January of this year I started a course of Ro-Accutane (UK) 20mg a day. Its been almost 4 months and although the oiliness of my skin has virtually disappeared I've still had painful breakouts in fact at the moment I have around 7 painful bumps on my face. The
  13. Just finished my second pack of Yasmin and am in the break week, however my forehead has suddenly become really rough feeling and I've noticed small bumps all over it (although only visible in certain lighting) Some of them have turned into whiteheads, others have been there for a few weeks now and don't seem to be disappearing... wondered if anyone else has experienced this and if it's just an initial breakout and will subside? The fact that the bumps seem more like clogged pores than actua
  14. Have a week until I start month four of Yasmin and am still breaking out ): My skin is maybe slightly less oily, however I haven't seen much change in it. Month one my skin felt really smooth (am also taking Tetralysal and started that a month before Yasmin, so may have been due to that kicking in?), month two I had a lot of small skin coloured bumps on my forehead which I never usually get, and month 3 I've started to get quite a few whiteheads. However, my cheeks which are always clear have s
  15. Hello Everyone, I'm 21 years old and female and I've never suffered with acne (even in my teenage years). Of course, I would sometimes get a pimple or two, but nothing bad. From about age 16-20 I was on and off various birth control (Dianette for a year at first, and then Microgynon 30 for a couple of years) and never really noticed anything in particular affecting my skin. About a year ago I came off Microgynon 30 and didn't notice any real change in my skin other than monthly breakouts (onl
  16. Hello, I need some help, recently I've been breaking out really bad and need some advice, I'm not sure what sort of acne I have, I've. always had spots. here and there but I'm 20 now and my skin has never been worse, surely it's supposed to calm down by now ? Anyway im really unsure on what 'sort' of acne I hav' on my left side it's mostly on my cheek and on the right side it's on my cheek and in the centre of my face as well as the corner of my chin. and I always scar really badly no matter wh
  17. Hi guys, so I have been on the contraceptive pill Yasmin for 9 days now in order to treat my acne and I regret it to some extent because since taking it my acne has just gone 1000x worse. It's probably worth mentioning that I have PCOS. I'm going to update my progress on here if anyone is interested in following it I'd like to hear some of your experiences with Yasmin too! What im currently taking: Duac Yasmin I just started taking Vitamin A supplements because I have heard many
  18. Wondering if anyone can help me.. I have been on Yasmin for nearly 8 months for birth control and to help with acne. However, when I recently went to get another pack of pills, they told me Yasmin is now called Lucette. After some research I found out that Lucette is actually a completely different pill that has the same active ingredients as Yasmin but is much cheaper to produce and therefore more cost effective for the NHS. At first I was annoyed that I was lied to by the doctor, but I'm willi
  19. Hi im just wondering if anyone on here has tried Yasmin for adult hormonal acne? I have had a blood test and am waiting for a scan for PCOS as the doctor thinks i have it. I was given yaz to try before any of this came to light but I decided against it after reading horror stories online. Im currently on the acne.org regimen and I really don't think it's working and ive seen mixed reviews on its effectiveness for hormonal acne.

I just switched birth control pills from Orsythia (generic for Allese) to Yasmin. I'm on my second month and if anything my skin's worse. Is this normal? How long until I see improvements?
  21. Hi everyone, Back in October I switched to Yaz, and for about 2 months I broke out pretty consistently but after those two months my skin was amazing. The only problem was I lost my period completely. I could induce a period with Vitamin C but that made me break out -- for a while it was clear skin, or my reproductive health. So I went to the doctor, and after a lot of research I asked her if I could switch to Yasmin because I figured it's in the same drug family so the adjustment might no
  22. Hi guys, I need some advice/help/experiences please. Essentially, I want to quit my Yasmin pill for various personal reasons, but I'm concerned my acne is going to come back, and the internet seems to confirm this! But, as I have recently undergone a second course of Roaccutane, I don't know if I need to worry. I started Yasmin in July 2013 and started my second course of Roaccutane in October 2013, so the Yasmin has been with me throughout the healing process. By June 2014 my skin was goo
  23. Hello. I've been part of acne.org for the longest time, I've tried pretty much everything over the course of many years, 20 years. Too long if you ask me. A year ago, I had an "aha" moment. I asked my gyno if I could try Yasmin/Yaz but I didn't think about it for acne, I thinking about it because of my weight, I'll get into more later. Something remarkable happened that year. My acne vanished. My hair and skin were no longer crazy oily. At the time I didn't even think it was the BCP beca
  24. I have some questions regarding hormonal acne and the use of Yasmin and Spironolactone.. Hopefully this won't be too long-winded and lengthy.. Has anyone here had luck with replacing Yasmin with spironolactone to treat their (adult) hormonal acne? I don't want to be on Yasmin anymore because I believe that hormonal birth control leaves me with anxiety issues, I also experienced this on the NuvaRing as well. I am 26 and have PCOS which I believe is the root cause of my acne, so I need to be on
  25. So, a couple of years ago, I started taking Yasmin to help with menstrual cramps. It worked wonders my cramps and did a great job of keeping my acne under control. I switched to Alesse three weeks ago on the suggestion of my doctor after Yasmin was shown to *possibly* have a higher incidence of blood clotting. My acne has gotten unbelievably worse - it's all over my chest, there's some on my neck (never had this before), and I think I'm starting to get cystic acne on my chin (never had this be
