  1. Sooo I made this account just to start this topic because I took a picture of my skin today and it looks soo bad. I started the caveman regimen a little more than 3 weeks ago and yes i know I should at least try it out for 2 months but i really need some advice (feel free to ask for background etc). Any advice would be helpful please. this is how my skin looked before i started doing the caveman regimen so around 3 weeks ago and this is how it looks right now
  2. Hello everyone! 19 year old needing help! So i was looking for some advice on Laser treatments, because opinions seem to be quite divided. Firstly i should say that i don't have acne, but i have a range of scars and large pores all over my face. I've read a lot of horror stories that they can actually make scaring worse and it's really frightening. I've already had one laser treatment, but my treatment sounds quite different than other peoples. The procedure was roughly 30 mins, it felt w
  3. How Will Swimming in a Pool Affect My Acne?

The outermost layer of skin provides an important function called the "barrier function," which means it keeps water inside the skin. People with acne tend to have an impaired barrier function. Here's the rub: Extended time in pool water may erode this barrier and decrease its function. Real-world experience amongst Acne.org members shows us that swimming does not tend to make acne worse. So don't get too nervous to go swimming. Instead, just take these precautions...
  4. Hello Everyone! So, I'm on my second week on the Exposed Skin Care Line. The pamphlet says that my acne might get worse in the first two week and it definitely has. It isn't so bad though, I've had a lot worse on other systems and medications. My main problem is that the old pimples have left dark marks all over my face. I've heard they take months to go away, so I'll have to patient. I feel really hopeful at the moment, as hard as it is to keep trying new products all the time. At the momen

    Week 1 To Week 4

hello! So I've decided to come on here and chat about my accutane progress, I am driving my family crazy so thought I'd chat to you guys instead. So I began the treatment a little over 4 weeks ago, the derm recommended it when I failed to respond to Doxy, Antibiotics and the usual other treatments. I had never had acne in my life up until about 6 months ago. I am 25 and this flare up came out of no where, just one side of my face red raw, lumpy, pussy and horrible, my nose was all distorte
  6. What shampoo and soap is the best to use for people with bad acne? When showering should you soap yourself first and then wash your hair with shampoo last, I feel if I wash with shampoo first, then there is more time for shampoo on my face to aggravate my acne?
  7. Hi Guys, I've had acne from when I was 11 year olds and it just keeps getting worse. My skin care routing --- Wash with Dove soap, apply witch hazel, apply skin repairing oil, add benzoyl peroxide I do this every night and day My skin is so red though and cysts beneath have formed I have no acne on my cheeks, just my forehead and the sides of my chin Its making me unhappy and self conscious, I find it hard to look people in the eye and I'm finding job interviews hard
  8. i am 25 and have suffered from mild to sever acne on my face, back, chest, breasts, and tops of my arms since i was about 12. i have tried a number of things over the years from over the counter creams and herbal remedies, birth control and roll on gels and creams from my GP, to antibiotics and roaccutane from a dermatologist. i have even been on gout medication at one point. not a single thing has worked. over a 2 year break from using medication after my roaccutane disaster, i have c

  10. 3 weeks! I am happy I have stuck with my routine, but my skin is even worse! I feel like i keep saying that lol, but its true. Each day I feel like it gets worse. I do not go anywhere without foundation on. I come home from another vacation tomorrow so I'll have pics of what my face looks like now.
  11. From the album: My Claravis Journey.

alright, so I haven't posted anything in a while but it's day 16 for me and i see little improvement. my forehead's really red because I just took off my make up and washed my face. I really hope it's going to work a lot faster than it is now. I curled in my lips so you can't see how dry they are but they're seriously chapped. As of now, I'm relying on Vaseline Lip Therapy to help me out! wish me luck on my longgggg journey!
  12. Can drinking tap water be bad for acne as it may not be filtered? I don’t usually drink a lot of water but I am starting to now as I want to improve my acne, I am worried that if I suddenly start to drink a lot now my skin will get a lot worse as it can purge if toxins are brought to the surface of skin due to suddenly drinking a lot of water, would a solution to this be to ease into it and slowly drink more and more water? Is drinking bottled water better than tap water for acne? So
  13. When applying Duac once daily gel I wash my hands with hand wash and then just wash my face with water before applying the gel, what cleansing routine should I be using to improve my acne? Should I be using some sort of soap when washing my face? I also dry my face with a paper towel/kitchen roll sheet instead of a towel as I find it is cleaner than towels, could this be making my acne worse as small bits from the paper towel/kitchen roll sheets could be sticking to my face and clogging po
  14. Hi friends. So please read and respond because I need this and someone to talk to more than you know. In high school I had really average mild acne. I was put on topical which did nothing and since I am a girl I was put on birth control and I tried three different kinds and all made my skin WAY worse. Finally, my derm put me on accutane from July to February at 20 mg a day (I weighed 120). It cleared my skin right up I never had any problems, and my skin really stayed clear once I was off it. Or
  15. I am on 3rd week of acne.org regimen. I have moderate acne, I am 29year old female, suffering from oily skin and adult acne since I was 21. Before that I never had acne, I was having clean and clear skin before and once I cross the age of 20, then BAM. I broke out and fiercely. I tried all homemade to over the counter products. Nothing worked. Consulted dermatologists started antiboitics. No success. Then stated accutane. Then cleared for few years. Then I got married and BAM. I got worse acne
  16. Ok, so here goes my story. I began using Retin- A mid- August because of terrible blackheads I had on my chin. I started using it over my entire face. I had no acne anywhere but the blackheads on my chin, and a few that would pop up every month or so. When I began using Retin- A, I began breaking out terribly on the sides of my face (where I've NEVER gotten zits before). They are deeper ones too. I was put on birth control to help with my acne also mid- August. But my acne just keeps getti
  17. sp guys i can't deal with it anymore. i am traveling tomorrow with my husband and i am covered my pimples. his friends are coming.and i am so ugly, guys, i just can't....i feel so agitated because of that. i have cancelled all my appointments today because i look so ugly. is accurate the only option for me?! i think I'm collapsing,
  18. So ive been on Roaccutane for 6 weeks now.. and my acne has multiplied and gone woprse by x10. As you can see in the picture below.. im not even sure if this is still an initial breakout or its just not working for me.. I cant even go out in public thats how bad its gotten. the make up doesnt cover it. The dermatologist put me on antiobiotics and presidone and said that should help.. The onnly thing that has dried up is my lips. My skin is the same just more bumpier and way more sever aggre
  19. I just have a question and I wasnt sure where to put it. Ive been using tea tree oil lately for my acne but it seems to have made it worse? It clears up the ones I put it on but its causing more, larger and deeper giant red acne over my face. Has anyone else experienced this? usually I will have superficially annoying mid sized acne and the occasional deep one, but so many deep ones are popping up! They are very red and are sensitive to the touch. I have an oily skin type and am only using the o
  20. If you live in a city but with greenery around is it better to keep your window closed or open a lot if you have acne and want it to improve? I am hoping the fresh air will improve the air in my room and that will help my acne.
  21. I saw the dermatologist again, and he had me start using cetaphil to wash with, a cetaphil moisturizer and isotretinoin cream. My face hasn't been this bad in YEARS! Every time I use the isotretinoin cream my face turns red and peels off like crazy for about 2-3 days. I keep getting more whiteheads and cysts. Does my skin have to go through this horrible and discouraging "purging" before I start seeing clear skin? Or is this just not the treatment for me? Will my skin forever peel off like this?
  22. About a month ago I got a new regimen from my dermatologist. My regimen consists of taking 100mg Minocycline morning and nights, as well as benzoyl peroxide/clindamycin in the mornings and Differin (adapalene) at night. I just looked at some pictures and in fact, my acne is now much worse than before. My skin is extremely dry (despite constantly moisturizing), and the redness is not subsiding. I have around the same number of pimples, but every morning I will have quite a few (10-15) new wh

So i have been using differin for 5 days now and my face is definitely worse! The first time I used differin my face didn't start breaking out until the third week of using it. I also have exams right now, so that's probably not helping either. I've been getting really big pustules all over my face, mainly on the sides, jaw and chin area. My face is also a little dry which I knew would start happening. My old acne marks also seem to be a lot more pronounced and red. I'm still only using a washcl
  24. Please help me I'm desperate... I'm coming up to the two months mark of using Epiduo and my skin has completely transformed. I used to have extremely mild acne; some raised bumps on my forehead which were barely visible and the occasional pimple and I now have awful acne and the most awful scars. I'm wishing that I never even started Epiduo. My self esteem is ruined and I've cried myself to sleep these past few nights. My face now has so much deep, red and purple scarring (something which
  25. Hello everyone, how are you all doing?! Anyway I have a middle issued life at the current moment .... I been currently at work almost all day of the week and I been feeling distressed! I worked a lot of hours-- full-time at the resturant. From 11:00 AM to 9:30 on Sunday-Thursday. And 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM for Friday and Saturaday. And for me I feel like I have to get up early around 6:30-7:45 AM and I am STILL tired! I'm like a heavy sleeper mostly. And I'm not a MORNING kind of person. So I
