  1. OK. wow i'v been gone awhile, I honestly have no excuse except I'v been busy. My face is looking really good right now, alittle red because I kind of went at it removing blackheads lastnight (I know, I;m ashamed of myself. Really!) Plus i'v been useing a AHA cream from...I can't remember the name of the place..But its natural and so good. It kind of burns my skin at first but it helps with my acne like you wouldnt believe! I put it on at night under lotion on my lerrosett rejuvinating serum an
  2. So i've been clear for a while now, but i still get small spots now and then which is why im here. Anyway i've noticed the only time i break out now is after training sessions, my skin seems to get more oily when this happens as well. there is some kind of hormone which is released with weight training, anyone care to clarify? I'm on the gut diet which has helped me greatly, but i've still got a couple of months to go. tdlr weight training causes oily skin for me, anyone else agree? i loat
  3. Hi Acne.org! I'm a 22 year-old male, 213 lbs, 6.1', and I have moderate/severe cystic and nodular acne. A few days ago, my dermatologist prescribed to me Accutane 100mg/day. I would like your advice. First, I planned to take my first pill this morning. However, I woke up feeling a bit under the weather (i.e. sore throat, a bit congested, a little feverish, etc.). Is it safe to begin my first Accutane course while I'm experiencing these unrelated cold symptoms? Second, I'm concerned a
  4. Okay, so I was prescribed antibiotics for my acne which gave me a bad allergic reaction. Really bad hives across my face and unbearably painfully itchy tingling hands and feet and because of that the doctor has prescribed me the pill (Estelle 35) now that the reaction has worn off for the most part. I know everybody reacts differently to the pill but I just wanted some opinions from others who have used it about whether or not it is worth starting yet. Normally I would just start it and see h
  5. I am currently taking accutane 30mg a day for 6-8 months and i have been thinking bout starting weight gainer as i am 20 but i am really skinny due to my high metabolism. However my weight gainer do have vitamin A. Around 270mg per serving. Its meant to be taken 3 times daily so its (270x3 times) around 800mg of vitamin a per day. I know that u cant take extra vitamin a prescription while on accutane but is 800mg of vitamin A bad too? Advice please guys
  6. I'm 18 and a male and I don't weigh much at all (about 57kg) so 125lbs. I used to have pretty bad body dysmorphic disorder on my muscle tone etc. I eat healthy and my diet is pretty clean. Literally I only eat Vegetables and Protein and water. That's been like that for 7 months. No processed food or salt etc, just raw natural food. I am concerned as how likely it is for people to gain/lose weight or lose body muscle etc and if it is PERMANENT? I looked up "Does accutane cause weight gain?" an
  7. Hey guys. I'm on my third month of Accutane at 40mg. When I started, I was 108-ish pounds and 5'3 (roughly), but my weight fluctuates. Since then, I've lost a bit of weight. I'm 101 pounds now and I have absolutely no appetite. The thought of food sometimes nauseates me. I'm worried that this is a very unhealthy weight for me... Any thoughts?
  8. Its been a while since I'v written, Life is so busy. Vacation was ok. I spent it wearing make up every single day before anyone saw me tho. My face was HORRIBLE. But anyways..I'm trying not to pick at my skin in hopes of it getting better (I feel like I'v said this before). Its really hard when you have blackheads tho..ugh I hate them!!!!!! But I'v got those blackhead removing strips I'm going to use..I'm also going to try to up my water intake. I know one of the reasons My skin is so bad is
  9. Hi all! I am an (almost) 30-year-old woman with hormonal and some cystic acne that I have controlled (mostly successfully) with a CBCP for about 6 years. I recently opted for an IUD and spoke to my dermatologist about medications to counterbalance the effect that this might have on the frequency and severity of my break-outs. Part of the reason I am so on-top of the acne angle right now and unwilling to wait to see if I start to break-out again, and how bad it is if I do, is because I am g
  10. Any female Accutane takers here (not on birth control pills) that have noticed weight gain a few months into taking Accutane?
  11. How do you lose your weight? I was told to try pure chimp super tea for that, have you heard any info about that?
  12. Hello, For the past 6 months or so, I've been on 100 mg of Spironolactone in the morning and 100 mg at night. It's the only medication I've tried that has cured my PCOS acne. I no longer get cystic acne and my skin is so much less oily. I tolerate it very well. It's the only thing that's helped my skin. If I stop taking it, I instantly break out with cystic acne. The only downside is that I have been gaining weight very fast, and in weird places. I almost don't recognize myself sometimes beca
  13. So my dermatologist finally prescribed me Accutane, and I have moderately severe acne that scars. My medicine is supposed to be ready to be picked up tomorrow after 3 pm, but I'm worried because my derm prescribed me only 20mg/day and i'm 17, 5'4.5, and 117 pounds (female). Do you think if I call him in the morning and ask for a higher dosage that they will change this month's from 20 to 40? Or is it too late? I don't want my acne to come back once the course is over, and my derm said I will be
  14. Hey, My acne is mostly quite moderate these days (the odd pimple on my forehead or a tiny white-head on my nose). I also get a few breakouts on my chest. Anyway, I'm usually 80% clear majority of the time but still get the occasional breakout and my skin is far from perfect. The reason for this post is because I am and always have been a very slim/skinny guy. I've always struggled to put on weight. Over the past year I've taken to walking to and from work as I don't drive and wanted to save
  15. Below is what has helped me to lose weight. No sugar. (I use honey or fructose to sweeten things) Drink pure chimp super tea. I can’t stand green tea so this stuff has been great for me. Swap white for brown (bread, rice, pasta etc). Exercise at least 3 times a week I feel great and have a lot more energy following this regime.
  16. Hi! I've recently started my third month of Clavaris. I'm a 24 year old female who weighs 135 lbs (about 61 kg). For two and a half months now I've been taking 40 mg two times a day now. At first, the high dosage was hell, causing me to have body pains, terrible breakouts and dry skin. Now its just causing dry skin thats manageable for the most part and my breakouts are quickly going away. But I've been looking around it seems like people are on a lower dose than me and I'm concerned.
  17. So I'm kind of down about my skin right now. Just because I'm tired of dealing with this..I'm tired of looking at people who have clear skin and dont have to wear make up. Don't have to worry about touching their face, going swimming, sweating, ANYTHING!!!!!!! And the sad part is my skin really isnt that bad right now. My scars are tho. And I have alot of scars on my back from a random HUGE outbreak of bacne about 2 months ago. Like seriously. It was so weird. I get a few spots here and ther
  18. Does anyone know of a link between acne and anorexia? I've always had acne, but my skin got REALLY bad when I developed an eating disorder in 2012. About a year earlier, I had lost my period. Now, I'm 8 months into recovery (yes!!!), have a regular cycle, and my hair is becoming a little thicker, but my skin is still awful. I've spent thousands of dollars on derm visits and every acne treatment available, but NOTHING has worked. So I'm desperate to understand the link between acne and my eat
  19. Hi ive been on this eat healthy diet eating no gluten or dairy and mainly just fruit and abit of veg each day with some smoothies. I eat healthy stuff everyday and tons of it so im always full. My only problem is that im losing too much weight and need to put it on without gettig acne again. Any ideas of foods which put in weight and dojt cause acne? Im eating low Gi food too to lower blood sugar and insulin levels. Thanks
  20. Hi! I'm a 'survivor' of accutane (roaccutane in Australia). I suffered minimal side effects - dry eyes, sore joints etc when on it - 10 months in 2002, can't remember the dosage. I was thankful for what it did for my skin, and my confidence. (Huge cystic acne that started at age 20) I always thought that the outcome of better skin outweighed the side effects that I got. Except for the 30 kilogram weight gain. Until now.......I am on the constant struggle to lose and maintain a healthy weight
  21. I do exercises every 2nd day which include 40 press ups, 40 crunches and planks, gradually increasing them. And I go for at least 1 20 minute walk every day. However, I want to start lifting weights, but I've heard all so much stuff about weight lifters getting acne and what not. If it matters, I'm a male and 17 and slim built. I basically only want to lift weights for my arms. Nothing else. Or is it best to stick away from weight lifting?
  22. Is weight gain a sign that a leaky gut is healing? I'm suspecting I have leaky gut due to various symptoms, and I don't think my body was able to absorb nutrients from food or vitamins....I looked malnourished even though I was eating all the "right" foods in decent amounts. Since I started a low histamine diet a few months ago, along with regularly eating sweet potatoes, taking digestive enzymes, selenium & vitamin E, and sometimes vitamin C, I noticed that I have put on a few pounds. Could
