  1. Hi everyone, I just want to share my experience with Spironolactone as I now know I'm not the only one who has had this happen to her. I have read countless entries on forums and websites with the exact same story as mine. Please, please consider this carefully if you are planning on going on Spironolactone. I gained a lot of weight while on Spironolactone. Actually, I gained 25 lbs over the course of 8 months. I was at my thinnest before starting Spiro. I had been doing (kept doing during
  2. Hello, I have been having the worst time on spironolactone. I am now entering my 5th month I think (I lost track,it's been at least 4 months) and still breaking out the same as before. Surely I should be past the IB phase by now, right? The only improvement I'm seeing is when I cut out gluten because I tested positive for gluten sensitivity and this helped a little bit with the acne. I am still gaining weight, losing more hair... should I give up on spiro? I started on 25mg, bumped up to 50mg
  3. Hi everyone! I recently started taking Sprintec to go on Accutane, and I've been experiencing some weight gain. I feel hungry all the time, and I can't stop eating!!!! It's only been about a week since I started taking it, and I can already tell that i've put on a couple of pounds(or more). And this is not normal for me because I finished my period a few days ago, and usually during the following week after my period I lose some weight and not gain. So my question is, has anyone else here exper
  4. I've had horrible, persistent cystic acne from age 14 onward and thick facial hair (not hirsutism, but it's definitely noticable and plentiful....slightly coarser than peach fuzz, and darker) that I wax currently. (It's sucks. Done at home, at least, as the hair grows back, zits come in. But I don't know what else to do and I can't thread or get waxed in a salon every week. It also makes my skin sore and red, of course, even though I do a good job of keep the skin taut when pulling, using the oi
  5. To recapitulate, i started Accutane on November 1 and i PERSONALLY ended it late December for side effect reasons. And last month, February, my dermatologist officially ended it. Since Late December i have been taking my 2nd month 30 day of pills randomly. For example i have 10 days of pills left, which i started taking yesterday again so i'm on day 52. I'm only gonna take until day 55 and take the Last 5 days of pills sometime mid April or so. Hopefully it doesn't affect my liver since i'm
  6. Hi, I recently started taking 25mgs of spironolactone. My face is dry but other than that I haven’t noticed any side effects. Should I continue taking this pill or should I just try to get low dose accutane? My reasoning behind this is having to take spironolactone forever to keep clear skin?? My acne is mild but it causes depression and emotional problems for me. I’ve alwsys had 95% clear skin but started breaking out last year. I get a 2/3 cysts every 3-4 months.
  7. Hello, I hope you guys can help me because my doctor is not helpful at all and I am getting very depressed. I am 32 f, and have been on spironolactone (the brand they sell at walgreens) for the 3rd month now. I originally went on it because I was feeling very hormonal all the time, emotional, depressed, and getting bad breakouts at least twice a month with scarring. well, since I started it I have been feeling worse. I gained weight, I'm always bloated and moody, I can't even have the ene
  8. Hi everyone. For the past 2 or 3 months, I have been using Ziana, been prescribed doxycycline, and have been taking herbal supplements (evening primrose oil) along with vitamins to help with my acne. I have also cut dairy out of my diet for the most part as I realized that my childhood milk allergy has been creeping up on me. (I am also a vegetarian) I started to see results, however, my dermatologist prescribed me Spiro 25 mg because he saw a "hormonal element" to my acne, which I can totally
  9. 1st month: 60mg/day 2nd month: 80mg/day My lips have gotten much better that it doesn't irritate and burn when it's not moisturized. Probably because i haven't taken Accutane in like 3 weeks. So yesterday i continued... The flakiness in my skin has also subsided, perhaps also because i only wash my face at night with face wash and not in the mornings. Still i'll say in the past 5 weeks i only had little spot on my left cheeck, which quickly went away. I've also gained about 7 lbs since
  10. hi, this is my first post on here! I'm trying to gain weight and have for a while, but it's hard when eating a clean acne diet. here's what I eat oatmeal with almond milk bananas berries cashews dates sprouted bread Turkey apples chicken brown rice pasta/ brown rice chickpeas beans pasta sauce (olive oil included) I'm also supplementing 5000mg of vitamin D and 20000iu of vitamin a each day I drink atleast 2l of water and am using ziana(biacna) as a topical. if anyone can help
  11. Hello, For the past 6 months or so, I've been on 100 mg of Spironolactone in the morning and 100 mg at night. It's the only medication I've tried that has cured my PCOS acne. I no longer get cystic acne and my skin is so much less oily. I tolerate it very well. It's the only thing that's helped my skin. If I stop taking it, I instantly break out with cystic acne. The only downside is that I have been gaining weight very fast, and in weird places. I almost don't recognize myself sometimes beca
  12. This is my fourth month of being on OTC lo and it is helping, but only a little bit, and mainly at the end of the pack, when I am on the highest level of hormones. I am considering switching to Ortho Cyclen because it has that level of hormones consistently throughout the pack. it also has 35 mcg of estrogen as opposed to ortho tri cyclen lo, which has 25 mcg. I am considering switching but I am scared that switching will bring my acne back from the minor improvement it made AND I am worried abo
  13. So it's been two months and a half since i've broken up! As many may already know i took accutane, started my own regimine due to harsh side effects and eventually ended. I realized i still have 10 pills left, so i think i will take 5 on April and 5 on May. I already saw my dermatologist last week and she stopped my treatment but i don't think taking 5-5 in two months will do any harm correct? Hope not. Gotta prepare for summer.,.. yup, summer! What is up with the sebaceous glands and su
  14. I've been on this drug (taking it alone, not with birth control) for about two years, going from 50 mg to 100 mg and back because this was thinning my hair at the crown. I can't lose water weight in the lower half of my body--hips and below--even though I exercise a fair amount and eat well. My stomach is flatter but lately my calves have been bulking up when I exercise, and they look awful. It might be aging or a lack of cardio, but within a month, I've gained muscle without losing fat. I know
  15. I just started my second month of accutane: first month-40mg once a day 2nd month-30mg 2x a day. My derm prescribed prednisone today and I was wondering if anybody could share their side effects while taking Prednisone. I am mostly concerned with a change in weight. I have heard mixed reviews about it and I am nervous to start it. If anyone could PLEASE share their side effects, positive or negative, it would be greatly appreciated!
