  1. I just saw this clinical study. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4375771/ The before after pics look real good. They use a combination of retinoic acid and glycolic acid 12%. "At the end of 12 weeks, significant improvement in acne scars was noticed in 91.4% of the patients." I am thinking of trying this.
  2. I am one of the lucky few who have been released from the chains of acne. Be it by my hygienic choices or nutritional choices.....or DNA/RNA I am one of the lucky few. Most who suffer with acne suffer much longer than they deserve to. While there may not be a universal cure for acne.....be not concerned. There is no universal cure for cancer and yet....there are countless human beings who are stopping it in it's tracks and even reversing it via natural methods. Without the use of Chemo Th
  3. I posted about the skin care regimen that I am currently using (as prescribed by my dermatologist) until I can get Accutane and I am absolutely loving it! My pores are much, much smaller and the dirt/ oil/ blackheads are all gone (except for a few on my nose). I don't have any new acne, just two small red marks from previous blemishes. Here's the regimen: AM -Take oral antibiotic--100 mg Minocycline -Wash face with 4% Benzoyl Peroxide face wash (PanOxyl brand) and leave on for 15 seco
  4. So I took accutane for 6 months (just ended in late August). I had clear skin for 4 months, and all of a sudden my forehead has been blowing up with whiteheads, and I have been getting a couple of pimples on my chin, cheeks, temples and nose. It's everywhere now. I just went to my doctor and I asked to take a second course of Accutane, but he denied it and prescribed me topical creams that I have used in the pst instead. If the creams didn't work before, what makes him so sure they will work ag
  5. This question has been probably asked a lot but has anyone found any effective topicals to use on scars after dermarolling. Heard retin-A might be too aggressive to use in conjunction with dermarolling. Vitamin C or hylauronic acid maybe? Vitamin e? Just need some opinions on what worked for you to give me an idea of where to start.
  6. I understand that there is a "window of opportunity" minutes and hours after needling to take advantage of the newly formed micro channels in the skin by applying topicals which can penetrate at a much deeper level and therefore enhance their effects. Similarly though, I'm guessing there are certain products you should probably avoid during this period as well. So, what should you apply to the skin and when? For example, Vitamin C serum is something that is commonly mentioned as a topical to u
  7. Hi everyone I can't believe that I'm back on this website again. I'm a 20-year-old Chinese woman who has been struggling with acne since age 10. What's really frustrating is that I absolutely have no family history of acne. My mom and dad have perfect skin, so do my grandparents, and aunts/uncles. My male cousin struggled with the occasional pimple when he was 14, but it was barely visible. I started to have pimples on my forehead when I was 10. Kids made fun of me, but I didn't pay attent
  8. Hey, friends. So I had this thought - perhaps I'd reach out to this community and see if anyone has gone through a similar thing as I am, in hopes of learning more of what my body is trying to tell me, find out what worked for others, and get my skin clear! I know I can do this... I just have to find what works for me. :} A quick background. 25 now, went through the usual acne stuff in my teens, but had it 100% under control with whatever topicals the derm prescribed. Never had any issu
  9. tiny little whiteheads like bumps which have red(inflamed) bases. picture : I KNOW THEY DON'T SEEM ANYTHING BIG BUT THERE ARE SO MANY SOMETIMES AND ALMOST ALWAYS , ALL OVER THAT THEY DO BOTHER. spread over my forehead, cheeks and around the nose area(mostly the area which has huge pores). i get them all the time and they do go way earlier or later(sometimes in days or weeks). i apply faceclin(clindamycin + nicotinamide) gel on them twice a day as spot treatment. and use my salicylic acid
  10. so basically i switched brands of tretinoin 2 weeks ago. i switched from nuderm obagi tretinoin to retin a. i don't know if i'm getting another initial breakout but i'm getting a lot of pimples on my cheeks and temples. - bumps on my head are way lesser - lighter and more even skin tone ( but still shitty) - with good lighting i kind of glow haha - papules and pustules but no more cystic shit (i think) on my temples and cheeks - my boxcars are actually lightening up and getting shallowe
  11. After terrible side effects with bactrim, I am on the 5th day of a medrol dose pack. My cysts have flattened but my cheeks are covered in red marks that will undoubtably become bumps again once I finish the medrol. The right side of my face looks like a pizza. The left side has a few marks but nothing much. Weird, right? I don't get it... So now I am in the first week of only using topicals. Tretinoin at night and clindamyacin during the day. I'll update my progress or lack there of. F
  12. Hi all, I've had an issue with my nose now for over a year. What begun as a large, deep sebaceous cyst has become a hypertrophic scar around the area due to me sqeeuzing and bursting the cyst. The cyst itself has not gone away but is smaller and still deep - so not visible on the skin surface. My derm believes I still have a few blocked pores around this area and has started me on Treclin gel (Tretinoin + Clindamycin) 0.025%. The scarring is slap bang in the middle of my nasal bridge so is
  13. Hi all, so let me give you a quick overview of my acne timeline. I'm a senior (17 y/o male) in high school right now, and I haven't really dealt with severe acne so far (knock on wood). But in the summer of 2014, I had a horrible flareup of acne throughout my T-zone. I'm not sure what triggered it, but I got clusters of whiteheads and large cysts between my eyebrows, nose, and chin area. I was in China at the time, and my dermatologist speculated that since it was so hot and polluted out ther
  14. Hi! I have been struggling with very bad break out all over My face for the past year( doctor would have put me on Accutane but i cannot take it for some Reasons and i wouldnt either) i still think mine Wasnt the worst but it was moderate/ severe. I tried everything but nothing really cleared it up, ( antibiotics, duac, differin etc) So recently i have been doing green smoothies and eating 1 carrot with olive oil each day and My skin is Getting much better, ( it has reduced My skins inflamati
  15. Currently I have a breakout of deep cystic acne all over my forehead and jaw due to my cycle. I am on Doxy now; I've been on it a year and its stopped working. I've tried both Retin-A for at least one year and Benzaclin for six months. Without medication, the purging never stops and it's out of control. As far as meds go, I tried aldactone for four years and hated it. Accutane helped four years ago, but it made me purge horribly for at least three months once I stopped having regular te
  16. Alright, I'd just like to put the word out there about topicals that can actually help with hormonal acne. The standard acne topicals, like your Duacs and Epiduos and Benzaclins and ProActives, do not help hormonal acne because they simply don't communicate with hormones. Acne is a long chain of events, and topicals typically attack the END of the chain, which is bacteria and inflammation. Hormones are at the beginning of the chain, and the typical way to address hormones is with a pill
  17. Hey everyone and happy new year to you all I'm hoping 2012 is the year I'll finally have clear skin haha. I was prescribed to Accutane and my dermatologist told me to take 40mg every other day. Therefore, I've taken it on December the 26th, 28th, 30th, and yesterday (January 1st). I don't have HORRIBLE skin, I'd say it's moderately severe. Before being prescribed to Accutane, I used differin and benzaclin and took Doxycyclin (100mg once every day) for 3 months, which didn't help very much.
  18. Hey, I have had acne for 2 and half years, it used to be moderate but now its mild, but now it is affecting me more than it has before because I have had it for so long and its ruining my life. My skin has lots of hyperpigmentation and acne marks now and I still break out most days. I have combination skin with an oily t-zone; my skin has a tendency to dry out if I use a cleanser that is too harsh so I avoid them. I have large pores on my cheeks and nose. Basically, I have tried EVERYTHING,
  19. Hi I've been using Epiduo every night for the last 5 weeks since my dermatologist put me on a regime of Lymecycline antibiotics, Cetaphil cleanser and Epiduo gel. I gradually introduced Epiduo to build tolerance and avoided any irritation or sensitivity by doing so. I am happy with how it's working but it's taking a long time to be as efffective as I'd like...I know I'm impatient! What I'd like to know is, would I be able to gradually introduce something like PanOxyl 2.5 to use only in the m
  20. I've just started a course of Epiduo (adapalene .1%), and I can say that I have definitely seen an increase in active acne. Nonetheless, I will keep going for the sake of clear skin. I'd love to hear your experiences with Retinoids and the purges that come along with using them. How long does it last and what biological mechanism makes it happen?
  21. Hi guys, Another day, another dollar. I'm currently at work on a Friday afternoon and thought hmmm I haven't updated my "blog" in a while. Obviously when we have a breakout, we jump onto google/acne.org in the hopes of finding an answer. I'm just going to paste my skincare routine from my prev blog entry & then add some notes. This is less boring then reading paragraphs. Just to update you though, my acne has now shifted from my cheeks (relieved not to have to deal with constant cysts) -
  23. Help I've been on a regimen of a Benzoyl Peroxide face wash (PanOxyl 4%) in the morning, 75mg of Spironolactone for hormonal acne, and Ortho Tri Cyclen birth control. At night I use CeraVe facewash, then CeraVe moisturizer and then 30 mins later, a topical retinoid (RetinA 0.05%). The past 6 weeks have been a ROLLERCOASTER. Some days my skin is purging, others it's healing, and others it actually looks a lot better and I only have to use a few dots of concealer. Right now is an AWFUL pu
  24. I have been off antibiotics for a 2 months after having huge allergy-related breakouts--under jaw (jaw lymph), k-filled pores from the bridge of the nose to the chin--and a course of Diflucan. It messed up my menstrual cycle for a while, actually. I'd say between now and September I had maybe two weeks of smooth, minimally oily skin before I hit rock bottom again in the last month. I suspect it might be diet a little--I'm do eat some white bread, but also lots of green veggies and
  25. . http://supernaturalacnetreatment.com/ Someone on here posted an article about keratin and acne, I can't recall who but it was part of a larger website called Supernatural Acne Treatment. This website has really good suggestions which make sense, tells you exactly what works and gives scientific reasons as to the causes of acne and how to treat each cause. The guy who writes the articles is selling an e book, at first that made me suspicious but he gives a lot of specific info out for fre
