    A Solution?

I've had flaky skin from BP for 8 months and I can't take it anymore, so I am changing up the regimen to meet my needs, and I want everyone's advice and input. I'm willing to do ANYTHING to stop my skin from flaking. (btw I suffer from acne, so using too little bp I will break out) WHAT I DO NOW: Mornin': Cleanser, 1 pump BP, 2 pumps moisturizer + 5 drops of jojoba Night: Same thing WHAT I USE: CeraVe foaming facial cleanser, acne.org bp, cerave moisturizing lotion, acne.org jojoba oil W
  2. does anyone know any tips or ways to be happy with acne? Every time I look in the mirror I start to cry. I'm so insecure about my acne that it takes away all my happiness. You don't really know what it feels like until you have it on yourself and can't get rid of it. Anyways what are some things you can do? because for me, Ive been depressed for years about it and I was even hospitalized for a suicide attempt because of it. The worst is when people point it out. All I want to do in that situati

Please help my super oily skin!

I used to have acne problems when I was 13 until 15 years old. Right now, being 19, I rarely have acne but I do suffer from extremely oily face and NOTHING works!!! I wash my face twice (morning and night), I always remove my makeup and I exfoliate my skin three times per week and nothing. This is very frustrating because using makeup is the only thing that kind of controls my oiliness and I'd prefer not to use makeup at all Before applying makeup I use milk of magnesia and a primer and I use b
  5. Hi, I am new on here and with posting in general. I figured I'd just share something I tried recently that I don't see has been written about much so I thought to recommend others to consider trying what had recently helped me primarily with cystic acne but also moderate acne from hormone changes due to significant stress and just getting older, Im 33. My face would just start to itch before a break out and all this acne consistency is new to me (past year) and I am the type to research and tr

  7. Hey everyone!!I've had moderate acne for the past 4 years and after endless medications and prescriptions I have built up the courage to go on Accutane! I've read so so many threads and logs and so many people have had great results! For the past 3 months this summer my acne took a turn for the worst after I got bronchitis and had to take a lot of medication (i thought antibiotics would help me??). Anyway, I've been even more depressed than usual and I barely leave the house so I don't pigment m

  11. Hi all, Sometimes when my acne flares up and I wash my face, the whitehead or root of the acne rises to the surface and sometimes grows. In some cases, after washing my face, the whitehead or root will fall out of the spot leaving a hole in my face. I wondered whether anyone had any tips on what I should do about this, whether it be applying a topical cream or just leaving it to heal. It’s like when you squeeze a spot but I don’t squeeze them, the root of the spots come out naturally and I’m w
  12. Hi everyone, I'm making this post to generally get something off my chest and to just vent really. In late 2015, I had a massive breakout due to a type of birth control I was on at the time and I began taking accutane, I only realised that my birth control was making my skin go crazy at about the 4 month mark and stopped it immediately. I know you're supposed to be on birth control on accutane but I took this risk and just didn't have any at all - they're not as strict as they should be wit

  14. Hello people of acne.org! I'm completely new to this forum, and I decided to share some of my experiences with acne. I started having outbreaks when I was 11, and they've kept going for 6 years (I'm now 17). It started out in small amounts, and then progressed and came to a top when I was 14/15. I had massive outbreaks on my forehead, nose, chins and around my mouth. But now, at the age of 17 it's rather moderate. I have a few ones but it's manageable. While suffering from this conditio

What are Blackheads ?? Blackheads, essentially open-air pimples, can appear on any part of your body and be especially frustrating to deal with. If you are looking to remove your blackheads, try some of these successful treatments to clean your skin and stop the formation of the pesky dark spots. With some very easy adjustments to your skin care regimen, you can have the clear skin you've always wanted (and deserve). Method 1 of 4: Cleansing to Remove Blackheads Method 2 of 4: Exfoliating

The Start Of My Accutane Journey

Hello everyone, I just receieved word from my Dermotoligist that I can't start Accuatne on Nov. 21st. Words cannot describe how excited I am to begin. I've always had the occasional breakouts, I'd say they started at age 15-16. This past summer my skin cleared up completely, not one new breakout for weeks. I was so happy I thought I had finally gotten rid of the problem. Unfortunately, around late August my skin erupted! I had never seen anything like it, I started getting large painful

    Help/prevent Oily Skin

Ok first off Im going to apologize because this might be a bit long. Anyways, I want to start by saying I am on my acne regimin. It consist of 2.5% benzoyl peroxide wash, clindamycin in the morning, sunscreen, benzoyl peroxide 5% lotion at night, and moisturizer (cerave). About 3 hours after I wash my face I am forced to blot because of how oily my face is. I don't have major breakouts at all anymore. I drink vitamins and roughly 2.5 liters of water daily. Idk why I get so oily. I feel
  19. Hey guys! I'm "new" here, but have been reading the boards for...years. Since high school, actually. I'm now a senior in college and after going on a round of antibiotics (minocycline for a year), and learning that I needed to cut dairy out my diet, I've come a long way in skin health and confidence overall. HOWEVER, there is a reason I asked for your help! While my cystic outbreaks are now very few and far between (I might get 2 bad cycts all year now...which leads to confusion among my acquai
  20. I am in my first month of accutane and I hate it so far. I was able to slow down how dry I am already as I kept over moisturizing right when I started. But right now I am going through the first initial break out and I have never been in so much pain. This is unlike any there break out. This is extremely cystic and I have multiple at once. I have been doing warm compresses, ice, applying apple cider vinegar, hydrocortisone cream, etc. And onceI get rid of one, many others appear. How can I preve
  21. Hello friends! This is the third-week that I have been on accutane, and I need some help. My dermatologist warned me about the side-effects and that it is likely that an "initial breakout" would occur sometime within the first four-weeks and last for the first couple of months. I haven't been experiencing much of the listed side-effects other that mildly dry lips, but in terms of the initial breakout - it started midway of the second-week, and so far it has been quite bad. Many blackhead and c

    Acne.org tips

Some tips for using the regimen that I have found thus far: Firstly- the key is to follow what Dan says and not just use the products how you've always used acne products if you want it to actually work. 1) For me, the thick layer of benzoyl all being applied and lightly smeared and then the thick lotion being applied and smeared lightly (after the benzoyl dried of course) made me feel really sticky and goopy like I had a thick layer of stuff on my face. So to help with this I applied (still
  23. Hey, I've had acne and marks mainly on my cheeks and chin for a half a year and it's really getting me down. Tip #1

Change your pillow cases often! I read that pillow cases harbour bacteria and using the same one regularly may spread breakouts all over your skin. To try this out, I grabbed a couple of cheap ones and change them every four days. (I have two pillows, so I use a different side each night of both pillows.) I'm not entirely sure if this is a legitimate claim of spreading breakouts, but it makes a fair point and is always worth a try (:
