    10 years of Acne.

For the last 10 years, I've looked on acne.org for advice. Making this account was long overdue. And for the most part, things I've found on here have worked! But nothing completely got rid of my acne. Let me give you a background of my history.... I got my first whitehead when I was 11 years old, thought nothing of it. Scratched it away. From ages 11-12, I had a front fringe. I began to experience hundreds of tiny whiteheads all over my forehead, I presume due to the sweat and dirt

15 yr old, acne :( (pictures)

Hi! this is my first post on this website and i'm looking for possible ways to help improve my skin. Lately, my acne has been making me not want to hang out with my friends or see anyone because i'm embarrassed. I know i shouldn't be embarrassed and that acne is a normal thing but it stresses me out. All my friends have only like one or two pimples at a time and then there's me. I'm feeling so insecure and i just want to find drugstore products that will work. Heres some information about
  3. I took oratane back in OCT 7 2016 up until JULY 7 2017, so for 9 months at 40mg/day. Before that I tried everything OTC from drugstore to highend, and prescriptions ever since I was 13 such as clindatech, epiduo, duac gel and 4 rounds of antibiotic minomycin. I also went vegan for 2 years, to improve my skin, however that was useless. I’m 16 yrs old and female. BACKSTORY - (YOU DON'T HAVE TO READ THIS) This was when i was 13/14/15 years old - Before going on oratane, I remember previously st
  4. im 16 yrs old and recently just finished my 9 month course of oratane (the australian accutane or whatever) 40mg/day! In australia we dont get higher dosages in a shorter period of time, or at least thats what my derm put me on cause of my weight, etc. im so grateful for this drug, i am finally able to look people in the eye, go to school, socialise and look at myself in the mirror. accutane is actually god sent & worked miracles on my mild acne. When i started accutane i never had terrible

    Acne Help

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum so I want to apologize in advance if this topic doesn't go here. I'm at the point with my acne where I'm at a loss of what to do. For a little bit of background, I've always had good skin. Never any pimples, redness, nothing. Then, near the end of highschool I started to get pimples on my cheek. There would always be one pimple and as soon as it cleared another would show up instantly. It wasn't really a big deal but was a minor annoyance. Slowly, it became two

    Worsening Acne

Hey everyone!! My skin has been terrible for over a year now. I know this pales in comparison to other people's battle with acne, and I truly sympathize for you. Please know you are beautiful and we can get through this !! Anyways, this year my skin had progressively gotten worse. I've used so many products (I will list later) and have been to doctors and dermatologists. Nothing has helped- only made it worse. These are the products I've used : BP, Retin-A, Clindamycin, Finacea, Soolant

    Teenage acne

Teenage Acne To give you an overview of what my acne has been like, it began when I was around 13 but didn't really begin to bother me until late last year (at the age of 14). It was just mild acne on my forehead but really brought my confidence to an all time low I went to see a dermatologist who prescribed me differin gel however this only made my skin worsen!! I began breaking out more, not just on my forehead, but also my cheeks and chin. I continued to use the tube until it was finished
  8. Poll-When did your teen acne go away?
  9. Hey so my skin was perfectly fine for a few years, I used cetaphil and Benzoyl Peroxide gel. Suddenly this year after a bad sun burn, as if it just stopped working, my skin developed some moderate acne. I have deep cysts and many little whiteheads that pop up where I've never gotten acne before. My doctor put me on Alesse, that made my periods worse, now I'm on Triquilar. They also gave me Tretinoin but it seems to have no effect/made it worse. Should I go see a derma? Anybody have any ideas why
  10. Hey I have a question. I have been using tretinoin cream for the past 7 days and I have been using it wrong. I squeezed about multiple pea size amounts for each part of my face mistaking the term ONE PEA SIZE AMOUNT for my whole face. I have read the directions and now I understand. If I use less tomorrow and according to directions usin ONE PEA SIZE AMOUNT for my whole face will the cream still work? or my skin has built a tolerace from the large amount used? (P.S. I didn't notice much irritati

  12. Hi there, i am 16 years old and i have cystic acne on my cheeks and pimples around the area.I rarely have whiteheads but rather red pimples.I have the same pimples for months and they just sit there doing nothing, maybe turning into a whitehead once after months.I also have back acne which started before my facial acne.I used to have only on my shoulder pad's(if that's what it's called) but now they went downwards also.I haven't gone to the beach after i started getting back acne(maybe that's the
  13. Hello everyone! About a week ago, I started the 3 step acne treatment from Clearogen because a YouTuber, Melanie Murphy, said it cleared all her acne away. But, I'm not sure if it's going to work for me because after using it I started getting white heads around my lips and my chin, which I usually don't get. I'm a little nervous to see if this product will eventually work. The good news is that it did help with my forehead acne. My question for you guys is that do you think I should continue w
  14. Just created an account on this website for the sole purpose on knowing what is going on with my forehead. I am 17 years old and i got my acne a year or two ago. What i want to know is what are these tiny bump on my forehead, what do you call them, and just want to know overall on whats going on with my forehead, are these scars, whiteheads, blackheads. I think because of my hair covering my forehead, i got blackheads (or that what i think they are) and so i try to squeeze them from time to

    My Accutane Log

Back story: I am a 17 year old female who has suffered from very light acne and the odd pimple since I was about 10. At the start of this year, being about 4 months ago my face has exploded with cysts, clogged pores, white head and black heads. Firstly beginning with a few on my chin then spreading to jaw, neck and check and occasionally on my fore head. It had gotten to the point where I couldn't even wear makeup and leaving the house was a nightmare! I was sexually active so I decided
  16. ANY EXPERIENCE WITH ANY OF THESE? Ortho cyclen or sprintec(the generic) ? Or any birth control for acne for that matter! I'm 17 and starting sprintec next month and want to know what to expect! Thanks(:
  17. Hi guys, I've been looking through this place a little bit for the past few weeks, and I thought I'd make a post today. I'm now 18 (almost 19) and I started having spots/acne in certain places around 2 years ago. I didn't know much about cleaning and moisturizing back then, and I unfortunately used to go crazy at these spots and pick and pop. Fast forward today, I have dark spots/marks from previous spots (it'd probably be the same as red scars, but I'm dark skinned so--) and I still get
  18. Hi! i've read many logs about accutane and have found them to be extremely helpful, and i figured i'd make one not just for myself but for people to see another perspective on this medicine and how it works. speaking as a teenage girl, acne is just the worst. probably similar to most of you reading this, i've tried everything possible. i've gone through 3 different antibiotic's, many topicals, almost all available store bought products, proactiv, X-out, etc... and needless to say my famil

    Can't Beat Acne Help

Im a 16 year old male, and started getting acne at 15, but didn't get real bad until about 4 months ago. I tried using stridex, or over the counter products such as neutrogena, and proactiv, to no success. I then first saw a dermatologist about 9 months ago. He gave me antibiotics (I forget which one), told me to use neutrogena 2 % salicylic acid, and a cream. Anyway there was absolutely no improvement, and my acne continued to get worse after this. I then switched to a new dermatologist about 5
  20. Hi! So my daughter has had acne since 6th grade, when she first started getting it she went on Proactive and it didn't do anything. So then we went to her dermatologist and they prescribed Epiduo and she was on it for almost 2 years, and there were maybe 5 periods (periods=weeks) where her skin had calmed down. Then she stopped using everything completely and her skin got so bad! The end of her 8th grade year she was prescribed Minocycline and it did not work, but she developed Even WORSE cysts
  21. So I've been using the regimen for a week now and I have severe, cystic acne with hyperpigmentation. I'm 15 years old and have only had it this bad for about a year...will this stuff work? I'm not expecting over-night results but in 2-3 months? I'm starting a new school in September and I'm really nervous about how people will think of my skin. I wear makeup but it just looks bumpy and you can still see my acne. Has anyone else had this bad of acne and it worked? Also, any advice for the dryness

    From the album: Teenage Acne

So basically I had experienced 5 years of continuous breakouts on the surface and even pimples under the skin I couldn't get rid off for months. I jumped on the regime in October 2013 and followed the instructions as precisely as I could and as consistently as I could. My face shredded in the first two months and it looked worse but because I was just so out of hope, acne.org was the only thing I decided to stick to. I saw results by the third and fourth month. The lumps and bumps were reduced o
  23. Hello acne.org family. My name is Franco,i'm 17 years old (2 months for 18) and i am from Argentina. During my early teen stages i used to have a really mild acne. Mostly comedonal. Maybe a pimple there and there. No cysts at all. Almost three months ago, after my high school graduation, during summer,i started to get more serious acne. Closed comedones were in my face for years, but they started to transform into zits with pus. Anyways it still was really light and otc products were
  24. My son has been on Accutane for a month. He was on 20mg and started 40 yesterday. The perfect storm happened tonight. He hasn't been feeling well since Thursday. Nothing horrible, just a really bad cold. The rest of his school seems to have either the flu or strep or some kind of crud. Tonight he felt sick at dinner and ran to throw up. After he did, one of the cysts on his cheek inflated! He was in a lot of pain and obviously really scared. I called the doctor and got a full ma
