  1. Hi! i've read many logs about accutane and have found them to be extremely helpful, and i figured i'd make one not just for myself but for people to see another perspective on this medicine and how it works. speaking as a teenage girl, acne is just the worst. probably similar to most of you reading this, i've tried everything possible. i've gone through 3 different antibiotic's, many topicals, almost all available store bought products, proactiv, X-out, etc... and needless to say my famil
  2. Ok, well you probably know why I'm here, I have acne. Terrible acne. And being a nearly 16 year old girl, I have enough to be dealing with without worrying about people judging me because of my skin...I have horrible red cysts literally covering my cheeks and chin, and all along the sides of my face ,and the marks from them don't go away... so I thought I'd make a blog here so people who are going through the same thing can read it, as none of my friends have acne to my extent, and I feel so alo
  3. I took oratane back in OCT 7 2016 up until JULY 7 2017, so for 9 months at 40mg/day. Before that I tried everything OTC from drugstore to highend, and prescriptions ever since I was 13 such as clindatech, epiduo, duac gel and 4 rounds of antibiotic minomycin. I also went vegan for 2 years, to improve my skin, however that was useless. I’m 16 yrs old and female. BACKSTORY - (YOU DON'T HAVE TO READ THIS) This was when i was 13/14/15 years old - Before going on oratane, I remember previously st
  4. Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum so I want to apologize in advance if this topic doesn't go here. I'm at the point with my acne where I'm at a loss of what to do. For a little bit of background, I've always had good skin. Never any pimples, redness, nothing. Then, near the end of highschool I started to get pimples on my cheek. There would always be one pimple and as soon as it cleared another would show up instantly. It wasn't really a big deal but was a minor annoyance. Slowly, it became two
  5. Hi guys, I've been looking through this place a little bit for the past few weeks, and I thought I'd make a post today. I'm now 18 (almost 19) and I started having spots/acne in certain places around 2 years ago. I didn't know much about cleaning and moisturizing back then, and I unfortunately used to go crazy at these spots and pick and pop. Fast forward today, I have dark spots/marks from previous spots (it'd probably be the same as red scars, but I'm dark skinned so--) and I still get
  6. Hello everyone! About a week ago, I started the 3 step acne treatment from Clearogen because a YouTuber, Melanie Murphy, said it cleared all her acne away. But, I'm not sure if it's going to work for me because after using it I started getting white heads around my lips and my chin, which I usually don't get. I'm a little nervous to see if this product will eventually work. The good news is that it did help with my forehead acne. My question for you guys is that do you think I should continue w
  7. ANY EXPERIENCE WITH ANY OF THESE? Ortho cyclen or sprintec(the generic) ? Or any birth control for acne for that matter! I'm 17 and starting sprintec next month and want to know what to expect! Thanks(:
  8. So I've been dealing with severe cystic acne for a few months now. It developed out of nowhere. I've had acne since the start of high school but it's never stayed around long. Now I'm a 16 year old high school senior and my face destroyed itself right before school started. Not a fun experience at all. I have two large cysts on my cheeks (one on each side) that have no intention of leaving. I've tried minocycline and clindamycin but to little effect. Then Bactrim DS, which cleared up my regular
  9. I'm a sixteen year old guy with moderate acne, I've tried many things, and now I'm trying doing nothing. I've had acne since I was about 12. It's always made me feel very insecure and depressed. I've tried multiple things, but have tried to stay away from the drugs such as Acutane, because of the possible side effects. The one thing I tried for the longest time was Epiduo. I can tell you more about that if you like, but this log will mostly be about my current regimen - nothing. I've been doin
  10. First day on Accutane, Starting College in a week and a half eeep! Hey Y'all! Since this is my first post I guess I should introduce myself. Im a seventeen year old girl and I have had pretty bad acne since I was 13. To the best of my knowledge I have tried every cure for acne ever imagined; topical, dietary and antibiotic and nothing has worked which has been incredibly frustrating as I'm sure some of you probably know. So I have decided to try accutane. Having Acne has been increasi
  11. Hey everyone!! My skin has been terrible for over a year now. I know this pales in comparison to other people's battle with acne, and I truly sympathize for you. Please know you are beautiful and we can get through this !! Anyways, this year my skin had progressively gotten worse. I've used so many products (I will list later) and have been to doctors and dermatologists. Nothing has helped- only made it worse. These are the products I've used : BP, Retin-A, Clindamycin, Finacea, Soolant
  12. Hi! this is my first post on this website and i'm looking for possible ways to help improve my skin. Lately, my acne has been making me not want to hang out with my friends or see anyone because i'm embarrassed. I know i shouldn't be embarrassed and that acne is a normal thing but it stresses me out. All my friends have only like one or two pimples at a time and then there's me. I'm feeling so insecure and i just want to find drugstore products that will work. Heres some information about
  13. Hi! So my daughter has had acne since 6th grade, when she first started getting it she went on Proactive and it didn't do anything. So then we went to her dermatologist and they prescribed Epiduo and she was on it for almost 2 years, and there were maybe 5 periods (periods=weeks) where her skin had calmed down. Then she stopped using everything completely and her skin got so bad! The end of her 8th grade year she was prescribed Minocycline and it did not work, but she developed Even WORSE cysts
  14. So I've been using the regimen for a week now and I have severe, cystic acne with hyperpigmentation. I'm 15 years old and have only had it this bad for about a year...will this stuff work? I'm not expecting over-night results but in 2-3 months? I'm starting a new school in September and I'm really nervous about how people will think of my skin. I wear makeup but it just looks bumpy and you can still see my acne. Has anyone else had this bad of acne and it worked? Also, any advice for the dryness
  15. So I went to the dermatologist for the first time today, after being prescribed things like duac, clindamycin phosphate and stuff and not seeing results. I got prescribed tetralysal and differin today, however I have had this before and (I now regret) I didn't take the tablets religiously. I'm 14, and I have this acne because of my age. I get it on my chest and back also. So has anyone seen any results with this combination? How long does it take to properly see a difference?

I really need to make a decision I know that I want to take accutane, and because I'm only going to be taking a 20mg dose, I hopefully won't have to worry as much about the serious side effects as I would with a higher dosage. But at the same time, my skin does look quite good at the moment with the benzoyl peroxide (for me), but I think it's just a phase as it looked even better this last month as well and I broke out so badly all over my face after that. I'm just dreading these next fe
  17. Hi there, i am 16 years old and i have cystic acne on my cheeks and pimples around the area.I rarely have whiteheads but rather red pimples.I have the same pimples for months and they just sit there doing nothing, maybe turning into a whitehead once after months.I also have back acne which started before my facial acne.I used to have only on my shoulder pad's(if that's what it's called) but now they went downwards also.I haven't gone to the beach after i started getting back acne(maybe that's the
  18. Back story: I am a 17 year old female who has suffered from very light acne and the odd pimple since I was about 10. At the start of this year, being about 4 months ago my face has exploded with cysts, clogged pores, white head and black heads. Firstly beginning with a few on my chin then spreading to jaw, neck and check and occasionally on my fore head. It had gotten to the point where I couldn't even wear makeup and leaving the house was a nightmare! I was sexually active so I decided
  19. I'm 16 and I have acne. I realize that it seems almost futile to try and attempt to do anything about it since I'm only going to grow out of it (or so I hope). However, after having a terrible explosion of acne all over my cheeks a little more than a year ago, I've become much more aware of my body and my health. While I know that my acne is mainly hormonal, I refuse to accept that my acne is a normal part of growing. My twin sister has nearly perfect skin (though she does have mild eczema) and
  20. Okay, so today is day 6 of my 6 month cycle of accutane (40mg/day) and I thought it would be a good idea to document my progress on this medication. A little background: I've had moderate acne on my face since the age of 11, large pores, and tons of blackheads. When I was in 8th grade it began to bother me some, so my mom and I went to our derm and I was prescribed tetracycline and a standard benzoil topical cream. After 6 months with no improvement, and the develmopent of cystic body acn
  21. Ivebeen taking vitamin A, D, E, for about 2 weeks now. I included zinc about a week ago. I originally started with a low dosage of vitamin A, however, I increased the dosage to about 200,000iu (retinyl palimate). My softgels are in 10,000iu but I see some that are 2,000iu? My acne began clearing when I had only vitamin A and D. However, since increasing the dosage my face has broken out. It might be because of the 100mg zinc temporarily included, but I'm really not sure. What gives? My face was
  22. My son has been on Accutane for a month. He was on 20mg and started 40 yesterday. The perfect storm happened tonight. He hasn't been feeling well since Thursday. Nothing horrible, just a really bad cold. The rest of his school seems to have either the flu or strep or some kind of crud. Tonight he felt sick at dinner and ran to throw up. After he did, one of the cysts on his cheek inflated! He was in a lot of pain and obviously really scared. I called the doctor and got a full ma

  24. Hello forums, I am a 16 (17 in 2 mo's) year old teenager and I have been suffereing from acne since I was 12. It's worse than my overbite issue, which was fixed by braces and I am extremely greatful for. Ever since my first few pimples, I've been chasing it down with natural home remedies. I need a regimen, which i will stick to provided I am told enough about how much it will improve this situation and when to expect results. But I am nearing my breaking point where I am simply going to
