  1. So i've always been told different things about whether the sun, helps acne, or makes it worse. Some say yes, no, 10 minutes is good, 30 mins is, etc etc. Just wondering what is everyones opinion on this forum? and if it does help, what is the ideal time to spend in the sun thanks a lot
  2. Just wondering why i keep reading about not going outside unless applying/adding sunscreen to your face or moisturizer? With summer right around the corner and my face clearing up the only place i want to be is on the beach soaking up the sun Would it be bad for my acne if i was still doing the regimen twice a day, and going outside tanning? Also would it be ok to use just any sunscreen lotion ? or is there one specifically that you can recommend for the face? Steph
  3. Alright well here is the story... 3 months back I was prescribed accutane by my derm after years of antibiotics and topical creams. All was going well until a few weeks ago, which is when a cystic flare started to begin. I went in for an emergency visit and my derm counted 40 cysts on my face. Fun. The great part was I started accutane for my back and shoulders, my face was pretty much clear before starting. Anyways, I started an antibiotic and everything has pretty much calmed down. I ha
  4. Do any of these interfere with the ability to acquire a tan? I am currently using the sodium sulfacetamide on my back and the duac and differin on other affected areas. I have mild acne on my back and very little acne on my face and chest. And yes, I am aware of how damaging the sun can be to one's skin but I use 50 SPF whilst tanning. Thanks.
  5. I'm currently nearly on my second month of Accutane. These two weeks have been the first two weeks where I've started to see major improvement; however, I'm starting to look to the future - this Summer. I'll still be on the medication, 40mg/day at the least, when I go to the Caribbean in June, Soccer tournaments in June, soccer practices 1-2 times per day the months of July and August, and the beach on the weekends. I realize that it would be best for me to stay out if the sun completely all
  6. Well right now I'm using Epiduo along with ampicillin and its working great, but about a year and a half ago I was using Ziana gel and 6 months into the process I had seen only about 40% of my acne clear up. Although I was advised to stay out sun, I ignored this and began tanning in the highest level tanning bed for summertime. Miraculously, my skin cleared up almost 100% after just two weeks of consistent tanning! I knew this was bad for my skin so I stopped but only 3 weeks after I did I broke
  7. Hi gang! My background: Lurker for close to 10 years, almost as long as I have had acne. I am a mid-20s college student raising a sibling. In other words, I have no time. I want to look presentable, though. This is why clearing my skin naturally is so important to me. I also don't wear makeup.. so it's magnifies the issue. I'm a hard INTJ, if you dig MBTI. That means I'm typically anxious and tense, which I'm sure is a big part of my acne. BCP (Yasmin) cleared my skin in my teens. Went
  8. So summer is coming in a month and I just started using roaccutane, I was wondering whether I can tan through out roaccutane or not? I read that a lot of people advise against tanning beds and so but I was wondering what about sun tanning with protection (15 -20 spf) would that be ok?
  9. Hey guys, I'm currently on Roaccutane and am really really pale, which means that every single bit of hyperpigmentation (and there is a lot) is on full show. I'm so pale you can even see veins! I used to go to the sunbeds once a week for like 5 minutes before I started (not a lot at all) to just keep up a slight tan, however, this is obviously not really doable... I'm not a massive fan of spray tans as I find they are just far too messy, and especially on Roaccutane with the dry skin it ju
  10. Summers coming up and I want to know if I should avoid the sun like a vampire or if it would help the scarring in some way. share your experiences with your acne scars and hyperpigmentation being exposed to sunlight, and your skin tanning etc. Did the white scars stay white or did they blend in? Did the red/purple marks get darker? etc.
  11. Does this body wash interefere with the ability to acquire a tan? Yes, I do know that tanning is harmful, but I apply sunscreen liberally when tanning. Thanks.
  12. Does taking Cefdinir interfere with the ability to acquire a tan? Yes, I know that tanning is not good for the skin but I am using 50 SPF sunblock while tanning. Thanks.
  13. Hi, I'm from the UK looking for an alternative moisturiser to use, because Dan's colours my face, and as much as I enjoy it, I can't put up with the colouring anymore. The link to the product, on the UK amazon website can be found here, where you can look at the ingredients and anything you need to: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Neutrogena-Sensitive-Oil-Free-Facial-Moisturizer/dp/B000052YOX/ref=cm_cd_al_qh_dp_t I noticed the 8th ingredient (Isopropyl isostearate) on the back of the product ha
  14. blah blah blah I know tanning causes cancer but I leave for florida soon so I would like to get a base tan..anyone had any successful experiences tanning while on tretinoin? Give me feedback please!
  15. I know that others have asked about tanning while on Accutane, but I've never actually seen anyone mention anything about the beach? I've been on Accutane before, but it was during the winter so I didn't have to worry about the sun. However, this is my second trial and now I live in Hawaii, so I am always at the beach or in the ocean, though Hawaii is on the equator, so it's closer to the sun. Will I have to stop going altogether? Or can I just douse myself in sunblock? What will happen if I
  16. k so i am taking accutane aka isotretinoin and ive been on accutane 20mg for month then 40mg for 4 months. so ok well this is a long story but ill make it short. i am going away with my friends on the 16th of may for a few days then i am coming back for a month to finish school than i am going away again for the whole summer and i wanted to stop my accutane proses now so i can go and tan and have fun with my friends but also because i feel like i cant take it any more too many side effect; howe
  17. Just wondering if anyone else enjoys tanning their skin to make their acne look better? Or if anyone has found that tanning helps temporarily clear their skin up? Before Accutane I used to use tanning beds a lot, can't say it reduced the number of spots but being brown made me feel so much better. Nearly a decade on, post Accutane I still have acne but now it's mild to moderate, not really cystic any more, and I find that if I go in the sun for long enough my skin clears up almost comple
  18. Products I use: Avon Naturals Papaya Whitening Cleanser Akneroxid 5 Benzoyl Peroxide Cream 5% (Prescribed) Aqueous Cream Moisturiser (Prescribed) Reaching around Week 2 or 3, I started to notice that I'd suddenly gotten more tan. I'm ALWAYS covered up, and have (at least I used to) naturally porcelain skin. In those weeks, I used Oxy Whitening Wash cleanser. People started to notice, as well, how much darker I'd gotten. I switched back to the Avon cleanser in Week 4-5, which helped a l
