  1. This thread is for differin users to share and support each other whilst going through treatment. I am currently completing Week 8 and the experience has been both terrifying and challenging mentally and emotionally. I have had clear skin all my life until a few months ago when I broke into white comedones specifically on my left cheek. Understanding the science on how differin works (hence, the IB) and actually dealing with it week after week is completely two different things. I felt like I
  2. I'm picking up my Rx for accutane in 2 days and am taking every precaution to avoid long term side effects. Of course, I've looked into liver support while on accutane and have 2 possible products: - Tyler's Detoxification Factors http://www.ritecare.com/prodsheets/TYL-141003.html - Liv.52 by Himalaya Herbal Healthcare http://www.himalayahealthcare.com/products/pharmaceuticals/liv52.htm I'm learning towards the Tyler's because I've heard much better reviews, and it's more readily av
  3. Hello everyone, hope you are well! I think we can all agree that acne sucks, right? It can cause you to feel self conscious, suffer with anxiety and cause long term self image issues - Along with many other feelings. I decided to make this blog because i have just started medication to try clear up my skin. ***disclaimer*** I understand that different things work for different people/different skin types and not all products with effect an individual in the same way, this is what has

    6 Months In...

Hello, Its been a while since I put up a blog or even been on the site since I started the Regimen. When I first started my skin was incredibly bad, like ugly raw skin bad. I guess it gets worst before it gets better. That's what my friend told me who recommended me this treatment. I'm not going to lie that whole month I felt ugly. I couldn't wear makeup, I couldn't be in the sun, and I even couldn't go out to do family stuff. I felt ugly because during the regimen I broke out so bad,
  5. Hi everyone! I'm Devon, I'm new here as a registered user, even though I've literally been to this website quite some time over the past 2 years. I guess what made me decide to start a blog here was that, as anyone with acne problems knows, this is something no one else can understand. I came here to be surrounded by other people who are sick of hearing "just try proactiv, you'll be alright" or "you're the only one who notices", etc. Sure, that's great that other people can tell me my face doesn
  6. I just started week 4 on the regimen and I am completely and utterly discouraged. Not only has my acne gotten worse since I have started the regimen, but it is the worst it has ever been in my life. I dealt with the dryness and the flakes for the first three weeks, but all I have no is just huge, painful, red, inflamed pimples that are overtaking my left cheek, left jawline, and right chin/jawline area. I know that I just need to stick with it because it has to get worse before it gets better, b
  7. Hi everybody, I am one of those people who don't really post much I just observe. However I come here often because its the only place I can feel better where people actually relate to my issues. People at my school and my friends all pretty much have perfect skin and my mom never suffered from acne so she doesn't understand why I spend much of my time crying or on my phone. I don't know what happened but I was so stressed and I broke out like crazy now adding to the additional scars on my f
  8. Hey I'm just in the middle of my fourth week of differin! Oh dear god ! The purge is so so bad .. It's like every spot I have ever had is having a reunion on my chin! Dear god I hope this gets bbetter soon ! Is anyone else experiencing this at the moment ? Feeling a bit on my own with this today! :/
  9. Does anyone else feel like this? I really never thought I'd be posting here, but I'm near the end of my line. I've followed some of these posts sporadically throughout the years when needed (thank you to all, seriously) but am currently - now more than ever - in real need of support and understanding. The short synopsis of my acne story? I had clear skin up until sophomore year of high school. I'm now 5 years strong with moderate acne mainly on my forehead and around my nose and chin occasion

    Day 1

Background of my acne. I started with adult acne around 3 years ago (aged 26). Until this point, I had never suffered with spots and had the most perfect skin. I was devastated...it wasn't gradual. I woke up one morning with huge, painful spots and my confidence hit the floor. I used heavy make up to cover the acne, which resulted in more aggressive spots...so, I went to my doctor who prescribed a 3 month course of anti-biotics. The anti-biotics made me feel queasy and as there wasn't any in
  11. Hello everyone, I hope you are well. I was a member here way back around 2004 to 2009 . Those were the worst times of my emotional battle with acne. I enjoyed talking to people on this board because I felt supported and people get me, without feeling like I'm being judged. Eventually, people stopped posting and I slowly moved on. I stopped getting active acne ( I guess it goes away on its on as you get older? I don't know). But the scars are here and I have lots of them, and they are here f
  12. Hello, first time poster here. I'll try not to ramble and do my best to keep this short. I'm 24 and had some form of acne since my teens, mostly on my chin and forehead. Over the years Iv'e tried - Birth control pills (including Dianette which kinda worked but i couldn't stay on it, came off it November 2016) Topicals - (Duac) + Benzoyl Peroxide Light therapy (Lumie Clear) BHA + AHA Retinol treatment Azelaic acid Eliminating foods from diet Countless face
  13. Can drinking tap water be bad for acne as it may not be filtered? I don’t usually drink a lot of water but I am starting to now as I want to improve my acne, I am worried that if I suddenly start to drink a lot now my skin will get a lot worse as it can purge if toxins are brought to the surface of skin due to suddenly drinking a lot of water, would a solution to this be to ease into it and slowly drink more and more water? Is drinking bottled water better than tap water for acne? So
  14. When applying Duac once daily gel I wash my hands with hand wash and then just wash my face with water before applying the gel, what cleansing routine should I be using to improve my acne? Should I be using some sort of soap when washing my face? I also dry my face with a paper towel/kitchen roll sheet instead of a towel as I find it is cleaner than towels, could this be making my acne worse as small bits from the paper towel/kitchen roll sheets could be sticking to my face and clogging po

  17. Hi everyone, I just recently started the Regimen. I've been through a lot of info on this website and after trying so many things finally broke down and started the regimen. I'm 20 years old and I've constantly struggled with acne since probably 11 or 12. After watching so many people my age magically grow out of their acne somehow I realized it just wasnt going to happen for me and I needed to try something new. I'm using all drug store products. I don't have them in front of me , but will
  18. "Never pop your zits." It's always in the back of our minds. "Just this one," we think. "Okay, fine, this one too," we murmur. We don't intend for one little scab to turn into 10, 20, 40, 100, etc, but somehow, it does. It's a relief, a temporary escape from your problems. You get a sort of sick satisfaction from finding anything in your pores, and when you pick, it puts you in a trance-like state, where you go to better places in your mind - where you calm down. You do it all the time,
  19. After years of trying to hide behind makeup and styling my hair to cover the "bad" side of my face, I finally decided to try Accutane. This year I will be turning 25 and I really just want to end having to deal with acne. Unfortunately, I work in a cut throat industry where how you look is important and it is horrible for my self esteem! Having to talk in front of everyone with my oil slick face during meetings doesn’t help. A little history on my acne: Some days my face will be ok with just
  20. So I could really use some advice as to what to do to help my acne. I've been battling acne for about 7 years. This is honestly the worst it's ever been. I have mild/moderate acne with cystic acne as well. I drink sooooo much water and NOTHING but water. Sometimes green tea when I get a chance. I've also changed my diet to no junk food or greasy foods. I wash my face with a pink grapefruit cleanser and a stress reliever toner every day and night both by Netrogena. I also use a moisturizer (Av
  21. If you live in a city but with greenery around is it better to keep your window closed or open a lot if you have acne and want it to improve? I am hoping the fresh air will improve the air in my room and that will help my acne.
  22. Hello fellow Acne Suffers! I am a 23 year-old young professional who has been dealing with acne and dermatillomania (compulsive skin picking) since I was 13 years old. I have been through the ringer, having seemingly tried every over the counter, prescription and ~natural~ remedy out there. I am currently taking spironolactone (hormonal pill) internally and topically using hempseed oil to oil cleanse while applying aczone at night. Thoughts & Information: Spiro- I have been tak
  23. I'm a 20 year old male. I'm white and have been dealing with acne since I was 12. It has always been around for me and its worst was in 8th and 9th grade. I went on Accutane bad it cleared up most of the really bad acne. But it never truly went away. I have been dealing with this for so long I feel like giving up the fight and just say screw it. It’s just too much. The only time I had clear skin and by that I mean maybe like 5 pimples black heads or w.e I'm not good with identifying what kind of
  24. I was just looking at photos of myself taken by a doctor. I look so horrible I can't believe it. I look worse than I thought. How did I get this bad? Not only is my skin scared, but I have deep wrinkles and dark circles in my eyes! My nose looks messed up too. The acne scars seem to be getting a bit better due to the subcision and laser, but that might be because of swelling. How did I end up looking this bad? I can't believe it! Is there hope? I'm already in my late 50s.
