  1. Hey, I just to get some personal feedback and experience for those who have taken zinc for their acne? I am currently looking for ways to help with my scars and get rid of those little bumps that take forever to go away. Anyway, please share, thank you Below is my current regime: Morning -Wash face a gentle cleanser by my derm (I lather the gel and pat on my face using the palms and then using my fingertips on those confined areas.) -Soak Epsom salt with water and spread the mixture

    Skin Frustration and Vitamin A

This year, I've become increasingly frustrated with my acne since it has started appearing more frequently in strange places - like my forearms, hands, fingers, and stomach. While in the past I put my acne concerns on the back burner, recent events have made fighting this acne a much higher priority. It's at least somewhat socially acceptable to have acne on the face - or on the back and chest - but not other weird places. It's just scary and frustrating to think that I might not have any c
  3. I'm in university right now and I've suffered a lot of emotional hardship as I battled my acne. In highschool, I used a topical from a dermatologist and for a year or so, it worked until one day, I broke out TERRIBLY bad overnight. Everyday, I looked at people with clear skin (I still do) and wondered why my skin wasn't like them. Why my friends didn't go through what I did. What hurt me the most back then was when people teased me about how huge my pimples were or how red I looked. Acne really

    Brands Of Zinc?

Im thinking of buying zinc to treat my acne on my chin/jawline. I have almost all of the symptoms of a zinc deficiency. I know i need chelated zinc, but what brand should i buy? I cant order online by the way. Thanks!
  5. Hey so I just recently found out a cheap method that surprisingly works well in controlling my acne, and I have been trying this for a month before posting to see if the results were consistent but to be sure can you guys try it out too, it should cost only at most $20. Anyways, this method is nothing new but it consists of taking 3 supplements that you can purchase at Walmart. These supplements are: Zinc, Vitamin D3 5000 IU, and Omega 3 Fish oil. The results I've had we're very significant,
  6. Hello, i'm new to this forum, and hopefully i'll be able to get some good answers from you. Currently I'm 20, and i'll be 21 at the end of the year. I used to have acne in my face and also chest and back, and I took the accutane treatment for almost 10 months, finally erasing it all from my body. Then, after 6 months, I started taking workout supplements like animal pak (Multivitamins) and also whey protein. After almost one or two months using that supplements, I had another acne breakout.
  7. So, I'm anemic (probably because of my baaad diet) I'm starting to take a multivitamin which has iron, B12 and many other vitamins but I made sure it had no iodine...do you think it will make my acne worse? I heard iodine is the main culprit for breakouts caused by multivitamins

Ginko Biloba Has Anyone Tried It?

Hi, I'm having mixed feeling about the ginko biloba supplement. I felt like it helped me the first couple days and suddenly I get multiple cysts. Has anyone tried this with a similar or different experience? Thanks
  9. Hey guys, So I've been going to the gym, eating a lot more, and just started taking Carnivor beef protein isolate protein supplement. I have also been on Accutane for about a month. Is it safe to take Carnivor beef protein isolate protein supplement while on Accutane? The reason I'm asking is because the protein supplement bottle says "Loaded with Creatine".....and I've heard mixed explanations with Creatine and acne. Keep in mind this supplement ISN'T pure CREATINE, it just has creatine in
  10. Hi I started taking maca root powder around 1 month ago, with this recipe which uses 2 tbsp of maca: http://madeleineshaw.com/recipes/raw-chocolate-and-maca-balls/. after doing research claiming maca clears skin, balances hormones etc. I thought I had to try it. I have not taken it on it's own as the smell was awful so I didn't think i would like the taste, so i used this recipe to cover the taste. I eat between 3-4 of these cacao/maca balls a day, sometimes less, anyway one month on and I h

    Supplement Log!

Howdy! So I've been off accutane for a month now and my face is starting to get really oily again. Will oil comes some acne once again, and I want to do everything I can to prevent this. I'm going to college in a month, so my mom won't let me go on accutane again. In other words, I have decided to research countless hours and have decided a regimen that I thought would be good for me. I have been taking zinc and vitamin e the past month, but from what I could tell nothing major has happened. I
  12. hello everyone, Looking for advice for those who have been on accutane or are currently on accutane treatment. I just started treatment 3weeks ago. everything is going great. I should be going from 20mg to 40mg next week. Have had very little side effects so far (dry lips, itchy scalp). Female, late 20s, 97lbs/44kg. I want to start taking this supplement shake called the "Women shake". not looking to lose weight but just a boost of goodness in my daily diet (it's got good pre and probioti

    Zinc Supplement?

So I'm seeing my Nutritionist soon ish hopefully, and I've read A LOT of posts about Zinc helping/fixing their acne. What Zinc supplement is the best, also one that you can buy in the stores? And how long should it take to see results from the Zinc? thanks. I want to ask my Nutritionist if it's OK to take them.
  14. Hi I'm an 18 year old guy who has suffered from mild acne for around 4 years now. I'm very skinny (3.9% body fat) and I'm a competitive runner so exercise is not an issue. These are the supplements I am taking Vitamin A 25,000IU daily (started today) Vitamin B complex (100% rda of all B vitamins) Vitamin C powder ~ 3 grams daily Vitamin D have been taking 10,000iu daily but severe deficiency, doctor advised to start 30,000 daily (started yesterday) Vitamin E 400iu (started the other
  15. Hi there, So I've been acne free for about the past 4 months, with the occasional pimple. For a while when my acne was bad, I had visited this site and always sought advice or information on how to curb my issue. I figure it's important to reciprocate what has been helpful to me, and may benefit others and their situation! I'm a 17 year old dude, and was on an antibiotic called Solodyn for a few months. It showed great improvements for me, but I didn't want to become reliant on the drug. I disc

Herbs To Get Rid Of Acne

Hi I'm not advocating this product but I used it to help clear acne instead of antibiotics, Accutane or hormone pills (any oral medication)... Check this Ayurvedic herbal supplement out - Purim tablets by Himalaya http://www.himalayahealthcare.com/products/purim.htm You can read more about my oral medication free regimen here Thanks http://www.acne.org/messageboard/index.php/topic/310273-my-epimycin-regimen-worked-without-oral-medication/
  17. Hello! I wonder about what type of zinc you guys that have tested it took. How long did it take before results showed? I have heard that you should avoid zinc sulfate but it sounds like bullshit. I'm on a pretty tight budget så I wonder if it is best with (for maximum effect and results) with 25mg zink sulfate daily, or 25mg zink gluconate and zink picolinate, or 15mg zinc citrate. Which of these types is the best and which is the worst, if I had too choose?
  18. History 19 year old male with mainly inflammatory acne on forehead and chin (none on cheeks) for over four years No dairy diet, low sugar but still not overly healthy diet by any means (regular chicken and takeaways) Moderate exercise Never tried any topical treatment Non-irritating shampoo / body wash Current "regime" First thing in the morning: 500mg Milk Thistle extract (standardised to 80% silymarin) & 460mg Burdock Root With my first "big" / fatty meal: 10,000IU Vitamin D3 &amp
  19. hi everyone, im basically new to using supplement for body building. Since about 2 months ago I've been using 100% gold standard whey (optimumnutrition dot com) and jack3d (jack-3d dot com), but I realize one of these two (or both) supplements are giving me consistent acne breakouts. If I try my best to eat healthy and don't use supplement at all, I would only grow acne once every 2-3 weeks and sometimes they are just pimples. But ever since I bought these supplements, I always grow acne at leas
  20. Hey guys, I started using the supplement Acnescript in 2010 after reading about it on these boards. It has been a near miracle cure for me, so I was pretty devastated to get an email from them yesterday saying the company is closing. When I went to their website they were sold out of the remaining product. Has anyone found a good substitute product for Acnescript? For those unfamiliar with it, 2 capsules contain 500 mg of B5, 2 mg of B6, 3 mg of zinc, mangosteen extract, curcumin, and green
  21. Hello! I have been on Retin-A 0.1% for almost a year now. For the most part I've been very happy with it... but, I guess I'm feeling frustrated. about two months back i was getting foundation matched at the counter and the lady used what seemed like an alcohol makeup remover... or something along those lines. Anyways it gave me a chemical burn for a good week and I suffered from rashes all down my chest. So I kinda had to taper off the Retin-A to every other day so my face wouldn't hurt so bad
  22. So I've always wondered how I can optimize and make my personal regimen more efficient at what it does, all while benefiting my health (I drink tons of water, eat a lot of greens - I have Celiac disease so I don't have much choice - etc...) I had my mom pick up some Zinc supplement tablets today and I took one after eating my dinner because of the side effects if you don't take it with food. Now, my supplement is only 10mg. I'm thinking of taking it both morning and night (after dinner) to se
  23. Hey everyone, As some of you might know, I'm a month off accutane and my oily skin is coming back so I'm researching more into supplements to help. I currently take zinc and vitamin e, and plan to start vitamin D3 very soon. I was researching some more and found Vitamin B5. Do you recommend it? Thanks! Oh and what was your dosage too!
  24. Hey there! I just stumbled across a blog that talks about a "vitamin cocktail" that helped clear her acne. Consists of Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Zinc and Borage Seed Oil Here is the link: *Moderator edit, URL removed – please read the board rules* Basically, she went to a holistic dermatologist who then put her on these supplements and she claims her skin cleared up! So, I'm very interested in trying this "cocktail" daily and seeing what my results are. I think it's an excellent change
  25. I know food affects my acne, but I'm not sure how. It seems like if I eat a lot of anything I break out, and if I don't eat very much, I break out less. So that lead me to try a low glycemic load diet, which helps, but isn't enough. If I eat a lot of food, even if it is still in low glceymic load meals, I break out more than I would if I ate less. I can cut out certain foods and see if that helps, but I really don't think I have an allergy or anything. And if I did that, I would lose weight,
