  1. Can anyone recommend me a place online where I can get Spironolactone (or the generic brands) without a prescription? (best if it ships overseas)~ My doctor in Canada used to prescribe it to me but I'm out of the country and the kind of anti-androgen medications here are very different. I'm running out already and is very desperate... any help will be greatly appreciated!!
  2. Hi! I was wondering if anyone can help me? I'm looking for a doctor in Phoenix, AZ or somewhere in the area who is familiar with and willing to prescribe spironolactone for my hormonal acne. I have had acne for almost 20 years and accutane was the only thing that helped. But, it has come back and I would rather not go back on accutane again. My derm wasn't willing to prescribe Spironolactone and said that my skin wasn't that bad. I am sick of dealing with acne and I would like to try Spiro. Does

My endocrinologist recently prescribed me Spiro at 200 mg a day (that's 8 25-mg pills!). Does this seem like a lot? Thanks!

    Birth control and Spironolactane

Hello! I'm new to this website and like most of you have tried MANY different meds, lotions, creams, etc. I was prescribed accutane, but decided to try spironolactone first. Does anyone know if you have to be on BC with this med, or what the difference is if you arn't? I've read a lot of peoples posts that they loved spironolactone, but are the results just as good without BC? Can't seem to find a answer. Thanks!
  5. Hi Everyone, I have been prescribed Spironolactone by a derm, and I have been on it for 3 months with only a LITTLE improvement. However, he will NOT up m dosage and I'm really frustrated. I was wondering if any of you had ever purchased medication online with out a scrip--is this a totally horrible idea? I know it's expensive. How can I tell if the source is even reputable, or if the meds are expired? Please help if you have any info!! Thanks, Allie

    Adult acne

PCOS, acne link: presence of polycystic ovaries not required for diagnosis. (Special report: gender-specific dermatology). Dermatology Times, Feb, 2003, by Liz Meszaros Toronto -- Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) may be linked to acne in adult women, but its prevalence in these women and the specifics of which of these women may need more extensive work-ups and referrals are still largely an unknown. Dermatologists should be aware of the link and the treatment modalities available for PCOS, s
  9. Okay so I finally got my referral to the Derm (yay) my last doctor was an ass and didnt think i needed to see a derm so i went to a different one. 11. Ladies, can you help me? I'm looking for a doctor in NJ (central, hopefully, but will happily travel) who is familiar with and willing to prescribe spironolactone for this god-awful hormonal acne. My derm wasn't willing and honestly, I've had enough "character building" at 41 years of age! Thanks for any help!
  12. I am a 22 year old male. I have been plagued by acne for the last 3-5 years. I saw my GP today. Up until now, I have been using Retin-A cream, and it makes the acne get better sometimes, but it always gets worse again. I have also been put on antibiotics in the past without adequate results. I asked my GP about putting me on Spironolactone, but he said that Spironolactone is not FDA-approved for treating acne. He did give me a referral to a dermatologist and suggested that I could ask the

    Dehydrated From Spiro

Hi All! Just after some advice re Spiro. I started on 50 mg for 1 month, went up to 100 mg then up to 150 mg at the 4 month mark. Almost overnight, my skin went from an oily shiny mess to (what feels like) a prune! I feel SO extremely dry and dehydrated and have so from the start. I drink atleast 3 litres of plain water a day, along with either peppermint or camomile tea. Absolutely NO caffeine and one or two wines a month maybe. My lips are always dry and flakey. Although I never get dizzy, nau

  17. Hey, I was wondering if anyone knows why spironolactone would stop working? After taking it for about a month I saw a HUGE decrease in my oil production. Then about 2 weeks later, for some unknown reason, I am back to my initial oil production. I am on the same does (100mg a day). Can anyone think of a reason why this would happen?
  18. I have Posted this in the reviews for this website. I would also like some feedback and recommendations from you guys. (: Thank you! First, I want to share my background. I have never had a problem with acne. I have always had very smooth clear skin, with an occasional outbreak. I started washing with proactive in 2006 when I was 18 for prevention of those minor outbreaks (I don't recommend this because it destroys your skins natural barrier). Two years ago, in 2011, I started getting a cys
  19. The rundown: I've been on aldactone (no less than 50 mg, 100 mg for a while) since September 2009. I am in the end-run of laser hair removal (taken up to help with acne, and just in general). I am half-Asian, have light to medium skin tone, and have still suffered serious, semi-permanent hyperpigmentation due to the lasers and aldactone. During two years of Accutane, I NEVER experienced the awful pitting, inelasticity, and permanent red/purple marks and bumpiness/bad texture I did on a

    I'm SO Sad :-(

After decades of suffering with oily skin & cystic acne... I have found my cure. Spironolactone. But I can't take it. It give me a horrible racy heart beat, itchiness & anxiety. My skin after 3 weeks is so smooth & peachy... I just want to touch myself all the time. I even lost a few pounds in water weight (it's a diuretic). But I am dreading morning I wake to cysts & oil as they will surely appear in a day or two b/c I had to stop taking it a few days ago. In my saddness.
  21. Hello all, I am currently in my fourth week of taking spironolactone 50 mg once a day. I don't have severe acne. Just mild breakouts that are extremely annoying, so I was prescribed this medicine. However, I'm not seeing any improvement yet. My skin is just the same as it was when I started. I figured I'd be seeing some difference in my skin after four weeks. I'm considering asking my derm if I can bump up to 100 mg a day. Will this help? And also, will I get another initial breakout

    Bad Diagnosis

Today I was formally diagnosed with PCOS. I can't even begin to describe the level of devastation that I am feeling right now. Though I'm very thin, I'm worried I will develop all of the problems that PCOS can potentially bring on. I don't even feel like a woman. Though I love Spironolactone and the partial relief that it's given me, I don't think I can handle this news. It's just too much.

    Vanoxide Hc

So, I am on week 10 of Retin-A-Micro and I am fed up with these spots. I had three inflamed pimples come up yesterday, and though they have nearly healed, they tend to leave red marks even after they have gone. If my spots continue to come at week 12, I will stop using the product. So far I don't like it much at all. Until then, I have been given Vanoxide HC lotion that I am supposed to use once or twice daily. But because I have such a fear of another IB, I haven't used it yet, and I've had
  24. I have a derm appointment next week and am going to ask about Spironolactone. I have read that you are not supposed to take it if you are allergic to sulfa drugs. Any one know if this is true? Is there an alternative to Spironolactone that has similar effects on acne?? Help, I really want to explore this option.
  25. I have been reading a lot of the topics in this forum, but haven't really found a clear answer to whether spironolactone has better results when taken with birth control or not. I was also wondering, generally (not just concerned with results), is it safer or healthier to take them in combination?
