    Day Two: Skincare

Day Two of my skincare routine: Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser (morning and night) Mario Badescu Glycolic Acid toner (morning and night) Mario Badescu Drying Lotion (morning and night, depending on daytime schedule) I love this gentle skin cleanser guys. if you've ever tried high-end cleansing milks, this is highly comparable. So as an update from yesterday, my skin is feeling so much less tight and the peeling seems to be almost gone completely (after a whole week). I washe

    Day One: Skincare

Skincare changes began tonight: 7/9/2016 I quit panoxyl 10% and my persa-gel 10 (although it's a great spot treatment, it's too irritating). I used vaseline on my face and neck to help bring in moisture due to cracked and excessively dry, flaky skin from benzoyl peroxide. I washed that off with cetaphil gentle skin cleanser (a holy grail product) I currently will be using 3 products for the next 2 weeks. Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser (morning and night)
  3. I woke up with a startle in the middle of the night having a nightmare. And it was simply this: There was a giant, hideous, monstrous scab on my face, and I was picking it off. I can still remember precisely where it was: on my right side, where the picked at spot on my face is presently. The scab was between the size of a nickel and a quarter. It was as discolored and otherwise unpleasant looking as you might imagine, so I'll stop there. But I ripped it off my face, and instantly woke up to rea
  4. My skin is not the best but it has been improving with using very gentle aha exfoliation and proper hydration. I'm currently on a holiday and my skin has been doing pretty decent. However 3 nights ago, i accidentally took caffine a little too late and i couldn't sleep at all for the entire night... Subsequently, for the next 3 days I've been breaking out heavily at my cheeks mainly and on my forehead. And I've been suspecting my acne maybe heavily related to my sleep. Whenever i sleep late doing
  5. Revised due to: caffeine's effect on melatonin, and folate's ability to influence light-induced melatonin suppression. Morning EGCG + caffeine along with moving folate intake to evening is about the only significant trick I've discovered in the last couple of years. Recap: Zinc is one of the longest-studied nutrients that correlates with statistically significantly less acne. Some months years ago, I discovered that around 200mg/day of zinc picolinate could, under some circumstances, make m
  6. From the album: My Skin

Hey... My skin is looking pretty frickin' good lol. I've been sleeping more these last few days (even going as far as to take naps during the day) & drinking more water. I stopped taking evening primrose oil; it didn't seem to agree with my skin as far as I could tell, but it could've been something else. Right now I'm sticking to Beta Carotene, & added a collagen pill last night. I'm also washing off my makeup again before bed. Good results compared to my last pic. I'm happy.
  7. Hi there, I've been lurking these forums for a little while now and I see a lot of people claiming a change of diet was the one cure for their acne. What information I can find about the diet/acne connection is limited and inconclusive and it makes me skeptical. I want to try it but I don't know where to start. What I do know is that I get enough sleep (most of the time, but I'm working on it), I wash and moisturize morning and night and exfoliate every few days (I might stop, it may be irritati
  8. Not sure if this topic has been posted before, sorry if it has. I'm currently 6 weeks into using retin-A, but have also been trying to improve my sleeping habbits as I've often read a lack of sleep doesn't help acne. The problem is I never, ever get a good nights sleep. I wake up many times throughout the night, and often don't actually feel tired till around midnight. I think I probably only get around 5 hours a night, so i'd really like to get that up to a solid 8 hours if possible. So fa
  9. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m9qX4ao4yjU Hey everyone my name is Connor. I took Accutane for 5 months, 80 mg a day when I was 17 years old. I am now 19 and in the past few months have taken my recovery seriously and have made some great progress. I am feeling better now. I would like to share some experiences and what is working for. The main points I a want to get across are: You can recover. It is entirely possible. Depending on the how hard you work will determine how fast you improve.
  10. Hi! I've noticed that when I sleep on a clean pillowcase my breakouts are less severe. Have you tested this too? I'm considering buying a bunch of pillowcases to change nightly to help with my acne.

    Week One

Alright so I skipped a few days because of college midterms, but my skin has improved soooooo much. I have been using garlic and my MB drying lotion for active breakouts. I have about 3 active pimples but they're going away day by day and hopefully won't be accompanied by more. I broke out most where my skin was overly dry and peeling. My 2 stress pimples I got, that I popped have gone flat completely and the one on my cheek has maybe one day left to completely heal. I went to the beach a couple

    Day One: Realization

Day One: Realization Hello and welcome to my blog, I hope you can enjoy these posts and I bring a sense of happiness to your day!:) Firstly I am 18, a recent high school graduate and about to finish my 2-year degree in business. I obviously have experiences with stress - and that's what this first post is going to be all about. Exactly a week ago I went clubbing with my friend for her birthday and some lovely (sarcasm) human being slid my phone out of my pocket and basically stole it. Right t
  13. I have been using epsom salts topically last few weeks. Dissolved in hot water then left on face for a minute or so in shower. My erythromelalgia has also been worsening during this time which has led to broken/worse quality sleep. Could be coincidental but i'm sure i have made this association before. Probably coincidental and other possible factors such as weird weather etc but with breakouts continuing pointless carrying on. Seems unlikely i will never get through my shit load of
  14. Hey Guys, I am an 18 year old male in college, and I have been on accutane for probably around a month a few weeks. I am on 60mg (30mg 2x a day) I am using Cetaphil at night only, and splashing my face with water in the AM. My face hasn't showed any major signs of improvement and is really really red and splotchy. I also am continuing to get new breakouts at almost the same rate I did before accutane. I have multiple questions that have been in the back of my mind that I haven't had a c
  15. What are your thoughts on supplementing magnesium? Any success or improvements? Which form/brands do you prefer? I heard magnesium glycinate is the most gentle form o f magnesium. What are your thoughts or suggestions? And how much do you take? Do you take any other supplements with it? Notice any bowel differences or differences in sleep pattern? Thank you very much!
  16. Managing Adult Cystic Acne without a Dermatologist or Prescriptions Why I wrote this Over the years I have google searched to help fight my acne and I have found many helpful posts on this board. I want to give back and possibly help someone in a similar situation google searching. DISCLAIMER: I don’t claim that any of this is safe or that it will work for you. Some of this stuff may in fact harm you. Many in this community will say that some of this stuff is unsafe/doesn’t work/is counter-p
  17. im used to sleeping with my face on the pillows and sleeping on my stomach. i think this plays a big part on my acne but i dont know how to break from this habit.... am i the only one who has this problem???

I have no idea if it affects acne, but sleep is a state where the body can rid itself of toxins and rejuvenate itself, hopefully flushing out nasties from your skin. More sleep also is said to lead to less stress, and stress is something which can cause breakouts, so its gotta be good, right? Pros: Its just great, stress relieving, restorative. Cons: Being unable to sleep sucks really bad. As does getting to sleep and waking up. If you have trouble sleeping, some remedies are: lavender o
  19. Its been about one year since i started my treatment! Lots to update everyone about. My skin is doing great, but not perfect! I do have some hyperpigmintation from the acne left over, but I don't really break out anymore Clear skin!..? Skin Picking After my 30 day picking challenge, I had no urge to pick anymore! Success! Lol but it doesnt mean i don't pick at all anymore. If i have a massive blackhead sticking out of my face, i will pick it. The only difference now is that I don't FIND un
  20. Lots of people argue that WHEN you go to bed and wake up (not how much sleep you get) doesn't have a lot to do with your skin. I came across a poll made by another member in the forums and I found it interesting that only a small number of people go to bed from 9-11 PM. What's even more interesting is that I've known a lot of people who go to sleep at around 10 PM and wake up around 6 AM every single day, and they have PERFECT skin. As in, they could eat french fries for life and wash their
  21. I'm trying to find out how much people's lifestyle affects their acne. I've not had any attempt to change the way I live until now so I can deal with acne better. So basically here's how I deal with life. Sleep: I get around 6-7 hours. Sometime's I sleep really late, as a college student in the field of architecture, there will be times when I don't even sleep. Diet: I eat everything I want. Very little veggies, I eat fruits here and there but not regularly. I'm a big carnivore. Exer
  22. I've told my story numerous times in other topics, so I am going to keep this short. Bottom line is, I am a 20 years old guy with very persistent acne. At some point, it was terrible enough for me to take Accutane, which worked very nice during the time I took it. Acne came back shortly after finishing a long, low dose course. Now it is annoying enough to ruin some of my days but not as bad as before. Accutane was the only thing that ever worked for me, and here are some facts that I've noticed
  23. Hi all, 1. I have been on and off the regimen for the past month. I'll begin with admitting that it has somewhat cleared my skin, but there are a few breakouts every now and then. However, these breakouts are not the problem. The problem is that my face is really dry, red, and itchy as hell. A little bit of dry- and redness I can handle, though. It's the damn itch that I cannot stand; it results in me not getting enough sleep. This, in turn, is making me depressed and I constantly feel exhaust
  24. Hi all! I suffered from really bad boils and spots on the back of my head around 3 months ago so my GP put me on lymocycline for 3 months. Problem sorted, not! My prescription ended around 3 days ago and the boils have came back twice as bad! I can't sleep at night as it's too painful to put my head on a pillow. My doctor put me back on lymocycline for a month to see how it plays out but I fear it will not clear up :/ any suggestions on how to sleep with acne? Thanks
