  1. I'm new to this website and I hope I'm posting this in the right place. I have never had really bad acne, but I got small painful breakouts all over the place, mostly during my menstrual cycle. A year ago, I went on birth control and it worked wonders on my skin. A month ago I was on antibiotics for an infection and besides my body going crazy, so did my face. I turned into a pizza. Now, I have no idea if this is the culprit of the outbreak, but I can't possibly think of any other reason. I didn't have any dietary changes or anything of the sort. A few weeks ago I decided to stop wearing makeup and using drugstore face products and pursue a natural organic skin care routine. I have been trying different products to see what works for my skin, but I'm not sure if it's affecting my face or not. It's hard to tell what works when my acne won't go away. Another thing, is that I am severely lactose intolerant, but still consume a considerable amount of milk products because well, I can't break it. (Yell at me all you want, I already know the consequences of my actions.) I'm thinking of cutting out dairy to see if that could be the cause. I'm not sure though, I'm quite stuck. If anyone has had any similar issues, has had the same thing on BC or can offer any advice, it would be much appreciated. Also, I'm leaving for school soon and am not able to see a doctor, so hold off on such advice. Thanks.
  2. Hey people, I don't really know why but the BP has suddenly started to sting, I have been using it for the best part of a year now and I used it last night too, but tonight it's just stinging like a bitch! Has this happened to anyone else? I tolerate BP perfectly, usually
  3. Hi! im relatively new to the regimen, i started it a couple weeks ago and made the mistake of using 10% bp, my skin turned red and eventually i had a layer of dead skin that peeled of in large flakes, my skin felt tight and moisturizer did little to help but my acne seems to slowed and such. Im planning on buying from acne.org so i can stop with the hit and misses when buying from the store. As of right now i still get smaller dry flakes on my skin and cannot apply any more bp since i only have 10%, so instead im using a 5% wash waiting 5-15 minutes than applying moisturizer , but still after the moisturizer absorbs into my skin the flakes always seem to come back. So im asking for advice to get rid of these dry flakes. When i buy the basic acne.org bundle should i get jojoba oil to help moisturize my skin, or should i get AHA which is supposed to chemically exfoliate my skin. I have no experience with either product. Will AHA worsen the flakes on my skin? or will it help give me a healthy looking complexion? Or should i get jojoba oil to help moisturize to limit the dry skin, iv also heard of using a lot of jojoba oil and gently exfoliating the skin and slowly take off the dry flakes but that sounds tidius, not reliable, and possibly irritating to the skin. ANY HELP OR EXPERIENCE IS MUCH APPRECIATED!

    Acne not leaving

I had mild acne, so I was prescribed minocycline 100mg a day along with other home remedies. I have been doing this for 5 months and saw little improvement so my dose was increased to 200mg a day along with retin a. I exercise daily, no dairy, moisturize, change sheets every 3 days, plenty of water along with vitamin A and C supplements. My acne has seemed to be getting worse recently and I feel hopeless. Any ideas?
  5. I don't know what to do anymore, every time I think about or look at my skin it makes me so mad. I've tried everything, wasted probably thousands of dollars on treatments only to have my skin break out again, I have acne on my face, neck, shoulders, back, and chest. It cleared up pretty well when I was 17 but when I started weight training my skin went mad with breakouts. That's when I went and saw a derm and they prescribed me accutane, I did the cycle and it worked well, but about 3 months after I got off of accutane my skin began to experience breakouts again, I hate the fact that I have friends who literally never wash their face, eat a shitty diet, and never excersize that have flawless skin, yet if I forget to change my pillow case one night or eat a cheeseburger I wake up with 5 new pimples, my dad had pretty cystic acne as a teenager, but he was completely clear by the time he was 17 he said and my mom never had acne, I've had acne since I was 10, I'm now 20 and have seen no improvements, in fact I didn't even start getting body acne until I was 18. I shower once in the morning and night with lukewarm water, that's where I wash my face with a sebum dissolver and I always make sure I'm gentle, I then apply spot cream and moisturizer, I drink a gallon of water a day, stay away from dairy, eat as healthy as possible, change my shirts mutiple times a day, always sleep in clean bedding. Acne is severely affecting my self confidence at this point, when I look I the mirror it's all I can see, it honestly stops me from going out and enjoying my life sometimes, does anyone know anything that could possibly help me, and please don't give me the it will go away with age, people have been telling me that for the past 10 years.
  6. Has any of you tried Perfectil and did you like the effect? I'm commercial addicted))) Don't know if I should try it as my skin has a specific problem - acne. How do you think, will it help in my case?

    Turmeric For Oily Skin

one teaspoon twice a day. I took it for my acne but noticed the oil on my forehead dried up perfectly. Try it D:
  8. In fact, I've tried many things. Mud masks, as well. Today would like to ask your opinion on whether you've ever tried the mud masks. It doesn't matter if you have an acne prone skin or dry skin or even rosacea (as the mud types vary as well and have different effects) Share your impressions if you did.
  9. Hello! I have just finished my course on Accutane, woohoo! I have been experiencing very red skin for months now, both on, and now off Accutane. I never had the problem before taking the medication, but now I get a lot of comments about it, and it sucks! My skin will randomly feel very hot and get extremely red a few times a day at school, but normally it's just red, and my hands are both red and cold (no pain or discomfort!). I also get very sweaty palms. please help me! Thanks
  10. I have very very very dry skin, it looks really bad, looks like im shedding, i don't want to wipe the dead skin off because i don't want to irritated my acne. Right now my acne is very bad, im afraid the dead skin is clogging my pores more. Any suggestions would be helpful, thank you!
  11. Okay, so I used to check out this site all the time, desperately looking for something to help. I found the cure to my acne, it took almost 10 years but I found it. I feel like I owe it to this site to post it for the rest of you, maybe this will help someone. A little background, I'm female in my early 20s. I had absolutely terrible skin as a teenager, went on birth control and it helped a bit, but my skin never really cleared up. By university I was getting a zit a week or so, pretty big ones but it was totally manageable. I went off birth control a couple years ago for health reasons and my skin had been a nightmare ever since. I had scarring for the first time ever, I actually cut my hair to cover my forehead, it was horrendous, I was so embarrassed. Anyways, around the same time I was having other issues and took a food intolerance test at Rexall, its called hemocode I believe. I had a list of about 6 severe intolerances, including coffee, sugar, cocoa, and a couple more I can't remember, plus a bunch of minor intolerances. I cut out gluten, and it did wonders for my other health issues. Coffee was easy to remove, I cut out all processed sugars, replacing them with fruits. I felt better, but my skin actually got worse. About a year later I discovered my love for dried fruits, and my skin became worse than it had ever been. I was so devastated I figured it was probably time to go back on the pill, but I had one last idea. Maybe the sugar on my test wasn't limited to cane sugar, honey and syrups. I cut out all fruit, tomatoes, sweet potatoes, squash, anything with any sugar in it at all. Almost instantly, my skin cleared up. That was it. So my best advice for all of you isn't to cut out all sugar... this is a really difficult diet and I don't recommend it to anyone that doesn't have to. My advice is to take the intolerance test, and eliminate from there, testing out one or two at a time. My skin has entirely cleared up, my scarring is healing, I am so, so happy and excited about this. Hope this can help someone out there with the same problem. For the record, the only fruits I can eat are grapefruit, lemons, limes, and thats it. I can eat all vegetables excluding tomatoes, winter squash, sweet potatoes, and limit carrots. Good luck
  12. I've been on accutane for about a month now.A weird thing I've noticed is that I am seeing these shallow scars being formed after the skin getting peeled off(or flaked) from places where there was acne.Is this supposed to happen?
  13. Hey guys. I badly need help. I’ve been being really conscious and pressured at clearingmy acne. Im literally the one that tried EVERY SINGLE OTC products- from facial washes, peeling agents (astringents/Salicylic/Hydroquine/tretinoin) soaps, creams. Ok, heres my background. Im from a tropical country and a student, the only product that has decently (decent for me means that after using that product, no more than one or two new pimples will pop out) worked on me are peeling agents specifically Hydroquine-Tretinoine. Its a product I discovered that features both anti acne and clears the spots (literally). while the skin peels, removing all the darkspots and my old skin, not even a sngle acne popped out. The only thing I hated about this kind of product (peeling) is that my face gets SO red. Trust the bold and caps. When I use this product, I make sure that I will NOT even put a foot outside our hide because if I cant even manage to look at my own face, how can others, right? It only takes one week domt worry Here’s what it does: Day 2 you will get darn red, day 3 you get a darker shade of red, day 4-6 shedding, day 7 you will have a literally naked skin. it looks so bare to the point that your skin is not dry, not oily, and not elastic. This is the point that I take care of it extremely- I sleep facing towards the ceiling, moisturizes, and use mild soaps. It was rainbows and unicorns at first, but fuck it was bad when i recall it and I dont wan to experience it again. Right now, i want to try out Benzac- the 2.5 one since I read a lot of good infos about it as well as reviews. Still, I cant get the courage to but it right now even if i can since i have lots of questions going through my head and google can asnswer it directly. Please, what I need is answers not background. There are times that when you give an answer and explain yourself, it makes the reader confused of what you are trying to say. Are you saying yes, no, or just explaining the effects of it? Q1: Im from a tropical country, shall I expect redness from using Benzac. I am expecting micropeeling like how kojic soap makes my skin very lightly peel to the point I see flakes of skin BUT it doesnt make my skin red. Yeah Benzac is my last resort. Im planning on turning to lasers and microneedling stuffs. Im really sad to say this unlike otc products that gives really blurred answers on my questions, dermatological procedures has very enlightening and clear answers. Q2: My reciepts are the proof of my trial and error. Shall I try my luck with Derma procedures like fractional needling?

  15. I should have posted here years ago, but it’s taken me a while. I have suffered from hormonal acne since I was 22, I was spot free in my teens. Bad skin has plagued me from early 20’s and I’m now 30. The acne is below and around the corners of my mouth. I have allot of white heads. I have reasons to believe my outbreaks are related to my menstrual cycle. Maybe someone is able to suggest what hormones are causing. I’m a little sceptical at paying for hormone testing as I heard it’s not so accurate and In not sure they best time to test, and what hormones. It’s not something I can get for free. Here is my skin pattern on my cycle: · End of period- Skin starts producing oil. Skin is at its worst now and every day it’s dripping for 2 weeks after the end of my period. · Ovulation - skin improves. It’s glowing and oily production is greatly reduced · Days leading up to period – skin is oil free, before and during my period. So this is very strange because usually people suffer oily skin towards the end of their cycle. Lately I have noticed that my skin is actually getting oilier and oilier and even oilier at the end of my cycle, which is usually when it’s dry. I just don’t know what to do. I have tried so many supplements. I would appreciate your feedback!
  16. i have red spots and i want to conceal them but because of the peeling skin it is hard as it looks cakey and during mid day my skin just becomes flakey and i can't put make up on it again. Also how long does these red marks from acne take to fade? Im scared to use natural acidic products as my skin is still sensitive and my derm gave me products to use for my face (own company made, quite good) so should i buy my own products to help lighten my red marks? if so any recommendations?

    Anxious about acne

Hello, I just made this account on this website out of desperation for some possible answers to my questions. I'm 16 and from about 14/15 I've just had a few cluster of spots on my left upper cheek until recently I've been breaking out on both sides, on the sides of my nose, forehead and chin. It's never been this bad before and I'm getting anxious and paranoid. It's only mild acne but getting me down, beforehand I was already dealing with Body Dysmorphic Disorder about other areas of my body so this coming a long right now was not helpful, I'm now so self conscious of my skin... Are people looking? Do they think I'm disgusting? Dirty? Will any one ever love me? I eat pretty good, considering I've been vegan since I was twelve and therefore had to eat lots of fruit and veg. The most unhealthy thing I consume is probably bread (only brown bread) or cereal. So I'm not sure if diet is my issue but maybe there is something I'm missing or consuming that's making it worse... I eat a lot of soy (tofu, soy milk etc) do you think perhaps that might trigger something? My sister eats junk food all the time yet has perfect clear skin. I go jogging almost every night and walks daily so I somewhat get exercise but because I've been feeling really ugly I've been staying in recently. I've been doing red/blue light therapy every day at home and on the BC pill although I still feel iffy of that but my mother said it will work... I think I've become a bit obsessed with my skin, do you think perhaps the stressing over my skin is what is making it worse? I've always had a habit of picking my skin too, whether it be scabs, dry skin, spots, dry scalp... I've been trying to distract myself to stop picking and I'm getting better but still catch myself doing so sometimes. My skin just looks so dirty and bumpy and red, scars and scabs. I get so upset and angry when I look in the mirror and I've heard of acne just getting worse as you get older and I worry about that too. Does anyone have any tips how to deal with it psychically and emotionally? Hope you're all doing well, best wishes to everyone on their journeys.
  19. I am quite pale, but my skin has yellow undertones and everything looks pink on me The only thing I've found that matches me almost to perfection is Vichy Normaderm BB cream, but it clings horribly to my dry acne patches and dries out my skin. Also, it is still a bit too pink. I'm looking for a BB cream if possible, but a lightweight foundation is a good option too. Esteé Lauder, True Match and Revlon ColorStay are not an option. Esteé Lauder broke me out, and in my country Revlon and Covergirl don't carry the lightest shade. Too expensive to get off eBay because of customs
  20. Okay, so I've noticed a pattern when I go without shaving for a few days while using the regimen... My skin flakes and dries a lot more! Even if I apply a ton of moisturizer and jojoba oil. My beard just irritates the crap out of me, so now I try to shave as much as possible. I want to know, does this occur with you also? Or is it just a random occurrence? Thanks!
  21. I have had red blotches on my cheeks for months. They are completely flat and on the same spot on each side of my face. They only flare up when I drink tea, shower, or look downward. When I wake up in the morning my skin is completely clear what are they and how do I get them to go away? Also I eat a very healthy vegan diet and rarely drink or wear face makeup. I use a cleanser that my dermatologist recommended but it still hasn't helped. Here's some pictures http://imgur.com/mmyqXxD http://imgur.com/YVwZ1jo Please help
  22. HI I am a 15 year old male and I have had acne for a while since 13. gradually it has gotten worse and i have used many products. I first started using Differen, then tea tree oil, tooth paste, proactiv, and other acne cleansers and toners and now im using Accutane and im on my 10th week. my Derm told me to only have 2 a week so thats what im doing. I will see him again on Friday and will ask to go to 1 a day as i am yet to see much improvemt. However thats not where my question is Since i can remember i have been a beach person surfing, swimming etc and i used to tan really well. However since about 1yr ago when i started on the acne creams my face somehow bleached and no longer tans. Infact i could go on holiday and be in the sun the whole time and come back with no tan or colour change in my skin it looks really red up close and really pasty from far away. Im no longer on these creams and i use Aloe vera gel and Cleariel at night along with my accutane. So i dont understand why im like this. I don't try and tan its just im down there all the time and i want something to show for it. I also have oily skin. I am confident that the accutane will work, However i just dont know why i simply cant get ANY colour in my face now even all this time after using these products. If anyone could offer advice i would be grateful.
  23. I have these dead skin flakes on my face, like shown in this picture, for example: What is the best way to get rid of this? I am on the acne.org regimen.
