  1. I am so excited to finally start Accutane! I'm a 36-year old mom of two, married and a business owner. Pyoderma Faciale has taken over my life since Labor Day Weekend - not that I knew what it was at that point in time. My 'new normal' includes painful cysts and stares from people. I've worn band aids to business meetings, the gym, the grocery store, the PTA and restaurants. My fabulous business partner has covered meetings for me because I didn't want to see clients or go to events. I've been
  2. Okay so, I've been scouring the internet trying to find accounts of anyone who's experienced something similar as a side effect of spironolactone and come up with zilch, so I thought where better to ask than here! I know a lot of people here take this medication so I'm really hoping one or other of you can help shed some light on the situation for me. So basically the spironolactone seems to be causing me to get hot flushing, but only on my head/face, the rest of me stays cold. This makes my s
  3. Hello all. There are an inordinate number of posters (1/4 - 1/3) in the main "Accutane Side-Effects" thread on acne.org who are suffering from mild to severe sexual symptoms, even though no sexual side-effects are listed in the drug information. This has also been discussed elsewhere on acne.org over the years: The only apparent links among people who developed erectile dysfunction or other sexual or reproductive symptoms while taking Accutane are that
  4. Someone been on Accutane and have succes with needling treatment ?? of course 6 month at least after you ended the accutane ..
  5. Hi my name is Andrew and I started accutane in October. I was given 40mg once a day prescribed by my doctor for 2 months. The first few weeks of the second month my skin completely changed and I was becoming so clear, I was very happy. I am currently on my 3rd month right now because I had some break to get my wisdom teeth out. Anyways I'm about half way through 3rd month and this time my doctor prescribed me 80mg when I was a little hesitant because I wanted to try 60mg first. He said no I thin
  6. Was just wondering what lip products everyone uses to over come the dryness? Need some good ideas Sarah
  7. Lumps won't go away. It has been 6 months since my treatment. Had 3 cortisone injections so far. Massaged area 2x a day for months as advised per dermatologist. I have 2 lumps on the left side of my face and one on my right. Juat won't go away. What else can I try? it is really sad to go through this procedure to make my face more presentable and then end up with lumps!! Anybody has advice on what else I can do? The doctor does not seem worried. But I would like these lumps gone... and soo
  8. Hello, I took Accutane for a year at the age of 17, I would be interested to know if others have the consequential damage of a soft glans penis during erection. So explained, the penis shaft is normally stiff, but the glans remains totally soft, dried and wrinkled if no more blood was flowing in it or the erectile tissue was broken. While lying on my back in bed and the penis in a vertical position, the soft glans is the worst, while I standing / horizontally a little better. A little
  9. Does Isotretinoin Help with Acne Scars?

Isotretinoin, often known by its brand name, Accutane®, is an oral drug for treating severe acne. It dramatically lowers skin oil production and can provide long-term remission of acne in about 2/3 of people.1,2 However, isotretinoin also comes with serious side effects, including the risk of birth defects, so you should perform extensive research before deciding whether to take it. You may have heard people mention that isotretinoin might reduce existing acne scars as well. However,...
  10. Hey, I have a big problem. Since taking Isotretinoin I have hyperhidrosis (extreme sweating). I took 10mg a day for over a year. The acne disappeared but the extreme sweating has not. At temperatures of 15 degrees, I'm already extremely sweaty and at forehead and back. Summer vacation is totally excluded. I was with many doctors but nobody could help me. Anti-sweating medications like Vagantin, Oxybutinin and Clonidine help me only a little and have too many side effects. I have also
  11. So I am done with the first month ! I am so happy that I am doing so great so far, my initial break outs weren't that bad it was very minor.. My black heads are almost all gone my side effects are disappearing slowly.. right now I have very minimal side effects, here's a list of what I had and how I am doing right now: Lips dryness is very minimal and controllable, ofc I have to contently apply lip balm. Almost no face dryness, my face feels very moisturized as I am applying a lot of fa
  12. Hey everyone! So I'm new here and this is my first post. I just started my accutane course yesterday, and I am taking 40mg of Claravis once a day. Last night I noticed I had some muscle pain about an hour after I took my first pill, is this normal? I looked at the list of side effects and it had muscle pain under the severe category so I'm a little worried now. If anyone with experience could give their input that would be great!
  13. HELP As the title says, I've been using differin since Wednesday (almost a week ago) and I've noticed my skin has become red, itchy and is peeling in the corner of my eyes. My doctor instructed me to not use differin in the eye area and so I followed his advice, however I've somehow managed to get the side effect of red blotches in the corners of my eyes. I tried to put a cetaphil moisturiser on them but it stings to put it on? If the moisturiser had a lot of chemicals in then I wouldn't be too
  14. Seems to work on my acne pretty well. Just wondering if there is a side effect I'm not aware of? ty
  15. Hey guys iv just taken my 7th dose of my isotretinion which is accutane as im lead to believe and ive already had some hair loss, nose bleeds, dry face, etc but on the 3rd day i got a small pain on my chest where it felt like someone had been sitting on me along with a cough, now im having constant coughing fits and it feels like theres water on my lungs. I also have a general feeling of being unwell and have for the past 4-5 days. I was wondering wether this could be due to the side effects and
  16. If You Use Retinoids, Will You Get Younger-looking Skin as You Treat Your Acne?

As far back as 3000 years ago, Egyptians used vitamin A from rat livers to treat various health problems. Scientists confirmed the necessity of vitamin A in normal skin health and appearance in the early 20th century. By 1968, scientists began developing synthetic vitamin A derivatives, called retinoids, which were safer and provided improved clinical efficacy. Dermatologists then began prescribing topical retinoids for the treatment of acne. Scientists first developed the retinoid called tretinoin. However, today...
  17. What Topical Retinoid Formulation Is Most Effective for the Treatment of Acne?

Topical retinoids are derivatives of vitamin A that treat mild-to-moderate acne. The first retinoid approved for patient use was tretinoin, which doctors began prescribing for the treatment of acne in 1971.1 Since then, scientists developed two additional retinoids in the 1990s, called adapalene and tazarotene, which are now also FDA-approved for acne treatment.2 A number of studies have been performed to examine that look at the effectiveness, side effect severity, and delivery methods of tretinoin,...
  18. So I have decided just to start my third round of accutane. I was hesitant to start it as I have been on it twice before, both times with my acne returning a couple of years later, plus I can suffer from anxiety, which may, or may not be affected by the accutane, as I remember being an anxious person before I ever took accutane however not as bad but this may just be coincidence. My derm put me on a dose of 60mg a day, however I have decided to only take 40mg a day to try and reduce the risk
  19. Hey, I've noticed that after starting accutane, my pleasure during sex has pretty much gone. Like i cant feel anything good at all. I watched a docmentary on BBC 3 the other day called "Dying for Clear Skin" and there was a guy on it who was on accutane and completely lost his ability to get erections and enjoy sex permanently. I just wanted to know if it's possible for this to happen to girls and if anyone has experienced this too? Thank you! Sarah
  20. Hi there, I have a question to throw out here for anyone taking vyvanse/adderall/amphetamines in general. First off, I am prescribed adderall and vyvanse. I only started taking them a lot in the past 8 months. In these months I noticed small bumps on my skin that turned into acne and it continued to develop all over my face. My skin became dramatically oily and my head a bit itchier. Now my skin is in the worst condition it has ever been in. I have tried everything over these 8 months. F
  21. Hi all I was prescribed epiduo (adapalene & benzoyl peroxide) on Monday 10/3/14 by my GP. Im actually a trainee doctor, and had been in clinics all week with patients who the consultant prescribed this stuff to. She recommended it to me based on the history I gave her, so I went to see my gp and asked about it (ive already had years of acne, and tried pretty much everything else bar oral retinoids) About 2 months before now I stopped my OCP and my oral tetracyclines, wasn't currently
  22. Hey everyone, This is my first time posting, usually im just a lurker, but I have an issue which I need some opinions/advice on. I started accutane 3 weeks ago, just 20mg a day, and I have started experiencing what might be a weird side effect, if not, I have no clue why its happening. Anyway, my ears have been intermittently itchy, the skin on the back of them has turned a bit rough, they go bright red and now they have started swelling?? Today I woke up with one ear bright red and swollen s
  23. I am female, 20 years old. Are side effects of Diane 35 able to be felt after taking the first pill of the first month administered? Do my side effects give evidence of anxiety or the early stages before having a heart attack? Let me know if you have had a similar experience with this prescription, please! I have currently started taking Diane 35 for approximately the third or forth time in my life for my hormonal cystic acne. I have consumed the second pill from my first pack (first month
  24. Resorcinol - Everything You Need to Know

While resorcinol is rarely found in over-the-counter (OTC) acne treatment products, it is one of five over-the-counter medications that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved for the treatment of acne. The others include benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, sulfur, and adapalene (at 0.1% strength), which are much more common than resorcinol in acne treatments. Resorcinol works by exfoliating the skin. This means that it causes dead skin cells to shed from the skin. This is...
