  1. I ad decided to take a hard look at the product I have been using after realizing that there are absolutely no labeling standards for products that call themselves NON-COMEDOGENIC. Most of the products I had been using that promised they were "demitologist tested" and "non-comedogenic" actually contained products that were very highly comedogenic, such as sodium laureth sulfates and sodium lauryl sulfates. These are highly corrosive and highly irritating cleaning agents that are in the majority
  2. Has anyone tried rubbing the cleanser in for a minute to really get it into your pores? Apparently this is bad as Dan advises against this a lot yet in the shaving videos he uses the cleanser as shaving cream which stays on his face for minutes at a time.
  3. I've been on the Regimen since Dec. 08. Has my skin cleared up between then and now? Yes and No. It's basically been a rollercoaster experience. One day my face would look like its on its way to being clear; the next day and I'll wake up with another pimple or two. Everytime I shave I pretty much get new pimples. And yes I use the Gillette Sensor razor, I used to use Gillette Good News as well. I also used to use the Cleanser as my shaving cream... and I still broke out. So I figured, why don't
  4. You know that area between your eyebrows and your side burns? Well that area got a little hairy, but not enough to be noticeable unless you staring directly at it and concentrating really hard to see the hairs. Well anyways, I was shaving, and decided to just quickly swipe that area. A couple of days later, I start seeing little bumps in that area that lead me to believe that my shaving technique and/or the hair follicles needs to be adjusted! Anyone else notice this? I was using a regular 2
  5. Hey so my acne is pretty much on and off. Ive had short periods of time when my face is completely clear, then it all it takes is one bad shave and I'm back to the usual problems with acne for a few weeks. Sometimes it compounds because I'm not able to shave when I have acne, etc. I tend to get a lot of pustules around my mouth. Does anyone have any tips on how I should shave, what kind of exfoliants I should use? It seems like no matter what I try it doesnt seem to work. Ive been on proactiv fo
  6. Heres my story with acne... ....I used to get pimples on my back, chest , fore head and it got real ugly on the cheek areas...tried everything from soaps to creams almost everything on the acne face wash shelf , gels , creams , soaps , you name it....nothing worked....well now mostly all of my acne has gone away.....here and there i get a white head on my 4 head or my chin area but nothing serious like before ! right now i can say im clear in all those areas....i guess it all went away cuss i
  7. Alright. So i dont know what has changed lately. Ive been using the same regimen since christmas. It was working great, then I ran out of the shaving cream and stopped using the good kind i liked. Got a little worse. Then i figure, hey, Walmart imitation Cetaphil is just as good.....got a little worse. Now ive come to this stage. Main Topic: Ive been getting these really shallow pimples on my chin, mostly where the crease/bending of the bottom lip would be. This has always been a tough spot of
  8. Hey, I want to know if using aloe as a shaving cream is a good idea while on the regimen.
  9. It seems when I let my facial hair grow out my acne seems to disappear. I dont have really bad acne. But the day that I shave I break out bad. I use a Gillette Fusion razor along with just basic shaving cream. I also clean my face after shaving and apply my BP. I think applying the BP after shaving is causing my face to dry and hence causing the breakouts. Anyone have any ideas on how to clean my face on the days that I shave? Or any better Razors or Shaving Cream?
  10. I wanted to take a few minutes and share the cleansing/shaving schedule and procedure that I have been using for a couple years now that has really helped improve my acne significantly. If this is able to help just one person, then I will be ecstastic. Now, of course as you all probably know, different methods work differently for everyone. Something that works great for one person could have an adverse affect on somebody else. I want to go ahead and give a background on me and my situatio
  11. Hey everyone, Please can someone suggest a shaving cream/foam/ gel which will not cause me to break out. I have been using the Nickel Shaving gel for a few months now and Im convinced that this causes me to break out, as my skin is so sensitive and the gel seems to make my acne worse, particularly around my neck and jawline. If I could use a new shaving cream/foam/ gel which does not cause me to break out this would be a huge relief, as I would not have to worry again about shaving! Thanks.
  12. Just wondering if anyone uses the DKR cleanser to shave. Somewhere on this site I read about using it in place of shaving cream. I did for the first time today and I found my new "shaving cream". Instead of working it with my hands like you do when you use it to clean your face. I just put it on and spread it around. The shaving cream I have now is horrible and I always end up cutting my self no matter how light I shave. When I used the cleanser the razor just glided across my skin and I didn't
  13. http://www.cvs.com/CVSApp/cvs/gateway/deta...nsitive+shaving that contains mineral oil and another oil , my nivea after shave balm contains oil's to should i be worried?? or buy a oil free shagving cream fi they have 1.
  14. Just wondering if anyone has tried Nivea For Men Oil Control Shaving Gel. It has Marine plant extracts & vitamin F. It doesn't say anything about being non-comodogenic but from my experience, no shaving creams do. I would rather not shave with the lather of my bar because, well, it's just not as comfortable as shaving cream. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  16. Sorry I've been searching but I can't find a good answer about shaving creams? Which kind should I use? I found this link on here http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6886845/#storyContinued I plan on "wet shaving" but I need a good cream or gel or w/e.
  17. I didn't know where to put this so it ended up here... anyway sometimes when I shave I really irritate alot of the areas below my jawline.. My razor/shaving cream are fine as it only happens at or below my jawline, I don't break out because of it but the areas will often get red or look a little irritated as if its been itching or something.. Anyone have a problem with this too, any tips? BTW I'm shaving from top to bottom if it matters
  18. I'm just wondering what some good sunscreen is to use while on accutane, im almost in month 3 and i've never really wore it. im always inside and i dont think i need it. but i would like some stuff that is non-oily and of course oil-free/noncomodegenic. also, what is a shaving cream i should be using? p.s should i put on some old topicals at night or is it not good to use topicals while on accutane.
  19. I've come to the conclusion that a lot of my "acne" is actually ingrown hairs (I am 1/2 black and, as I understand it, this is much more common in black men with curly hair). I've tried tons of different shaving creams, electric razors, single blade razors, etc... Still get bumps. I tested over a vacation from school by shaving one sideburn and not the other. The shaved side developed several "pimples" within a couple of days. The other side did not. I've also done mini tests like this with m
  20. Greetings all! I assume this is the best place to post my trials and tribulations regarding this over-the-counter BP cream (see or the product homepage for more information...) I've been following the thread on this board for a few months and haven't found a comprehensive review, but the product looked promising so I thought I'd provide such an overview. Background: I am a 17-year old male with slight to moderate acne on my face (forehead, mouth), neck, and upper back. I have dealt with it
  21. I just ran out and now I need something...I was using the Edge Advanced Shaving Gel, Sensitive Skin with Aloe and that worked fine. But is there anything better? What about that Gillette FusionHydraGel, Ultra Sensitive stuff? any of that good?
  22. I've seen a lot of posts in this forum about frustrated regimen users who are not experiencing the results that they had expected. Hang in there! I've been on the regimen since May 2005, and the regimen has been vastly more effective than all the medications my dermatologist gave me before I stumbled across Acne.org. Along the way, I observed many patterns of breakouts while on the regimen, which led me to make various tiny changes in my daily life. For me, I attribute much of the success of th
