  1. Hi all i haven't ever really used any products on my skin other than just water and shaving cream but im now almost 27YO and have just about clear skin. I have had mostly just red marks for the last 2 years which are now totally gone but the main thing is my skin seems to have a different "texture" now. is this just the normal cycle? is it possible i have just outgrown my skin problems? anyway gl to all of you suffering with acne it has changed my life forever and i still think people who hav
  2. A man’s skin is actually different than a woman’s skin. The layers of skin are thicker, pores are larger and there are more oil glands producing more lubrication for a longer period of time. Even though men have this extra, anti aging defense in their favor, it is no reason to be disregard proper care of your skin. Daily shaving does not have to accompanied by uncomfortable side effects. Grabbing a can of shaving cream and a disposable razor may work short term but for the healthiest skin ov
  3. I'm currently using a DE safety razor (Merkur razor with Derby blades) and just wet shaving in the shower with Dr. Bronner's tea tree soap (for a long time I used Cetaphil antibacterial bar). My skin is so fussy about products that I find this easier than using a separate shaving cream, after shave, etc. I prefer the safety razor to modern razors, which only seem to irritate me even more. I've been noticing about 90% of my acne is on an area in which hair grows, so I've never thought about t
  4. Hello everyone, I've been a user of Dan's regimen products for a while now but never visit the board much or anything of that nature. While Dan's prodcuts did help me get clear most of the way, I still have trouble spots around my mouth and my T-zone. I stumbled upon a product (EMC2) and read up on it and thought I'd give it a try. I got a free container of it, so why not. Since the challenge from the EMC2 website is to submit photo/videos for free sample, I struck a deal to send in picture u
  5. Hello guys and gals!! I thought I would make a REALLY short story on how my problems with acne has been, and how I have got writ of. I myself hate to read long stories, and always skip them; so therefore I have made a very short version for you. This will probably be my last post here, as I have so much other stuff to attend to. Male, now 20 years old, started getting acne 4 years ago Hated my acne, became insecure; thought about my acne all the time, and every time someone looked at me Join
  6. Here is my story. My name is Chris. I'm 25 years old and have suffered from acne for roughly the past 10 years. When I was a teenager, I had acne on my cheeks which eventually cleared up with the use of Accutane. It's a potent drug which I refuse to ever go back on given all of its effects. I go through multiple periods of time where my face is completely clear and then suddenly breaks out. I attribute this to facial hair. I ONLY get zits within my beard line and typically on my cheeks. My f
  7. I'm sure you have all seen/heard of OXY products for acne skin. But more recently, I found out they have shaving products. Weird. Anyway, they have shaving cream and post-shave lotion. I imagine they will work fine for shaving. BUT, they are apparently supposed to help with acne. I think it 0.5% Salicylic Acid in them. Anyone try them? Because the amount of SA is so small, is it even worth the money, or should I just keep using my regular shaving products? I figure atleast these ones are made sp
  8. Hey guys, First post on here, just signed up although I've just passed my one year mark on the Regimen (Started with Neutrogena On-The-Spot 12/14/09, switched to all DK products last January). I was actually planning on making an account on here to write a long "thank you" type post to Dan, who has entirely eliminated my generally mild, but occasionally pretty heavy acne, and given me the kind of skin I spent much of 2009 longing for. So I'm 16 years old, got mild acne when I hit puberty, spot
  9. Hello Acne.org community! Once i was an avid user of this website, going from regimen to regimen trying to find a cure for my acne. I tried everything from accutane to ACV even to the water only regimen, but here is what cured me mentally and physically. I remember a while ago there was a thread called the "Caveman Regimen" the OP described how he just dropped everything. No water, no topical creams, just plain old nothing. At first i thought, nonsense! How could something so easy be the cure
  10. Hey, I was wondering if anyone knew of a good shaving cream that doesn't cause acne (non-comedogenic). I use aveeno shaving gel now, but I think they stopped making...so I'm looking for a new one.
  11. http://www.amazon.com/Gillette-Fusion-Hydr...e/dp/B001ED5JTO thats my shaving cream...but is it good...and should i shave before or after a shower? and i use my cleanser in the shower so what should i do??
  12. Hi dudes, I've been on 40mg of Accutane for 10 days now... and I just shaved for the first time. It really burned, at least after a few minutes of having shaving cream on my face. Is this normal? The burning was above my lip, right under my nose. I'm using Art of Shaving Unscented for Sensitive Skin I realize I've only been on the drug for a few days, but if this is how it's going to be for the next 5 months; I'll probably have to bring this to my dermatologist. I've also noticed sort of a d
  13. It seems Salicylic Acid is in everything, cleansers, lotions, etc. but why not a shaving cream? I realize that it wouldn't be on the skin that long, so perhaps not super effective, but it couldn't hurt right?
  14. Wait until halfway through your bath or shower to apply the shaving cream. Allow it to sit on your skin for at least 3 minutes to soften the hairs. The aloe and other ingredients in the shaving cream create a surface that yields a smoother shave with less irritation.

    Flaky/dry/oily Skin? Try This

Hello, I have been experimenting with Apple Cider Vinegar for the past 6 weeks and it has significantly helped my oily skin look better. I figured I'd put it up here and maybe others will have the same success that I did. Remember that everyone's skin is different, and what worked for me will not work for everyone. That being said, I believe that this is one of the safer skincare routines available. Always use common sense whenever trying something new, and when in doubt discontinue use. A lit
  16. Anyone have any product suggestions for accutane that they could not do/have done without? Moisturizers? Lip balm? Body lotions? Face wash? Body wash? Shaving creams (for women)? Shampoo/conditioner? And for the ladies...MAKEUP! (to cover up all those pesky acne marks and red spots left behind...) Thanks for any and all suggestions and recommendations! Feel free to comment on anything you didn't like or that caused breakouts, as well!
  17. Been on the Regimen for like 4-5 years now, and while I get the occasional pimple here and there I've been about 99% clear for the most part. Fast forward to June of this year. I went to Vegas with a couple of my buddies, and upon returning I started to get pimples here and there. I thought it was because I switched my shaving cream (turned out to not be the case), then I thought it was a preworkout supplement I was taking (again, not the case). The funny thing is that I'm not getting pim
  18. I will try to make it more organized, but I like it how it is. There are a lot of commonalities, drinking a lot of water, exercising, healthy diet (duh?), proper sleep... A lot of people mentioned liver cleansing and bowel... Emotions and meditation have been mentioned quite a few times. /notice the Hug Mom!/ Well, that's it... - Gluten free diet - Iodine - Proper cleansing - Proper Emotional Issues No Diary - rice milk instead Cut down on gluten and wheat - gluten and wheat free
  19. I have been using tons of different products and regimens for my acne and none work at all. After some research, I found out that the way I shave is probably the cause of my acne. Here is what I do in the shower in the morning. I wash my face and stuff THEN shave. I use a five-bladed Gillette Fusion razor with Gillette Fusion shaving gel. I have always shaved against the grain because of the closeness of a shave it gave me. Am I doing this right or no? I have heard that shaving against the grain
  20. Brief History. Had mild acne when I entered high school. Cystic probably 1 at a time, most likely due to raging hormones. I use every OTC product, and all prescription products you can think of to try to get rid of my acne (excluding accutane) and it gets increasingly worse. At my low point I had moderate/severe, and at my best moderate/mild. A lot less cystic now, more pustules and papules. Other skin conditions I've had include shingles, and eczema (which I developed around the same time
  21. I'm new here, I'm 20 and getting close to turning 21 and my acne is just as bad as ever. This passed summer I also started suffering from eczema mostly on my chest/sides of my body and back. I had extremely mild acne when I was in highschool, mostly I think was caused by me picking at my skin. I then decided to use ProActiv, any acne I had was more or less gone. But at the advice of my mom, I stopped using it because she said my face look irritated and red. Soon after I stopped using it, my
  22. Hi, I know that if you use the acne.org cleanser for shaving, you cleanse the area of your face your shaving. So I was wondering, If you use a shaving cream, like say, Aveeno, do I need to use the cleanser on the part I shaved after I'm done or does the Aveeno gel work as a cleanser as well? I just don't want to use the shaving gel, then the cleanser, if I don't have to. Especially if it's going to really dry out my skin.
  23. For guys, can skincare be as simple as cleansing 1x daily? Let's forget about acne treatment and assume you have decent skin. I think most of my guy friends don't moisturizer, they just own body wash, shaving cream, Clearisil, and shampoo. Is that accurate - can many guys get away with not moisturizing? Although my skin is in bad shape, it's really sensitive and it does best when I leave it alone as much as possible... mosturizer, even non-pore-clogging (non-comodenic, sp?), always seems to
  24. I've had moderate acne since 7th grade and I'm about to complete my freshman year of college. I started doing these things 8 months ago. The progressive has been slow with many ups and downs. I finally feel like I've got somewhat of a hold on my acne. My face is still reddish from scars or whatever but I haven't had a breakout it about a month and get only some small pimples here and there. I feel like I owe it to people to post this since I got a lot of helpful information in posts like this.
