  1. I started developing severe cystic acne when I was 20. They were huge red cysts with three heads each that would grow on both cheeks (almost symmetrically), and wouldn't stop being inflamed for two weeks at a time. It was ugly and really painful, and they left marks that would not go away for atleast three months and scars that are still on my cheeks. As I went from acne-free to covered in horrible red acne and scars on my face I became depressed and lost five kgs. I also started to *lose m
  2. / Hey people...The other day I just so happened to walk into a gas station and buy a bottle of Fuze Vitaboost. I looked on the back with all the vitamin info and it contained lots of vitamin A, C, and E...plus Selenium. The description with it was something like "Works with vitamin E to become a powerful antioxidant and reduces scarring." so im like hey and buy a couple bottles. I then start to notice my scars fading, only after drinking like 5 bottles of this stuff! Which brings me to my curr
  3. Hey guys....this is the first time I've posted here but i'm just so happy with the success of my Acne Cure Plan that i just HAD to share it with other people... Firstly, my name's Vanessa, I'm 18 and i live in Australia. My acne started in year 9 and continued until the end of year 12 until i went on this amazing plan and got rid of it for good I know that some of you have heard of Dr Dubrow and his book, "The Acne Cure". I was heaps skeptical when i first read it but i was desperate and so
  4. Proponents of vitamins can sometimes be a little overzealous with their claims. At my old job, I used to hear things like, "this will prevent male baldness," or "this will increase fat burn," or even "this will cure your acne!" If I were to believe every anecdote concerning vitamin successes, I would be popping a pill from every bottle in the vitamin aisle. So I'm trying to identify the vitamins and supplements that have been documented for their effect on acne. I am hoping some of you may a
  5. Ok so about a week ago I finally made my way over to a certified raw organic dairy farm near me. Yeah I know I'm lucky to have one near me, these places are hard to find. Picked me up a gallon of goat milk to experiment, and some fudge for my mom because she's a die hard fudge fan lol. Had my kefir grains that I ordered off Amazon. Did a thorough cleaning of all my supplies, gallon glass milk jug, wooden spoon, cheese cloth. Poured the milk into the jug, added the grains, stirred, and then
  6. I've got a problem. My T-zone is always oily. It doesn't break out with acne at all and It doesn't look like I'll be getting acne anytime soon unless I overuse retin A. Now, I keep getting my pores clogged somehow - on my forehead (centre only)/nose (centre only) and they don't go away unless I extract their contents which results in damage to my skin, and more hyperpigmentation. The rest of my face is very smooth. I reckon it's because I use hydroquinone and oil based moisturisers on those a
  7. so i have this bottle of pills not even meant for acne but its like vitamin pills and i was wondering if the ingredients in it would be good for acne. i was going to get acnepril but heard some bad stuff about it so i plan on returning it or canceling my order but not if these pills are bad too. so here are the ingredients, just tell me if you think they sound good. thank you. Serving Size is 1 pill. i plan on taking 2 a day. morning and night. Vitamin A: 2500 IU (50% daily val.) 20% as be

So here's what I'm taking now: -Women's One Multivitamin by Rainbowlight (once a day) -Jarrow Formulas, Liver PF Liver Protection Factors (3 times a day) <---moonbase recommended this one -Spectrum Fish Oil 1000 mg Softgels (2 a day) -Jarrow's Evening Primrose Oil 1300 mg (once a day) -Natrols PMS Contr
  10. I'm a 35-year-old woman, new here, but definitely not new to acne. I've suffered since I was 12. In the last three months--since being diagnosed with Hashimoto's Disease--my acne has gone beserk. It's the worst it's been since I was 22, and came off the pill. I switched from Synthroid to Armour thyroid a few weeks ago, which I thought would improve matters, but that has not been the case. I'm dealing with a lot of factors. 1. I have a one-year-old son, I'm a SAHM, and I'm exhausted and

  12. Hi all, i'm a newbie here .. I've been on accutane like about 10-11 weeks now, Kind of wondering, can i take my accutane with selenium, or zinc, and or glutathione? Coz i acctually have a weak immunity, and taking the accutane seems to weaken my body. Thanks
  13. Hello, haven't been on in awhile, wanted to let everybody out there know that I have drastically reduced my acne (better than antibiotics even) through a combination of the chemical selenium sulfide (the active ingredient in selsun blue,) and lots of water. I started the selsun blue method maybe 8 months ago, and it worked really well, not perfect, but better than any other method I've tried. The new addition of water to aid in the treatment was noticed after I had a kidney stone recently, t
  14. my skin is dry and not oily but I have consistent acne usually 1 cyst through out the month at some point and various other little blemishes. I've had acne since I was 14 and I am now 21 while it is mild... it is still consistent so here's my regime -no dairy ( I cheat and get a little pimple around my mouth or sometimes cyst on my cheek) -I use SLS free vegan vegetable based cleansers for all my hair, skin ect, -I wash my face only at night and sometimes I only use water -Aloe Vera and T
  15. It is called Multi+ Daily Trim from Genuine Health. I have heard about people using the Multi+ Daily Glow (also by Genuine Health) which helped their acne, but this was on sale at the time. Besides, I compared the too, and they are basically the same. This seems to be a great multi-vitamin! And I think I may like it better as it has green tea extract in it - and green tea is known to help detox! ...So I figured it was a win-win, right? Anyway, I'm just wondering if this is a good enough multi-v
  16. Hi readers, I'll try to keep this as brief as possible. I've had a major breakthrough over the last couple of months which I've been searching for for ages. Here is my story: Reading databased's interesting posts on Zinc, I had to give it a try and found that high levels of zinc picolinate had a pronounced positive effect on my acne but it wasn't the cure. I would still get 'new stuff' coming through. I took a lot of supplements back then try to 'cover all bases' but didn't find anything
  17. Hey there guys! I've been on minocyclin for the last 6 months or so and want to quit it. I had pretty severe scalp acne/folliculitis on the back of my head and minoc helped a lot (I also used a selenium sulfide shampoo with tea tree oil added), however did not completely cure it. But I heard that you shouldn't take antibiotics until they don't work anymore, is that true? If yes, what's the best way of quitting it? Cold turkey? "Weaning" it off? I hope someone can help me out
  18. I have been struggling with adult acne for the last 10 years. It has been moderate to severe including whiteheads, blackheads, and cystic acne. I have tried ProActive, ZenMed, Retin-A, Microderm Abrasion, Tetracycline, MyChelle, Neutrogena Acne Treatments, etc. I have also tried different vitamins, herbal supplements, etc. I found that being on a general Multi-Vitamin was helpful and of course the Tetracycline worked great for 2 years and then I became immune to it and the acne returned. I
  19. Hi all, Long time acne sufferer here (and loving the acne.org regimen), and I've also had dandruff (which has probably been SD) in my scalp since my teens (I'm 28 now). Two years ago the SD popped up as a tiny red spot near the nose, then expanded around the nose (butterfly pattern), then down near the mouth, and also began around the eyebrows. Two months ago it spread to just below my hairline in two huge spots (3x1 inches in size), which didn't look good at all. The skin was red and shed white
  20. What up kids. So I'm really thinking about going on a second round of Accutane. I took my first round from late September to late January (4 months) for moderate to severe cystic acne. Gross. I forgot what the dosage was. I just know I was taking two pills a day. So it was at least 40 mg, but probably more. It may have been 60 mg a day? Anyways, it worked wonders and my face stayed clear from late January up until August. Right before I left for college. Then it started to slowly creep back. I

  23. For the most part thanks to my regime, my skin is generally clear, though oily- my problem is that I tend to break out in a large cyst (sometimes as big as a dime or nickel) on my chin area every 2 weeks or so. Then I will be completely clear for another two weeks then one or two at most will appear again. The longest I've been without a chin breakout has been 1 month. I've also cut out dairy (over 6 months), but it doesn't seem that affective. Why am I breaking out like this? I am a male btw a
  24. This is a regimen I followed in 2009. I meant to join the forums & post at the time but didn't get around to it. My nephew was getting married in August 2009, so I was desperate to get rid of my spots before the wedding. After decades of having bad skin, I thought I would attack the problem from all angles. 1) I used Dan's cleanser, BP & moisteriser. 2) I used a blue/red light Beauty skin unit daily for 15 minutes on one side of my face & 15 minutes on the other. 3) I cut o
