    Scared...

Ok, well you probably know why I'm here, I have acne. Terrible acne. And being a nearly 16 year old girl, I have enough to be dealing with without worrying about people judging me because of my skin...I have horrible red cysts literally covering my cheeks and chin, and all along the sides of my face ,and the marks from them don't go away... so I thought I'd make a blog here so people who are going through the same thing can read it, as none of my friends have acne to my extent, and I feel so alo
  2. Short acne story: I started getting it at 9, obviously very early, and it was what would be for a teenager moderate acne, gradually getting worse until about age 12. It was so bad they started me on accutane, despite me not having cystic acne it was bad enough to make the cut. It worked wonders for me, and I went off it two or so months ago. Recently, I've been slowly getting acne back, much like it began, and it's got me terrified. Now I'm in high school and now it truly bothers me, and th

    Scared As Hell

Hey there guys I am a 15 year old boy, been fighting with acne since 13, but just at no avail. I've gone through most(probably all) prescription drugs and procedures out there so my current dermatologist told me it's time for isotretinoin. She told me to go get the blood tests done tomorrow and if all is good, I'm starting accutane. On the first moment I heard that word spewed out of her mouth, my heart pounced because I had researched accutane on the internet before and the side effects look j
  4. Hello everyone! Recently I got in a relationship with a wonderful girl I met online. We have dated for a month and since everything was going so well we decided to get together. The problem is that we have only seen eachother at night, and she's never seen my acne, but mostly acne scars/hyperpigmentation, in daylight. You guys must know that scars show a lot less in a house with warm lighting than outside in the middle of the day. I have also been putting foundation only on the scars to reduce t

    Accutane

hey everyone, this is my first post. I started accutane about 16 days ago when my dermatologist prescribed it to me. I have had acne since I was in the 4th grade and now I'm in my senior year of high school and it's out of control. I'm on 40mg once per day and I'm getting horrible side effects from the drug and I wanna know if it's normal. If I don't drink enough water during the day I get the worlds worst migraine, like so bad it hurts to think. Also the insides of my nose are painfully dry, I'
  6. I've been on the regimen for 1.5 months now, using the acne.org products (cleanser, bp and moisturizer). In the first month my acne cleared up quickly and everything seemed to be going great. I think I used too much BP 2weeks ago and it burned my skin badly. My skin was super dry and hard and flaky. The redness was unbelievable, looked like I was in a mask... I went off the bp completely for 4 days and my skin seemed to return to normal... I used a very small amount of BP last night and this
  7. So as y’all are very aware I have acne scars from my acne that’s just about gone a month ago. I wanted to ask people if I should leave it to heal on it’s own or if I should use this roactuane gel as prescribed by my doctor just I don’t want another flare up before school so idk. Should I just leave it? I’ll post some photos of my face down below so you can see what it looks like.
  8. Hey everyone! So I've been on my second round of Accutane (40mg/day +Vitimin E/BC) for one month now. I am seeing pretty nice improvement, which is unfortunately accompanied by severe lower back pain, extremely dry skin, and irritability. However, my dermatologist is taking a vacation and I won't be able to get my second month worth of pills util then. I run out in four days. I'm so so so sooo scared that my skin will relapse, since I have been on it for merely a month. After all the emoti
  9. I just took my very first pill of Accutane. I have the generic brand called Amnesteem and I'm on 40MG. I am SUPER terrified that I am going to have a major allergic reaction to this medicine and that I'm going to break out in blisters or something. Or that I am going to experience some hardcore side effects that I may not be able to handle. I'm freaking out right now lol. Ughhhhhh! What were your guy's side effects?
  10. My whole face and only my face is ether really red or pink I'm really scared about it and I'm self conscious about it I need answers! Real answers! I've been on accutane for about a month and week so far and I had this pink/ red face like 3 months before accutane it's sucks! But it's got a little worse since I've been on tane! I only wash my face at night with cetaphil daily facial wash and I moisterize with cetaphil daily facial moisturizer SPF 15 I wash my face and take cold/kinda warm showers
  11. (Beware for the dreaded long long long post! I hope some of you have the patience to read and help! ) Hey guys, so in just over a week I will be starting Accutane. I'm, understandable, terrified and could really do with some advice, suggestions and, overall, positivity. Some basic info; I'm a 23 year old guy from England. I've always suffered with mild acne (as in, I'd always have one or two spots somewhere on my body) and dryness/redness around my nose and the surrounding area (looked
  12. My doctor put me on birth control (ortho-tricyclen) after my first period in middle school. Fast forward - clear skin for almost my entire life until I turn 19 and decide I don't need to be on synthetic hormones. Three months later, cystic acne all over my cheeks, jawline, and neck. Sound familiar? Straight away I go to the derm. Get put back on ortho-tri. I stayed on the ortho tri only to experience mediocre results, then moved onto yaz for three months which caused a literal facial explosion
  13. How common is Hair loss on low dose accutane? I was on 20 mg daily for 21 days and it felt like my hair was already falling out, so I stopped cold feey,I’m afraid my acne will come back since I don’t know if I can use topicals ob my face again. I don’t want tl lose my hair. Accutane takes a toll at my mental wise, but acne does too. When can I use topicame again? Should I keep going on accutane? Idk what to do and my derm refuses to see me
  14. I know this has probably been talked about many times, but I just wanted to get this off my mind and onto a post so then I can see others who can relate in some way. For the last couple of months, I have been hiding away from people or any source of light whenever I can. I am always afraid of people seeing the bumps on my face and them judging me. I have always been a shy person, but ever since I produced this severity of acne, it hasn't helped. Sure, it makes me try to be less shy s
  15. Hi everyone so I was in Lush today and decided to buy some new skin care products and change my skin care routine, The items which I bought are listed below: https://www.lush.co.uk/products/cleansers/fresh-farmacy https://www.lush.co.uk/products/grease-lightning https://www.lush.co.uk/products/tea-tree-water Tonight I have used all 3 of these, at first they made my skin feel rather dry so I decided to moisturise my face with some e45 lotion. All is good at the moment but I think do
  16. Hello, I'm new here. So today, my dermatologist offered me Accutane (of course one of the generic brands). He started me on a low dose (30mg), once daily since he said I'm really not that "bad". It's been almost 10 years and three different dermatologists later, these prescription acne lotions and creams cocktail and even antibiotics---I still get painful deep acne cysts in my jawline and chin areas. My cheeks and forehead are clear though so no problem. Plus, I get cortisone shots every tim
  17. Day 0 Alright, so, after using Tazorac for 7 weeks I have seen some results (at least I think I do) and other people do too, but not my dermatologist, so two days ago, I signed the iPledge booklet all over, and my mom bought me my first box of Claravis today. I am starting on 40mg a day. I am pretty nervous about this... I know what to expect, and I just read the whole Medical Information packet that came in the box, I hope I do not die or have seizures... I am a cheerleader too, so I am n
  18. Hi everyone, I am just about to finish my first month of accutane, and I've been taking 30mg per day. I have had several side effects such as achy joints and muscles (neck pain, back pain, ribs are sore), dry eyes, mild/moderate upper abdominal pain and a little headache now and then. But all of these things are perfectly tolerable...... except for the fatigue. About an hour after I take my dose (around 5pm) I start to get tired and can't maintain concentration on anything! It is so unbelievabl
  19. Okay. So, I have had bad acne from when I was 13 to now when I'm 18. I thought to myself (like probably many during the summer), that I will get rid of my acne before college. See, I have/had a problem with wearing makeup CONSTANTLY and mean ALL. THE. TIME. I wore it around my parents, my friends, and even battled not allowing anyone to see my face without it during a 2 week trip abroad my senior year. It was stressful, but I managed to have fun despite these insecurities. However, I've
  20. Hello and Happy Halloween! Ever since middle school, I have suffered from pretty severe cystic acne. My mood is largely based on how bad the cysts on my face are. When I get cystic acne, I get it bad. Recently I was suffering from a cyst on my forehead the size of a golf ball! These have cysts have made me suicidal in the past, and usually throw me in an extreme depression. So that's my acne situation, and I was prescribed accutane and can pick it up tomorrow. I am having second thoughts

    Going To China

I've seen several friends go visit China, and come back with 2x worse acne. One guy actually didn't have acne, and he came back with face full of it. I guess the main reason is the poor air quality there. I'm 18, and don't really get breakouts anymore after I started working out and drinking lots of green tea. But I'm afraid the trip is going to agrevate my acne problem. What can I do to prepare for the potential onslaught?
  22. So I'm currently on month 2 and started getting constipated. Why exactly I don't know but its certainly the drug. I'm on 40 mg daily. Is constipation a serious side effect? My poop used to come out easily and was healthy looking (gross I know, sorry). But now, it takes me forever and when it comes out its just a bit and has a very loose consistency. Nothing is coming out as of lately. Do I have to stop the medication? Is it a bad sign? So far I had basically 0 side effects except dry lips

    Accutane long

Hello everyone! My name is adrianna and ive been suffering from acne since i was 14 it was mild but ever since last year my skin went on a down spiral and has worked its way to moderate but persistant. Every single pore is clogged, pimples take forever to heal and so does red marks And im developing a weird clogged pores/ bumpy kind of acne ive never had before Im so depresses where i dont look in mirrors, and dont want to live anymore, i start accutane in a few weeks and im hoping for the bes
  24. Ive been on Oratane (Australian Accutane) for nearly 21 weeks now and have seem a massive improvements with minor side effects. Have been on 20mg every day, 40mg mon, wed, fri. My skin is brand new and im so happy with it. My derm said that my next visit may be my last one, although i still have some teeny tiny little bumps on my cheeks. Is accutane supposed to clear everything? Or does it just clear up the big massive ones? And im scared to go off it incase the acne comes back.
