  1. 4 Basic causes of Acne (and some types of Rosacea) - make sure your dermatologist tests you to verify which type you have. The treatment for each type is completely different. Correct diagnosis of the cause is important to clear the skin condition. Demodex skin mites are the most under-diagnosed cause of acne and some types of rosacea for people of all ages. Some more enlightened dermatologists will test for the mites. Many old school dermatologists were taught in school, that the mites
  2. Yesterday i noticed some horrific large spots in my scalp - almost cyst size - 3/4 large, inflamed, inflamed, painful to touch spots. Today they are significantly reduced and on way to fading but i did sleep a good 9 hours for the first time in ages last night. Things to note: Last 2 nights i have used a shampoo i don't usually use, normally i would use somekind of dandruff type one but i was somewhere else so had no choice - one i used: Dove Hair Therapy Intensive Repair Shampoo
  3. I used this initially for my heart (it helps with palpitations etc) and noticed how much dryer my face became. It was so dry i could actually moisturize with emu oil which i did not mind at all. It took 1-2 weeks to kick in, taking 1 gram in 600ml of water every morning, from a bpa free cup. I did not change my diet, but i did also drink more water (because i was drinking this in the first hour of being awake) I stopped taking Alcar recently due to bad time management and have noticed how oily m
  4. Hi, I am noticing since yesterday that though I have not had a major breakout after last weekend on my face I have 4-5 big bumps in my scalp close to my forehead but not seen when hair is tied back. They are a little further away. I can just feel them. The 2 other big pimples I mentioned in my previous post are near my hairline. These are big ones. Any suggestions as to why these may have suddenly come up. Last 1 month I had no acne in the hair or around my hairline. Thanks
  5. So heres the story, Im now 23, skinny, white male. Ive had acne since a teen and went on docycycline for about a year which barely worked after a month and when I stopped using it my back got really bad. So I went on accutane which was great and cured all my acne, however a few months after I started to get a few small pimples on my scalp which I never used to get and now its worse and gets really itchy. So anyway, I started using T/Gel for my scalp which kind of worked but pretty sure the coal
  6. Hey I'm new here so I thought I'd try my luck and see if anyone has ever heard of anything like this before... I am a 26 yr old male that has always had clean skin but I have been dealing with a recurring skin sore infection for about 5 years now. It all started when I was prescribed Prednisone for a bronchial infection. After the course of Prednisone, I noticed two itchy bumps on my scalp and developed acne all along my beard area. Every day I would wake up with about 10-20 whiteheads t
  7. Hello guys, I took accutane 40mg/day, for 7 months. I have been off it for a bout 2 and a half months, while my face remains clear, I recently started getting pimples in my scalp that hurt alot. Something similar happened the first time i was on doxycicline for 5 months right after stopping that within 2 weeks i got my scalp and face full of pimples, This is similar but to a lesser degree and its not on my face for now... Has anyone experienced this before? Does it go away? Thank yo
  8. I´m 32 yo, I had cystic acne as a teenager.. required two cycles of Accutane at ages 21 and 23. After that I has had problems in my scalp and also face. I think that I have a mild-severe acne in beard area persistent papules occasionaly pustules, not a real problem. The real problem is in my scalp, in the posterior part of my neck always have almost a dozen of lesiones, papules, pustules, they itch a lot, sometimes are painful. I have tried almost everything: 1. Topical antibiotics: Clindamyci
  9. Hello! So i have those persistent pimples, mostly located around the front hair line -clusters-, but also kind of everywhere. They just dont go away. - i keep my hair shaved. 10. Hi Everyone! I have been dealing with an oily scalp for as long as I can remember, having to wash my hair every day. I find it very annoying and time consuming. My skin is also oily. I have been taking spironolactone for my acne and was hoping that it might help with my oily scalp too but not noticing any difference yet. I am taking 50mg a day. Has anyone got any experience with this?? Thank you!!!
  11. 1st month: 60mg/day My skin has become noticeably dry but not sufficient. I get acne here and there but it goes away. My scars and blemishes have become very noticeable for some reason. My scalp itches and i have developed head pimples. It's also getting dry so it'll probably thin like last time, but hopefully goes away. I'm taking accutane with food this time. First time, i just took it however, even with plain water. Maybe that's why acne returned after like just 6 months. My lips
  12. 1st month: 60mg/day Initial breakouts? since last post, 3 days ago, i developd 5 extra pimples and the scars and blemishes look more promiment. My lips are dry and my scalp itches. I may have a date or something this weekend, i don't feel like developing anything with anyone for the most important reason that i don't want to kiss with dry lips and end up getting an infection due to its sensitivity. No i don't have or ever developed herpes, thankfully. I just don't want to risk anything w
  13. Hi all, I wanted to share the solution that finally worked for me. I've been plagued by acne on my head and neck for the past year, it started for no apparent reason that I could see. I tried anti dandruff shampoo, showering twice a day, changing my diet, etc. and no dice. Everything I read said the problem could be fungal, bacterial or other so I decided to just try a shampoo that was both antibacterial and antifungal, within a week the spots and lumps on my head cleared up - I'm well pl
  14. I have read A lot of Topics on here related to scalp acne on here and I plan on picking up a few things then i started to look at the dates on these posts and began to wonder if there is anything better now. I have a few things that i worry about and am going to add here. (it may not matter I'm not sure just thought it would be cool to ask) 1. I believe this contributes hugely to my scalp acne problem I am a mixed girl (black/white) i have very thick curly hair it gets very dry. and the things
  15. Hey,I'm new here so if this in the wrong place or I'm doing something wrong let me know. Ive suffered from acne in and around my scalp area,as well as on my face and back since i was 13 i am now 21,my face and back have cleared up well in the last few years, but the scalp issue will not leave me. I have been on a number of medications since this start including, erythromycin, isoterin, doxycyline for a number of rounds (i may be forgetting some others )as well as accutane (I feel this is wha
  16. Just 2 weeks ago, i got this cyst on my scalp, i though that its just a normal cyst that has grown on the scalp, it gave me headache (non-stop..lol) and it was big.. so i used Benzoyl Peroxide on it and after 3 days of using it, i drained the cyst of the pus and everything was good for the few days after that, until just yesterday i noticed that the area of the cyst is now bald, no hair at all .. so i shaved my whole hair and washed it, its seriously noticeable, even at long ranges not that i ca
  17. Hi I would like to start off by saying that I think I am losing all of my hair by the regimen. I know that is not one of the main side effects but I'm pretty sure it is because of it and I'll tell you why. I'm pretty sure because I stopped using the benzoyl peroxide for like 3 weeks and my hair began too grow but also my acne. I started the regimen again and again my hair began too fall. I don't know what to do I'm only 18 and don't want acne or hair loss ps. Sorry for any grammar o
  18. Scalp Acne

Acne can occur on the scalp much like it can on the face and on the rest of the body. However, the scalp can be harder to treat because the hair gets in the way. The good news is that scalp acne is often much less noticeable because hair covers it up. Many people get occasional pimples on the scalp and simply let them be. While acne lesions on the scalp can tend to be tender...
  19. So this is my 2nd week ( a little more actually), even though the side effects are kicking in I am still very excited! I got 3 new pimples yesterday even though things were getting so much better the week before, no white heads just (kind of) small red bumps. It seems like no matter how much I moisturize (i literally moisturize at least 5 times a day) my skin is still dry, yet its bearably dry and thankfully its not pealing or anything. I am currently using 2 creams, mainly I am using the c
  20. Hello there, I´ve been suffering for scalp pimples since I washed my hair with one shampoo of Syoss´s brand. I immediately got massive breakout on my scalp - one very painful cyst and a few little bumps. I used one alcohol toner on it, it disappeared after a few days. But one month later, I got next breakout. I visited my dermatologist and she predescribed me Dalacin T lotion - clindamycine(anitbiotic). It completely disappeared, I started using shampoo with ichtammol to prevent new breakouts
  21. Hello guys! So long story short, i had mild to moderate cystic acne on my face, so they placed me on accutane 40mg/day for 7 months. (I had previously been on doxycycline to no avail). So come January 7 of 2014, i take my last pill. Its been about 5 and half months since i stopped taking accutane. And my face is clear of acne, but after about the 2 month after i stopped the treatment, i started to get gradually more and more painful pimples on my scalp. At first i didn't pay much attention t
  22. I never thought I would ever post about my skin problems online, but I am sick and tired of my whitehead/acne problem and don’t know what else to do. Throughout high school, I don't remember stressing over acne because I didn't have a lot of it. After graduating, I started to get these whiteheads, mainly under my nose. I didn’t worry about them because they were minor and people told me that they go away with time. After about a year, it started to get really bad and I ALWAYS got the whiteh
  23. So I have always had a somewhat dry scalp, but it seems to be worse due to being on accutane, even for only a week. What are some good moisturizing conditioners that would help combat the dryness and flakes? Whats weird is that it really only is dry around my hairlines, like right above my forehead, my back of neck hairline, and my upper side burn area. I hear olive oil is great so I tried that, but it made my hair feel very oily with the flakes and itchiness still present...plus it was
  24. Hey everybody, I'm starting Accutane to hopefully improve my facial acne and persistent/annoying scalp folliculitis. For a little background, I've tried basically every topical (Differin, Finacea, Aczone, etc) as well as every antibiotic in existence (minocycline, doxycycline, bactrim, amoxicillin). To be honest, my acne was completely clear during the amoxicillin regimen, but as soon as I came off about a year long treatment I developed a terrible case of folliculitis. My derm believes the
