  1. So i went to my GP for acne problems. its nothing severe but its VERY persistent. i've been going to him for years and getting different antibiotics which just do not work. He's just referred me to the hospital and the appointment is the end of october and i just dont want to wait that long ESPECIALLY if at the hospital he says he cant do anything. its got the point where i wont go into shops because all of them have massive mirrors and I HATE seeing the inflammation and redness and the spots, i

    Need Help

Hi I am 14 and a half years old and have started to get acne quite bad, most of the time i have only had 1 or 2 pimples here or there but recently, i started getting it worse and worse and have tried proactive clean and clear, home remedies, everything but nothing has been working we went to the dermatologist 2 months ago and i got prescribed doxycline, and it has done nothing for me, i have had two big cystic pimples on my cheeks for about 2 months now they just wont go away, there are about 5
  3. Hello everyone. Not sure where to start really. 6 days ago I went to a dermatologist for the first time in my life. I am 17 and have had acne since I was about 15. recently it started getting quite bad. I had tried many options including basically all the over the counter medicine, 2 different types of anti-biotic, massive diet change and differin. The most effective of these methods was actually the diet change. I cut down on dairy and carbs and my acne really started to go away and the redness
  4. Hello everyone! I'm unsure whether anyone will be interested in actually reading my log but if not, it'll be useful for me anyways! It's still early days, I'm only about a month and a half into my accutane course so I haven't logged since day one which sucks but better late than never, right?! I absolutely love this community because it has helped me so much in the past and I know what it's like to google things every 10-20 minutes and land yourself on this website reading if someone else is

    It's About Time...

I've been a silent observer to this website for a very long time. So long in fact that I have already made the life-changing decision to begin an Isotretinoin treatment and am currently on my 47th day of treatment. Reading so many other blogs has inspired me to create my own, especially when I've experienced the difference it has made for me to read the commentary so many others have provided throughout their Iso journey. So even though they will probably never read this, thank you to all of the
  6. Here's my plight!!! It's long so bear with me. I've had acne for about five years now. I'm currently in my junior year of high school. While my acne isn't severe or cystic, every single pimple I get causes hyperpigmentation and I have a dark mark on my face for weeks (if I'm super lucky) or months (normal). I have plenty of comedomes on my cheeks which often get inflamed and cause the spot to turn red and fill with pus. After they pop, they leave a HUGE black mark and often times the same spot w

    My Accutane Progress

This is the first time I have posted about my accutane experience since starting treatment, I just wanted to share with other accutane users how far i've come as I enter my 4th Month, currentlt 143 days to be precise, and as you can see I haven't a single active spot on my face, it is all dominated by slight redness and left over red marks from breakouts. Overall though I am thrilled with my skin and I cant wait to finish treatment so that I can get rid of the left over marks ). Hope this helps

    4th course of Roaccutane

Hi, im about to start my 4th course of Roaccutane. I was first prescribed it when I was 18, then when I was 21, 26, and now 8 months after my last course I'm being prescribed it again. Has anyone else had to have this many courses? ive heard of people being clear after their third course but I'm really disheartened that I'm having to take it again!!!! And also the fact it's not even been a year since I last took it. Unfortunately nothing else seems to be able get rid of it. Natalie
  9. Hey guys, I was thinking of booking an appointment with Sk:n who said they can offer Roaccutane. Would I be able to get it prescribed privately, then pay for prescriptions/get blood work done on the NHS?
  10. Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and to Accutane (Roaccutane in the UK). I'm on 30mg a day and have just I completed my first month, I had my blood work done on Monday for my monthly check up. Lately I can't help but notice how full I've been without eating. I've been eating a minimul amount everyday not through choice and have read that a lack of appetite can be linked to liver problems. As we know, Accutane is processed by the liver so I'm a little scared that the Accutane could be doing some
  11. I'm male and 17 years old. I've been on 40 mg a day for the past 6 months and finish the course next week. Will my skin continue to get better, or is this the best it can be? When my other friends finished their course they had completely clear skin, but I still have lots of red marks (almost looks like spots under skin) although my face is completely smooth. (See photo) If my skin won't improve further naturally, is there anything I can do to improve it?
  12. hi, so I've been struggling with acne since I was about 13, but recently it has flared up as a result of the birth control pill that I started in late June-early July. I've been on 5 different medications that have all failed (duac, zineryt, differin, oxytetracycline and lymecycline), switched to a vegan diet in April and plus have tried every single over-the-counter method (like everyone). yet nothing is working! I exercise regularly (dancing and occasional running and gym) yet I still look
  13. So, basically my doctor has messed up my appointment dates and has scheduled me to come in a week after my Roaccutane pills run out.. I've been on 40mg for 4 months and it looks like i will have to wait 7-9 days to get more and continue my treatment which is scheduled for 6 months. Anyone else had this problem or been on holiday and not taken the pills during treatment??
  14. Hi i've got some issues regarding my Accutane treatment and need some reassurance/advice. I'm almost on to my last month and I'm not to happy. I started treatment with what would be classed as mild to moderate facial acne, some inflamed and a lot of uninflamed under the skin. During month one my face went crazy and turned cystic due to so much activity stuck under the skin. It gradually improved into months 2, 3 and 4 leaving a LOT of scarring and marks. I'm now entering my last mo
  15. Hello! So I am a 20 yr old female that has had acne for 7-8 years, its is fairly bad and is cystic. I FINALLY managed to get a referral to a dermatologist from my GP and booked an appointment for the 18th of June.. I am pretty upset that I have to wait that long as I really just want to clear my skin up already! So my question is how long does it take to get roaccutane once you see the derm? Do you get the prescription that day or do you have to have another appointment? Many thanks!!

    My Roaccutane Journey

Hello, I wanted to write this article in the hope that it will reassure potential Roaccutane/Accutane users that people do have positive experiences on it, despite all the negative press, which put me off the drug for so long, something I regret having seen the results it has had for me. I have had acne for the best part of 7 years, having got it when I was about 13. It started as little bumps under the skin on my forehead and gradually became big, red spots. My acne was never sever, I know

    DAY 13

Nothing much to say once again haha! The spots on my chin aren't as big today, that's the only thing I've noticed! I I think because I take my tablet so late in the evening after my dinner which is usually half 7, I'm sleeping through a lot of the tablet being in my system so I'm not feeling too many effects yet, I haven't had pains in a while! And taking it straight after dinner I think soaks up a lot of the tablet so I'm not having too my dryness (I don't want to speak too soon though!

    Week 19 50Mg

Got a cyst on my chin, massive cyst on my forehead, and a small pimple on side of my head. I don't know why I let myself get excited whenever my skin gets a little better, because I always end up back at this point My pores are becoming more visible again and my nose is so oily what the hell is going on I'm also very very sick with a stomach bug, feel so horrible The corner of my mouth split again and have annoying dry patches near my mouth and chin that won't go away Absolutely nothing h
  19. hello guys, I'm starting this topic again because it's actually very pertinent to understand the common symptoms between people treated with 5ar inhibitors and the so called :"Post Finasteride Syndrom" I was in my life 4 times treated with Accutane here in Europe (Roaccutane as it is name here). Each cycle last about 9 to 12 months. Now, I have 42 years old and I have very law SHBG levels and accordingly an absence of libido. I went to visit an Endocrinologist who gave me my precise levels o

    Frustrated With Derm

Hi all,I am currently 2 months into my accutane course. I am taking 20mg/day and I weigh between 52-53kg. I visited the nhs derm last week and he said that my skin was looking good and I may only have to do a 4 month course. However he only gave my skin a brief glance and said that I had no active acne... a massive lie! that day I had 2 new cysts on my left cheek as well as some on my back, as well as blackheads on my nose, chest and back. Is my derm blind or optimistic? My acne isn't severe how
  21. Hi! I'm dealing with severe acne since I was 13. 7 years later I have tried everything on the market for acne. I've also taken several antibiotics for acne, and tried many topical creams and nothing worked. The only thing that is left for me to try is isotretinoin. I was so happy when I heard about it, thinking it would cure my acne for good. But after reading about isotretinoin online, I have found out that it contains soya oil, and that patients who are allergic to nuts and soya can't take thi
  22. Hey Guys, My name is Taylah I'm 17 years old from Australia, and I've been suffering with acne since I was about 12 years old. I started to take medication around the age of 15 and have pretty much tried every single antibiotic out there. As well as using many different skin care products that never seem to do much at all. So, after years of being ashamed and depressed about how my skin looks I've decided that enough is enough and went to see a dermatologist and he said my last option would be

    Day 24 on Roaccutane

So today is day 24, feels like its been a lifetime already and I'm not even done with my first month! I phoned Dermatology today to get my bloods back, and they're all normal thank God. My weekend was a bit booze-fuelled so I was surprised, but I'm glad! I've been really good since starting Roaccutane and not had a drink, but did slip up which I will try not to do too much. Re my face, its getting dry now especially around the spots. They are quite scabby but I think they're reducing in siz
