  1. I'm male and 17 years old. I've been on 40 mg a day for the past 6 months and finish the course next week. Will my skin continue to get better, or is this the best it can be? When my other friends finished their course they had completely clear skin, but I still have lots of red marks (almost looks like spots under skin) although my face is completely smooth. (See photo) If my skin won't improve further naturally, is there anything I can do to improve it?
  2. hi, so I've been struggling with acne since I was about 13, but recently it has flared up as a result of the birth control pill that I started in late June-early July. I've been on 5 different medications that have all failed (duac, zineryt, differin, oxytetracycline and lymecycline), switched to a vegan diet in April and plus have tried every single over-the-counter method (like everyone). yet nothing is working! I exercise regularly (dancing and occasional running and gym) yet I still look
  3. So, basically my doctor has messed up my appointment dates and has scheduled me to come in a week after my Roaccutane pills run out.. I've been on 40mg for 4 months and it looks like i will have to wait 7-9 days to get more and continue my treatment which is scheduled for 6 months. Anyone else had this problem or been on holiday and not taken the pills during treatment??
  4. Hi i've got some issues regarding my Accutane treatment and need some reassurance/advice. I'm almost on to my last month and I'm not to happy. I started treatment with what would be classed as mild to moderate facial acne, some inflamed and a lot of uninflamed under the skin. During month one my face went crazy and turned cystic due to so much activity stuck under the skin. It gradually improved into months 2, 3 and 4 leaving a LOT of scarring and marks. I'm now entering my last mo
  5. Hello! So I am a 20 yr old female that has had acne for 7-8 years, its is fairly bad and is cystic. I FINALLY managed to get a referral to a dermatologist from my GP and booked an appointment for the 18th of June.. I am pretty upset that I have to wait that long as I really just want to clear my skin up already! So my question is how long does it take to get roaccutane once you see the derm? Do you get the prescription that day or do you have to have another appointment? Many thanks!!

    My Roaccutane Journey

Hello, I wanted to write this article in the hope that it will reassure potential Roaccutane/Accutane users that people do have positive experiences on it, despite all the negative press, which put me off the drug for so long, something I regret having seen the results it has had for me. I have had acne for the best part of 7 years, having got it when I was about 13. It started as little bumps under the skin on my forehead and gradually became big, red spots. My acne was never sever, I know

    Day 24 on Roaccutane

So today is day 24, feels like its been a lifetime already and I'm not even done with my first month! I phoned Dermatology today to get my bloods back, and they're all normal thank God. My weekend was a bit booze-fuelled so I was surprised, but I'm glad! I've been really good since starting Roaccutane and not had a drink, but did slip up which I will try not to do too much. Re my face, its getting dry now especially around the spots. They are quite scabby but I think they're reducing in siz
  8. Hello everyone, I'm writing today looking for some help before I embark on my 5-month roaccutane course. So I visited my GP a few months ago, speaking about my moderate comidonal acne which had not responded to treatment. He referred me to an NHS dermatologist, who visits my doctors surgery monthly. I had a very very brief consultation with him; he told me I was going on the drug, told me to get a blood test and go on the contraceptive pill and come back to visit him the next month. I did bo

    DAY 17

My scalp is so dry now, has anybody got any recommendations for something to put on it? The problem is right at my hairline and there's a lot of flakiness. The only part of my face that's dry are my cheeks, my lips haven't gotten dry yet! Thankfully.
  10. My skin is getting more and more oily but it doesn't bother me much. I had 3 days of binge eating chocolate, crisps, cake, cheeses, everything and I got a few comedones and bumps on my forhead and chin which just intlamed, blistered and then peeled off. I also got this weird bumpy rash around the sides of my face but it disappeared as soon as I started eating properly I'm very glad I do not get cysts anymore and My acne may not be much of a problem but I think I still have some kind of dermatit
  11. Hello, I was 7 months on the drug, now it has been over a month since im over with my treatment, and one of my dermatologist told me that scar treatment may start after a month yet another told me that i must wait 6 months? waiting 6 months sounds like hell, and im so stressed about this issue, cant you really do anything about those scars for 6 months???????

    Week 3

Oh man, how happy am I that week 3 showed a vast improvement! So, I'm still suffering from mood swings - but I can mostly attribute that to my past history with taking medication, as my body isn't used to having this sort of stuff in my system. Plus, I have had a slight issue with mood before taking Roaccutane so I'm not super worried about that. My lips are finally healing! Hallelujah, they were looking very worrying all last week so I'm glad using the right treatment has helped. In te
  13. I have my derm appt. on the 24th October to pick up my prescriptions if you're in Toronto and take isotretinoin please PM me!! I have some questions and would greatly appreciate it!. Thanks
  14. So, since I already had bloods taken I'm having them repeated just because the doctor wants to make sure, which is happening next Wendesday, and then my Ultrasound scan is next Thursday. I will make a post with what happens. I will also post some pictures after this weekend of what my skin currently looks like.

    Day 39

Okiley dokily, so I'm on day 39 and not really sure why I'm blogging, as I haven't got a whole lot to report! Had my hair done today and a lovely back massage, which made me feel a little better in some ways but all the girls in the salon were planning a girly night as a new club has opened in town (which I was invited to but will not go out at the moment looking like this!!), and they all had lovely skin so it made me feel a little sad. Once I wouldn't have even given it a second thought, but

    DAY 16

Still dry, very hot in Dublin at the moment and the heat is making me even more tired. Trying to keep my face out of the sun at all times.
  17. Hi, I'm a long time reader, first time poster. To start with I am indian coloured with quite fair skin. I had a bad acne flair up aged around 25 (I think it was stress, maybe diet related) and was given a course of roaccutane. If memory serves me right they started me on a lower dosage of around 30 and this was then increased to 60. It worked brilliantly...I barely had any of the reported side effects apart from dry skin which if anyone is interested I managed with apaderm (hospital gave me th
  18. Hello, I am about to begin a course of roaccutane and I was instructed to use moisturiser for the face and lips, artificial eyedrops and a strong sunscreen. However the moisturiser dilutes the sunscreen and what's even worse is that I use chemical sunscreen. I just don't see it happening - as long as the moisturiser holds in water, it will dilute the sunscreen. Can I get away without the moisturiser during the day and only use it at night?
  19. So, today is the day when I start my course of Roaccutane! I went to the dermatologist today and picked up my first prescription, i'm using the actual brand name Roaccutane, not a generic brand which I feel much better about. I'm on 30mg a day for the first two months, then getting my dosage ramped up; I weigh around 8 and a half stone which equals just over 50kgs, so I guess my final dosage will be 50 or 60 mg a day towards the end, and i've been told my course will last a minimum of 4 months.
  20. Hi all, It's been a while since I posted on here but thought i'd not only update on my situation but I also have a few questions and would love some other's perspectives or experiences. In October 2012, I was signed off form my job in recruitment for a few weeks with anxiety and depression and it was around this time that my acne got particularly bad, and has been bad ever since. I ended up handing in my notice and giving up the job altogether. I moved home for a bit and left my flat in
  21. Hi I'm Lex and I have been taking Accutane for 2 Months now. My acne has been controlled from day one of the pills, it almost feels too good to be true. I haven't experienced any serious side effects such as; depression, confusion, stress or any other mental side effects, for which I am grateful. I have some tips on the less serious side effects. I have experienced dry skin, scarring, dry hair and liver discomfort, all of which I have been able to control with my routine, which is why I thought
  22. I'm Erin and I started my daily 20mg dose of roaccutane on 11th November 2013. I'm not going to bore you with how my acne looks, how I feel about my acne and how long I've suffered with it for because besides the fact you're probably all in the same boat as me, it's depressing enough having to think about it never mind having to type it out for you all to read! So yeah, just some general questions really for people who have experienced "life on accutane..." I have now been on roaccutan

    DAY 19

Nothing new to note. I'm almost 3 weeks in and I haven't had any dryness of the face that's worth noting yet, starting to wonder could I just get really lucky.. But I don't want to jinx it! My lips haven't dried one bit! My lip balm is really good though

    Roaccutane 10mg/day

Roaccutane journal 10mg /day I am 24, female, and have been struggling with chin/jawline acne. This is a week by week journal of my skin while on 10mg/day roaccutane. I am currently 3 months in and will update as I progress. Week 1 (ending 9/6/18): Slight lip dryness (dry from winter anyway-not sure if this is a side effect) No new breakouts Still lots of existing congestion under skin around chin area (large cystic as well as little bumps) Wee
  25. Hi, I've recently started Roaccutane (accutane) and I'm on my fifth day. I'm starting on a dosage of 20mg for the 1st month then upping it to 40mg for the 2nd month. The dermatologist said i will probably need a 4 month course but I'm not sure how high my dosage will go to. I've had acne since i was 10 and I'm now 22 It's never been severe but it's moderate acne and ALWAYS there. Going on Roaccutane as a last-ditch attempt. Just wondering about how people found the drug who have suf
