  1. This whole time I was eagerly waiting to start month 4 because during my last round I took photos as often as I could remember and it w after month 3 that I noticed a definite improvement in my skin. And, I can say that has held true! I don’t have any major breakouts. I don’t still have quite a few very small unnoticeable comedones on my chin that I honestly don’t know if they’ll ever come to surface if I don’t aggravate them. I sort of want them out, tho. Is it worth the break out and potential
  2. Roaccutane journal 10mg /day I am 24, female, and have been struggling with chin/jawline acne. This is a week by week journal of my skin while on 10mg/day roaccutane. I am currently 3 months in and will update as I progress. Week 1 (ending 9/6/18): Slight lip dryness (dry from winter anyway-not sure if this is a side effect) No new breakouts Still lots of existing congestion under skin around chin area (large cystic as well as little bumps) Wee

    Day 13

My first entry is written on the 26th of May, the 13th day I've been on Roaccutane. I only had the idea of documenting this journey today, but better late than never right? Oh and my dose for the first month and a half is 40mg per day. The first week on the pills went by pretty smoothly, no significant difference in my skin except for a little bit of dry, flaky skin on my nose and chin. My lips started drying very soon too, but I bought a jug of Vaseline to carry everywhere with me, and so fa
  4. So I am done with week 3 and going in week 4 already ! time is passing by so fast which is a good thing while on roaccutane . So sadly I am in the bad phase now, the past week I had break outs and it seems like acne are taking longer to heal (or at least to puff down). The past week my nose was very bumpy and rough, it seems like the blackheads on my nose are coming out which made the texture of my nose very rough and weird. Even though I know I am not suppose to do any scrubbing while on ro
  5. Day 1 - I am starting of at a low dosage of 10mg/day as told by my dermatologist. I just took my first pill right after a heavy meal as I heard heavy meals help the pill to absorb better. My routine consists of gentle cleansing, toner, and moisturizer day and night. I will wear a cc cream with SPF 50 if I go out. Day 2 - I have not experienced any side effects, nor has there been any change in my acne. My friends tell me to try rubbing raw potato on my skin, as it can help clear acne fast
  6. Only 1 update since yesterday: my face (my cheeks only) is red.. i look blushed all the time now. it doesnt hurt/itch/bother so i really dont mind. Lips are still ok, no aches, no nose bleeds, no extra dryness, no new break outs.
  7. Hey guys! So yesterday I had my appointment at the hospital to start my Roaccutane journey. I was so excited and couldn't wait to get started. After doing a pregnancy test and a long chat with the dermatologist I signed the papers regarding pregnancy and birth defects and was prescribed Roaccutane YAY. I am only on 20mg to start which is the lowest dose but said I will go up to 40mg in month two. Was just wondering if anyone who is on 20mg could let me know when to expect side effects e.g dryn
  8. I have just noticed in the mirror the skin on my upper back looks the best it has ever been. I always thought the look of it was just rough, greasy horrible skin. Now I realise it was tiny pimples which have all gone apart from two. I am surprised actually at the change. At last a positive. I had a massive go at my face last night as it was so lumpy and painful. Got loads out, looking little flatter today. Still need a ton of make up.
  9. Can't believe it's been 4 weeks already! Just two days under a month and i'm really happy with my skin the past few days. This cheek in particular has cleared up loads and is a lot less red than when I compare it to pictures I took a month ago! This cheek is always the worst with my acne but I can also see an improvement here when I compare it to a month ago.

    DAY 19

Nothing new to note. I'm almost 3 weeks in and I haven't had any dryness of the face that's worth noting yet, starting to wonder could I just get really lucky.. But I don't want to jinx it! My lips haven't dried one bit! My lip balm is really good though

    DAY 17

My scalp is so dry now, has anybody got any recommendations for something to put on it? The problem is right at my hairline and there's a lot of flakiness. The only part of my face that's dry are my cheeks, my lips haven't gotten dry yet! Thankfully.

    DAY 16

Still dry, very hot in Dublin at the moment and the heat is making me even more tired. Trying to keep my face out of the sun at all times.

    DAY 13

Nothing much to say once again haha! The spots on my chin aren't as big today, that's the only thing I've noticed! I I think because I take my tablet so late in the evening after my dinner which is usually half 7, I'm sleeping through a lot of the tablet being in my system so I'm not feeling too many effects yet, I haven't had pains in a while! And taking it straight after dinner I think soaks up a lot of the tablet so I'm not having too my dryness (I don't want to speak too soon though!
  14. Here are some photos from the end of week 1. I am breaking out a little more which I thought might not have done, ha! I woke up with a spot by my mouth that wasn't there last night and already came to a head. Fastest ever. New ones on my neck too. The volcano cyst thing on my cheek kind of never surfaced as it normally would have but it's now a nasty red patch. My lips are still dry and I am finding Burts bees the best by far. My nose peeling has calmed down now and next to my nose is a tiny bit

    End Of Week 11

Oh I am so sorry guys - January has been a particularly crazy month....! So in my last post it was end of week 8 and I have seen some great results. Really, the only thing that I have to deal with now is the scarring. Mine is so bad from all the awful blemishes and my complete inability to NOT mess with them.... As I can't exfoliate or use any products that encourage peeling etc. I will just have to let time run it's course. I did think about perhaps using BioOil, as people seem to see res

    End Of Week 8

Hola All, Merry Christmas!! I hope you all celebrated in style with lots of family and loved ones! My apologies - I have missed Week 7 as I have been on holiday in China over Christmas and a lot of websites are banned there, including this one! However I am pleased to say that all is still going well with the treatment. I am starting to notice more severity in the side effects, my hands are starting to crack and I'm having to moisturise them as much as my lips...(accutane still has N

    End Of Week 6

Hello All, So I mentioned before that I was going to see my Derm this week to see where I was with my treatment etc. looks like my body is taking accutane very well, as my side effects are not as severe as what most people go through. 1. My initial breakout was a couple of big cysts, only lasting for just less than two weeks. Apparently some people can suffer from IB for a month. However, she did say that this can be curbed with antibiotics and it's rare that it should last that long -

    End Of Week 5

Hello All, So, I feel confident enough to post a pic...before my roaccutane treatment began (check out that STONKER on my foehead!) and after 5 weeks. Happy to say that the results are great ! Still on the same skincare regime and not experiencing any flakiness on my face or dryness - so Body Shop's Vitamin E range is perfect for me. Seeing my derm this week for my first follow up appt, quite excited to hear her advice on my prescription, if she'll bump me up to 60mg a day. Still no

    End Of Week 2

So earlier this week I posted a half way post mid-week 2...still not sure if I was experiencing the initial breakout, or not, since most of the reviews I've read don't mention it until week 3...which I'm just about to embark on! Upped my dosage to 40mg today and will keep it so for another month before seeing my derm for a blood test and update on the treatment. I have switched my moisturiser to 'simple everyday moisture' as it's a little less oily and I don't think that the accutane ha
  20. Well, I seem to have a flurry of new spots come up, mostly on my right cheek. Not totally out of the ordinary for me but normally I wouldn't get this many in one go. That being said, they come up fast, whitehead fast, and then leave pretty fast... One thing I can't determine is whether it's the roaccutane or my moisturiser that's causing the havoc. I switched to a La Roche Posay Effaclar H, after my derm recommended the range. However, the cream has shea butter in it, and that since it's oil
  21. Hello, I wanted to write this article in the hope that it will reassure potential Roaccutane/Accutane users that people do have positive experiences on it, despite all the negative press, which put me off the drug for so long, something I regret having seen the results it has had for me. I have had acne for the best part of 7 years, having got it when I was about 13. It started as little bumps under the skin on my forehead and gradually became big, red spots. My acne was never sever, I know
  22. I've been a silent observer to this website for a very long time. So long in fact that I have already made the life-changing decision to begin an Isotretinoin treatment and am currently on my 47th day of treatment. Reading so many other blogs has inspired me to create my own, especially when I've experienced the difference it has made for me to read the commentary so many others have provided throughout their Iso journey. So even though they will probably never read this, thank you to all of the

    Day 40

From the album: Zenatane Progress Photos

Day 40 at 40 mg twice a day. I was feeling the best about my skin so far at this point! I ran a 5k this day in the beautiful but extremely humid Charleston, SC this day which accounts for a good deal of that redness. Everything on my face was flattening down and my skin was feeling so smooth. Starting to feel like a turn around!

  25. I almost forgot to post this, but then I remembered, TWO MONTHS! YAY!!! So, two months on Roaccutane. Hopefully it's going to be uphill from here on out. You'd be surprised to know that I finally got my script sent out, but it's the WRONG DAMN SCRIPT. So it will probably be another 6-10 years before the correct one will arrive. So, I'm still on 60mg. My skin isn't looking too bad at the moment. It is definitely smoother, for sure. I'm very, very dry all over my body though. My arms, my
