  1. Hi, So its almost been 2 years since I last posted on Acne.org and kind of feel that I owe the community something after it helped me so much in my time of need. First off my name is Tim and in January 2010 i started a years course of accutane finishing this January gone (2011). My dosage at first was 20mg which then rose to 60/80mg then gradually back down towards the end of my treatment. I found life on accutane very, very hard. The drug is a BITCH, but at times we need a bitch to put us
  2. Hey, I have acne since January and i’ve been to the dermatologist, she told me that my Acne was moderate, she prescribed me a creme ( epiduo gel). She told me to take Tetralysal if i had no results after 2-3 months using epiduo. Now it’s almost 3 months, my Acne became almost severe. I wanna take accutane, I have a rendez-vous with a new dermatologist wednesday. I wanna ask him accutane but I don’t know if he will prescribed me if because I never took antibiotics. I know my brother took it, he

    Day 39

Okiley dokily, so I'm on day 39 and not really sure why I'm blogging, as I haven't got a whole lot to report! Had my hair done today and a lovely back massage, which made me feel a little better in some ways but all the girls in the salon were planning a girly night as a new club has opened in town (which I was invited to but will not go out at the moment looking like this!!), and they all had lovely skin so it made me feel a little sad. Once I wouldn't have even given it a second thought, but
  4. So today is day 24, feels like its been a lifetime already and I'm not even done with my first month! I phoned Dermatology today to get my bloods back, and they're all normal thank God. My weekend was a bit booze-fuelled so I was surprised, but I'm glad! I've been really good since starting Roaccutane and not had a drink, but did slip up which I will try not to do too much. Re my face, its getting dry now especially around the spots. They are quite scabby but I think they're reducing in siz
  5. Ok guys .. so I'm on my second week of tretinoin and my skin just gets WORSE AND WORSE and I'm crying everyday and not going out anymore . I don't have much drying anymore . I have deep cysts with no head on my left cheek . Please help and comment if you think anything can help .. I'm desperate do you think I should go on Accutane ? Or continue the retin a cream ? Or try something else ? Thank you guys so much

    Day 40

I guess i shouldn't say this, but it seems that my acne is slightly starting to fade out...
  7. Starting day: End of week one: End of week two: End of 3rd week: (yes i’d hada nose bleed!) It’s been 3 weeks since I’ve started Rosccutane, and from now I’ll be trying to update this journal everyday for the rest of my time on the drug in question. Side effects so far: > Dry skin (obviously...) > Dry lips (obvious, again...) > Back pain > Dry/Sore eyes >Nosebleeds Wednesday 14th Feb 2018: had a small nosebleed at school. Lips have been fine,
  8. 9th month on ACCUTANE 40mg (24,female,cystic acne on both cheeks, jawline and chin) Skin type - normal Side effects - *Absent minded *Feeling numb emotionaly UPDATE - Excellent month. No cysts. Although had few 2-3 pimples. Nothing serious thou. My skin is so calm and nice to me. Not much side effects either. No joint or muscle pain (taking vitamin d3 and calcium regularly)
  9. hi, so I've been struggling with acne since I was about 13, but recently it has flared up as a result of the birth control pill that I started in late June-early July. I've been on 5 different medications that have all failed (duac, zineryt, differin, oxytetracycline and lymecycline), switched to a vegan diet in April and plus have tried every single over-the-counter method (like everyone). yet nothing is working! I exercise regularly (dancing and occasional running and gym) yet I still look
  10. hello guys, I'm starting this topic again because it's actually very pertinent to understand the common symptoms between people treated with 5ar inhibitors and the so called :"Post Finasteride Syndrom" I was in my life 4 times treated with Accutane here in Europe (Roaccutane as it is name here). Each cycle last about 9 to 12 months. Now, I have 42 years old and I have very law SHBG levels and accordingly an absence of libido. I went to visit an Endocrinologist who gave me my precise levels o
  11. I've had suicidal thoughts for years and I started self harming a couple of years ago and still do it every while or so. Nobody knows about any of it and I am not planning on telling anyone about it either but I'm starting roaccutane soon for my acne and I've noticed one of the rare side effects is depression and suicidal thoughts? Should I be worried?
  12. Hello I am writing a research paper regarding Roaccutane for a nursing degree and was hoping I could get some data! As an acne sufferer I have always pondered going on Roaccutane but have never filled my prescription... It would be much appreciated if anyone who has taken Roaccutane before could answer 10 questions regarding their experience on the medication. The main answers I'm looking for are if you were happy with your results and if you noticed side effects.https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/X
  13. Hey guys, I was thinking of booking an appointment with Sk:n who said they can offer Roaccutane. Would I be able to get it prescribed privately, then pay for prescriptions/get blood work done on the NHS?
  14. Hi im a 17 year old girl and ive had acne for the past 4 years but ive been getting spots since ive been 11. Its the usual story, ive tried everything including zinteryt, benzoyl peroxide, duac, lymecycline, tetracyline ( been on antibiotics for the past 2 years) and also differin cream and 3 types of birth control. My acne was never on my cheeks until i started using birth control and now its only gotten progressively worse. Ive tries microgynon which gave me headaches, the implant which made t
  15. Hi, im about to start my 4th course of Roaccutane. I was first prescribed it when I was 18, then when I was 21, 26, and now 8 months after my last course I'm being prescribed it again. Has anyone else had to have this many courses? ive heard of people being clear after their third course but I'm really disheartened that I'm having to take it again!!!! And also the fact it's not even been a year since I last took it. Unfortunately nothing else seems to be able get rid of it. Natalie
  16. Roaccutane journal 10mg /day I am 24, female, and have been struggling with chin/jawline acne. This is a week by week journal of my skin while on 10mg/day roaccutane. I am currently 3 months in and will update as I progress. Week 1 (ending 9/6/18): Slight lip dryness (dry from winter anyway-not sure if this is a side effect) No new breakouts Still lots of existing congestion under skin around chin area (large cystic as well as little bumps) Wee

    Day 13

My first entry is written on the 26th of May, the 13th day I've been on Roaccutane. I only had the idea of documenting this journey today, but better late than never right? Oh and my dose for the first month and a half is 40mg per day. The first week on the pills went by pretty smoothly, no significant difference in my skin except for a little bit of dry, flaky skin on my nose and chin. My lips started drying very soon too, but I bought a jug of Vaseline to carry everywhere with me, and so fa
  18. So I am done with week 3 and going in week 4 already ! time is passing by so fast which is a good thing while on roaccutane . So sadly I am in the bad phase now, the past week I had break outs and it seems like acne are taking longer to heal (or at least to puff down). The past week my nose was very bumpy and rough, it seems like the blackheads on my nose are coming out which made the texture of my nose very rough and weird. Even though I know I am not suppose to do any scrubbing while on ro
  19. Day 1 - I am starting of at a low dosage of 10mg/day as told by my dermatologist. I just took my first pill right after a heavy meal as I heard heavy meals help the pill to absorb better. My routine consists of gentle cleansing, toner, and moisturizer day and night. I will wear a cc cream with SPF 50 if I go out. Day 2 - I have not experienced any side effects, nor has there been any change in my acne. My friends tell me to try rubbing raw potato on my skin, as it can help clear acne fast
  20. I have just noticed in the mirror the skin on my upper back looks the best it has ever been. I always thought the look of it was just rough, greasy horrible skin. Now I realise it was tiny pimples which have all gone apart from two. I am surprised actually at the change. At last a positive. I had a massive go at my face last night as it was so lumpy and painful. Got loads out, looking little flatter today. Still need a ton of make up.
  21. Can't believe it's been 4 weeks already! Just two days under a month and i'm really happy with my skin the past few days. This cheek in particular has cleared up loads and is a lot less red than when I compare it to pictures I took a month ago! This cheek is always the worst with my acne but I can also see an improvement here when I compare it to a month ago.

    DAY 19

Nothing new to note. I'm almost 3 weeks in and I haven't had any dryness of the face that's worth noting yet, starting to wonder could I just get really lucky.. But I don't want to jinx it! My lips haven't dried one bit! My lip balm is really good though

    DAY 17

My scalp is so dry now, has anybody got any recommendations for something to put on it? The problem is right at my hairline and there's a lot of flakiness. The only part of my face that's dry are my cheeks, my lips haven't gotten dry yet! Thankfully.

    DAY 16

Still dry, very hot in Dublin at the moment and the heat is making me even more tired. Trying to keep my face out of the sun at all times.

    DAY 13

Nothing much to say once again haha! The spots on my chin aren't as big today, that's the only thing I've noticed! I I think because I take my tablet so late in the evening after my dinner which is usually half 7, I'm sleeping through a lot of the tablet being in my system so I'm not feeling too many effects yet, I haven't had pains in a while! And taking it straight after dinner I think soaks up a lot of the tablet so I'm not having too my dryness (I don't want to speak too soon though!
