    Roaccutane Diary

Hi everyone, I'm a 16 year old and have recently been prescribed Roaccutane. I have decided to keep a diary of my progress for people who aren't sure whether or not Roaccutane is for them. Personally I was looking forward to going on the drug. I was so sick of my skin as I have had ongoing spots since I was 12/13, but my skin got really bad since last year. Previously I had tried every product known to get rid of spots but none of them worked. I was using a skincare salicylic acid wash given

    My Accutane Progress

This is the first time I have posted about my accutane experience since starting treatment, I just wanted to share with other accutane users how far i've come as I enter my 4th Month, currentlt 143 days to be precise, and as you can see I haven't a single active spot on my face, it is all dominated by slight redness and left over red marks from breakouts. Overall though I am thrilled with my skin and I cant wait to finish treatment so that I can get rid of the left over marks ). Hope this helps
  4. Hi all, It's been a while since I posted on here but thought i'd not only update on my situation but I also have a few questions and would love some other's perspectives or experiences. In October 2012, I was signed off form my job in recruitment for a few weeks with anxiety and depression and it was around this time that my acne got particularly bad, and has been bad ever since. I ended up handing in my notice and giving up the job altogether. I moved home for a bit and left my flat in

    Frustrated With Derm

Hi all,I am currently 2 months into my accutane course. I am taking 20mg/day and I weigh between 52-53kg. I visited the nhs derm last week and he said that my skin was looking good and I may only have to do a 4 month course. However he only gave my skin a brief glance and said that I had no active acne... a massive lie! that day I had 2 new cysts on my left cheek as well as some on my back, as well as blackheads on my nose, chest and back. Is my derm blind or optimistic? My acne isn't severe how
  7. Hi I'm Lex and I have been taking Accutane for 2 Months now. My acne has been controlled from day one of the pills, it almost feels too good to be true. I haven't experienced any serious side effects such as; depression, confusion, stress or any other mental side effects, for which I am grateful. I have some tips on the less serious side effects. I have experienced dry skin, scarring, dry hair and liver discomfort, all of which I have been able to control with my routine, which is why I thought
  8. I'm male and 17 years old. I've been on 40 mg a day for the past 6 months and finish the course next week. Will my skin continue to get better, or is this the best it can be? When my other friends finished their course they had completely clear skin, but I still have lots of red marks (almost looks like spots under skin) although my face is completely smooth. (See photo) If my skin won't improve further naturally, is there anything I can do to improve it?
  9. So, basically my doctor has messed up my appointment dates and has scheduled me to come in a week after my Roaccutane pills run out.. I've been on 40mg for 4 months and it looks like i will have to wait 7-9 days to get more and continue my treatment which is scheduled for 6 months. Anyone else had this problem or been on holiday and not taken the pills during treatment??
  10. Hello there, I never though I would arrive to this point but you'll find out why. Long story short : been suffering since 10th grade, I'm now 2nd year in college. I have them all over my face and they're absolutely horrible but I always had a positive attitude, and they never brought me down. Social effects : lots of friends , only girl problems, I don't want them to be with me looking like that, so I don't bother trying. Psychological : at first I had a negative attitude towards th
  11. Need Help

Hi I am 14 and a half years old and have started to get acne quite bad, most of the time i have only had 1 or 2 pimples here or there but recently, i started getting it worse and worse and have tried proactive clean and clear, home remedies, everything but nothing has been working we went to the dermatologist 2 months ago and i got prescribed doxycline, and it has done nothing for me, i have had two big cystic pimples on my cheeks for about 2 months now they just wont go away, there are about 5
  14. Hey guys, I'm currently on Roaccutane and am really really pale, which means that every single bit of hyperpigmentation (and there is a lot) is on full show. I'm so pale you can even see veins! I used to go to the sunbeds once a week for like 5 minutes before I started (not a lot at all) to just keep up a slight tan, however, this is obviously not really doable... I'm not a massive fan of spray tans as I find they are just far too messy, and especially on Roaccutane with the dry skin it ju
  15. Hello everyone. Not sure where to start really. 6 days ago I went to a dermatologist for the first time in my life. I am 17 and have had acne since I was about 15. recently it started getting quite bad. I had tried many options including basically all the over the counter medicine, 2 different types of anti-biotic, massive diet change and differin. The most effective of these methods was actually the diet change. I cut down on dairy and carbs and my acne really started to go away and the redness
  16. Hi, Just wondering if anyone has any experience of using heat pads whilst taking accutane? I'm talking about the kind of 'peel n stick' ones that heat up once they are exposed to air and you stick them on to your body. I tend to get shoulder / neck pain and they really help, but I'm a bit hesitant to use them once I start accutane, as I understand the skin can become a lot more sensitive. So.. reaching out - has anyone used them while on accutane? Or if you think it would be fine or a terrible
  17. Hello! So I am a 20 yr old female that has had acne for 7-8 years, its is fairly bad and is cystic. I FINALLY managed to get a referral to a dermatologist from my GP and booked an appointment for the 18th of June.. I am pretty upset that I have to wait that long as I really just want to clear my skin up already! So my question is how long does it take to get roaccutane once you see the derm? Do you get the prescription that day or do you have to have another appointment? Many thanks!!
  18. Hey guys, I've been lurking around the forum for months now and since I'll be starting my Roaccutane course today, thought it would make sense to log & share my experience and hopefully find a buddy or two A bit of background info (if anyone is interested): Didn't have much pimple or acne problems in my teen or early adult years (I'm 29 now), things started to went downhill from beginning of 2011. For some reason my face started to get much more oiler than usual and I’ll be consist
  19. hi, so I've been struggling with acne since I was about 13, but recently it has flared up as a result of the birth control pill that I started in late June-early July. I've been on 5 different medications that have all failed (duac, zineryt, differin, oxytetracycline and lymecycline), switched to a vegan diet in April and plus have tried every single over-the-counter method (like everyone). yet nothing is working! I exercise regularly (dancing and occasional running and gym) yet I still look

    Accutane

Hey, I have acne since January and i’ve been to the dermatologist, she told me that my Acne was moderate, she prescribed me a creme ( epiduo gel). She told me to take Tetralysal if i had no results after 2-3 months using epiduo. Now it’s almost 3 months, my Acne became almost severe. I wanna take accutane, I have a rendez-vous with a new dermatologist wednesday. I wanna ask him accutane but I don’t know if he will prescribed me if because I never took antibiotics. I know my brother took it, he
  21. Just an early warning, please excuse any misspelling or minor grammatical errors. English isn't my native tounge and this post is written in a emotional tired induced frenzy. Hey everyone, I've been keeping a watch on this forum from time to time checking threads for possible solutions to acne outbreaks and just to find some comfort in knowing that I'm not alone one out there who knows the struggle. I'm at the age of 21, male and have been in warfare with acne since the age of 14. Since
  22. Hey Guys, My name is Taylah I'm 17 years old from Australia, and I've been suffering with acne since I was about 12 years old. I started to take medication around the age of 15 and have pretty much tried every single antibiotic out there. As well as using many different skin care products that never seem to do much at all. So, after years of being ashamed and depressed about how my skin looks I've decided that enough is enough and went to see a dermatologist and he said my last option would be
  23. Hello everyone! I'm unsure whether anyone will be interested in actually reading my log but if not, it'll be useful for me anyways! It's still early days, I'm only about a month and a half into my accutane course so I haven't logged since day one which sucks but better late than never, right?! I absolutely love this community because it has helped me so much in the past and I know what it's like to google things every 10-20 minutes and land yourself on this website reading if someone else is

    4th course of Roaccutane

Hi, im about to start my 4th course of Roaccutane. I was first prescribed it when I was 18, then when I was 21, 26, and now 8 months after my last course I'm being prescribed it again. Has anyone else had to have this many courses? ive heard of people being clear after their third course but I'm really disheartened that I'm having to take it again!!!! And also the fact it's not even been a year since I last took it. Unfortunately nothing else seems to be able get rid of it. Natalie
  25. Hello I am writing a research paper regarding Roaccutane for a nursing degree and was hoping I could get some data! As an acne sufferer I have always pondered going on Roaccutane but have never filled my prescription... It would be much appreciated if anyone who has taken Roaccutane before could answer 10 questions regarding their experience on the medication. The main answers I'm looking for are if you were happy with your results and if you noticed side effects.https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/X
