  1. Ok! So a brief history. I was a late bloomer with acne, it started getting bad my senior year of high school and peaked my freshman year of college. I had pimples all over my face, mostly on my cheeks, around my mouth, and my chin. They were those nice inflammed suckers with a white head you just want to pop. I assume the stress of going away to college had alot to do with it but I was a mess, and had a ton of scars. I started retina around november that year as a last ditch effort. My doctor ha
  2. I currently have no acne on my face. It's smooth and clear. Last week i had a little lump on my cheek but it went away in two days. Perhaps it's all better because of my new regimen: clean and clear BP 10% during the morning, regular Clean and Clear facewash at night followed by Rentin A. It dries my skin after each wash but then oil returns but i have to say, my face isn't as oily as before the 2nd course of accutane AND DEFINITELY not as oily as before as the first time i used accutane.
  3. It's been a little over 2 months now of Retin A and I'm really happy with how it's going now. My skin adjusted nicely and I'm looking forward to seeing it improve even more with continued use. I cover a lot more details in the video below if you are interested. Also, my diet has been very beneficial for my skin. Between my clean eating and using Retin A, my skin is in wonderful shape right now. Retin A Micro .1% - 8 Week Update: My Acne Story: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pz8
  4. It seems like my face is peeling a little bit less. I think it's been around 4 or 5 weeks since I started using Retin A Micro. I am using it 2x per week now (on the in between days I use nice moisturizers or tamanu oil). Just the other day, I noticed that the tone of my skin seems to be improving. It's hard to describe but it seems to be getting more even and maybe a touch of a glow to it. I'll take it! I am still getting random bumps here and there but nothing out of the ordinary. I don'
  5. I've been using retin-a 0.05% until 6 weeks ago, but nothing has changed. Still a lot of red marks (that is the most important problem to solve, because I have 90% red marks) and still some occasional pimples. I'm not using Benzoyl peroxide 5% anymore (it's the second weeks that I don't use it) because maybe it could prolong red marks. I still use Benzoyl peroxide 1% cleanser to wash my face the morning and the night. I apply the moisturizer once a day (bioderma's sebium hydra). I'm asking my
  6. hey guys! it's been so long since i updated. retin a really does make your skin smooth but it has made mine shiny (bc my skin is now thin) but whatever i really dont mind. still not clear though but my acne has been SIGNIFICANTLY reduced. and it f idk if it's because of teh vitamins im taking (d3,a,zinc,niacin) or really because of retin a. anyway will update u guys if anything better happens. and when ppl say that retin a makes pimples go away fast, it really is legit. it's like it hastens pim
  7. feeling really discouraged right now because i'm getting a lot of negative feedback from a lot of users that i should stop retin a as it didn't do anything for them. switched brands just last week and i don't know if i'm breaking out because of that or i dont even know anymore my skin is really ugly right now. pimples everywhere, bumpy texture on my forehead, clogged and large pores, pustules, hyperpigmentation, scars (thank God i only have like one deep scar that the retin a can kind

    16 Weeks

I missed 15 weeks, I did take picture that day but didn’t post on here. Not much change. I haven’t gotten any new bumps. I feel some spots have been fading and looking better.

    12 Weeks

Nothing new. The spots are still there, they dont want to fade. I feel the natural lightening outside makes them stand out more, but my daughter told me it looks the same in either light. How nice to hear.... lol NOT! I am approaching my TOM and seem to have spot brewing on my chin and one to the right side. I wish the spots would go away.
  10. I'm disappointed. I don't know what I should do to defeat acne. It's the 7th week of Isotrex (topical isotretinoin ) in combination to Benzoyl Peroxide 10% (that I use in the morning).. I have been fighting with acne since September 2012. Now I'm annoyed. I still have breakouts , I still have red marks and red inflamed pimples and now breakouts are just happening also on the other part of my face. I'm waiting, I have been using it EVERY DAY with costance. Why my acne is still worse?? I will bo
  11. Alright. Dan's products come in about a day or two, and I'm ready to start this. I've tried pretty much everything. I've wasted (or not wasted, because at least I know they don't work!) tons of money on products and procedures that have never made my acne go away. It's only been almost a year, but I know that I shouldn't have to wait that long to have clear skin again. I can do this. I just have to be persistent, and stop torturing my skin with new products and treatments. It's insa
  12. Finally finished one pack, have been experiencing some side effects. Dry skin, dry lips and sleepy. It shows I am on the right medication after all. My normal skincare routine has just gone out of the window, its waaaay too drying. The Body Shop tea tree range is good for oily skin but now I have dry, flaky skin. Still struggling to find the right one, in the UK it is rare to find Cetaphil here, which kinda sucks. I have a question, before accutane I tried Retin A and it broke me out so badly
  13. Ok guys .. so I'm on my second week of tretinoin and my skin just gets WORSE AND WORSE and I'm crying everyday and not going out anymore . I don't have much drying anymore . I have deep cysts with no head on my left cheek . Please help and comment if you think anything can help .. I'm desperate do you think I should go on Accutane ? Or continue the retin a cream ? Or try something else ? Thank you guys so much
  14. Heredity: "its in your genes" Sadly this is one area that we cannot do much about. Some of us have acne because one or both of our parents had acne. In my case my mother has flawless skin. My dad on the other hand hand acne through his teenage years and tends to still breakout when under stress. We can't fight heredity...or can we? We can't change what is programmed in our genes. What we can do is fight as heck to keep it under control. I wish there was a cure!! But when
  15. so I wanted to share with you what I paid over 500 dollars to get: a routine drawn up by a dermatologist that really worked. Then I am going to show you how I am working to tweek it for my newly uninsured unemployed little self. And before I go into all of this I just want to say wether you have insurance or not if over the counter stuff is not working please go to your general doctor, a dermatologist, even a free clinic if need be, it truely is worth it. I kick myself for the times I fell off
  16. Hello everyone,Let me start by giving a quick summary of my acne. At around 15 I started getting the occasional pimple her and there, but never anything too serious. However, about two and a half years ago when I was 17 years old my acne worsened dramatically. Within a matter of a couple months of this first big breakout, it got to the point where I felt the need to see a dermatologist. My derma prescribed me a mixture of Clindamycin Phosphate and Benzoyl Peroxide. This helped to initially calm t
  17. Hello all! I am new to the community but I have a few questions.. I have pretty light cystic acne that is hormonal caused by my IUD. I am 18 years old and have light skin. I have some scars but not a ton. Overall, my skin is pretty good but I get new cyst break outs about every 2 weeks and frequently have to get shots in them. I currently use AktiPak and have been on it for a few months. It has reduced my cyst breakouts to about 3 large cysts a month. Recently my dermatologist gave me Reti
  18. Hi guys! A year and a half ago I was on accutane and actually tried to do this skin picking challenge, but failed However, with prom, summer, and college right around the corner, I really need to solve this issue. I've come to the conclusion I need to get to the bottom of what is actually causing my compulsive skin picking in order to fix the issue. Starting tomorrow, April 24, I'm going to keep a daily log on here of my journey through this. I was thinking of going to see my school psychiatris
  19. From the album: Ziana, Solodyn, Aczone. (& OCPs)

Like I mentioned before, my break-outs were calmed down before I started therapy-- I was just suffering with the hyperpigmentation aftermath from the break-out-of-the-century. So, these new break-outs this week are a bit unusual. It leads me to think that it is part of the initial "purging." I really hope so because it hasn't been terrible. However, if you notice in the long picture, I started to get some tiny white pustules on my chest. I don't have body acne, and this is certainly not acn
  20. From the album: 2013

Okay this picture I believe was almost 2 months of using retin A 0.05% and minoclycline. A little improvement as you can see I only have one active white head, a big one unfortunately, and the redness and scars are just barely starting to fade.
  21. Hey Everyone, I am 23 years old and have been on Retin - A Micro since the start of September (4 mths). I have prior history with Accutane, which I feel worked somewhat well, but not nearly as well as expected. I am honestly so fed up. I thought at 23 years old, with mild but consistent acne (which is the worse due to the psychological effects.. like how is it possible I *always* have at least one or two zits, they clear up, then I get another one or two!?, like why doesn't it all come a
  22. I was on retin a for 4 months and all it did was smooth my skin. At first I got it for whiteheads. During my 4th week I purged then the whiteheads now became red marks. This crap doesn't fade red marks and I am very depressed bc now my face is worse than before. My acne was mild now its severe. I was aware of the intial breakout which occurred week 6 then cleared week 8. It is now week 18 and it's still the same but even worse. Skin is filled with more whiteheads and left over red marks just my
  23. My current regimen: proactive 3 step formula in the morning and then I moisturizer with cetaphil derma control with SPF 30. at nigth I keep it simple with a cetaphil gentle face wash ( no moisturizer because my skin doesn't get too dry) then I apply tretinoid cream Rigth before bed. I've been on this routine for about 4 or 5 months and it's been working fair, can't complain, but I still get breakouts every now and then consisting of the kinda deep pimples that get inflamed and I have to apply a
  24. I've been using Differin .3 and .1 for a year now. I know that Differin still works for me because I've gone off it for a week before and my skin got worse. But I feel like it's less effective then it was in the beginning. Has anyone else experienced this? Did you try switching to Retin A or Tazorac? I know they're supposed to be stronger so I thought that could help. I've tried EVERYTHING else! Including Aha and/or Bha in the AM as well as Finacea, etc. My acne is mild and non-hormonal-
