  1. Hello all. I've never had cause to come on the rosacea and facial redness part of the forum before but unfortunately this has been a real issue for me recently; mainly intense, unpredictable flushing that comes with blotchy red patches and broken veins and is particularly brought on by heat. My dermatologist recommended trying a green tinted moisturiser to disguise it and after much research into ingredients (because I'm still really prone to breakouts and terrified of trying new products on my
  2. i'm a 15 y/o girl and i've been on accutane now for two months. my first dose was 40mg a day, but last month my derm upped it to 60mg. i've heard this is a pretty high dose (i weigh 125 pounds). my symptoms have been really bad. i'm fair and i regularly struggle from facial redness but the accutane has made it even worse. every day when i don't wear makeup i get asked if i was outside and if i'm sunburnt. my dryness has been really bad too, which makes the makeup i apply to combat my redness loo
  3. What angers me most about acne is all the missed opportunities it caused me to have during my teen years that I will never get back. I had no friends and never did anything exciting as a teen because I lived in isolation not by choice. I'm 21 now and have pretty much clear skin and I feel like I'm years behind everyone else because it socially stunted me and it's hard to start a social life from scratch as you get older.
  4. Hi All, I have went thru two subcision treatments and two TCA cross treatments. The second treatments was 4 months after the first and it has been about 6 months since my last treatment. While i have noticed some results, the scarring on left temple which are mostly icepicks have not seen too much improvement imo. I have micro needled three times with the derminatior. Do you guys think if i keep microneedling, the ice picks will improve? I really dont want to do any more TCA or subcision ca
  5. Hi, I had a smallish pustule on my chin last week, I stupidly popped it too early and it swelled to a phenomenal size. It scabbed over, the inflammation went down gradually, and I left the scab to fall off by itself to reveal a head underneath. I went and popped it easily yet it swelled again, and two days later it is still the same size and is even more red - inflammation from popping a pimple too early has never lasted this long in the past for me, so I am really panicking that this will go
  6. Okay so, I've been scouring the internet trying to find accounts of anyone who's experienced something similar as a side effect of spironolactone and come up with zilch, so I thought where better to ask than here! I know a lot of people here take this medication so I'm really hoping one or other of you can help shed some light on the situation for me. So basically the spironolactone seems to be causing me to get hot flushing, but only on my head/face, the rest of me stays cold. This makes my s
  7. I can't even find the strength to go to college anymore. I have to make my whole family switch tables at a restaurant just so we don't get direct light over our heads that emphasizes every single one of the thousand pimples that I have, and I have to face the ground every time there's sunlight. Everything either hurts or itches or both, everything is red, and people are so rude, they can't even look me in the eye, their sight always wanders around my face. Everyone that meets me thinks they have
  8. Does 'no washing' cure acne? About a year ago, I had really good skin, it was clear, bright and smooth, but I ended up breaking out horribly for some reason. I went to the dermatologist and she pretty much said "Oh, it's okay, it will go away." and gave me doxycycline to take. Well, that was just the beginning of my acne.... I've been going through months of trying to find the perfect cleanser, toner, moisturizer, etc to cure my acne, but if you notice, if you ask the people with the clearest
  9. So I've been using Differin Gel 0.1% since January 1st until now (2 full months). At the beginning my skin was getting better and smoother and I'd like to think that it still is, even with my menstrual cycle which brings new pimples and breakouts on my face. Anyways, I haven't noticed any severe side effects such as irritation but I have experienced some dryness and a lot facial redness. First I thought it was just my cleanser; so I tried 3 different ones with no positive result. Then it dawned
  10. What is the best way to treat redness and scarring while using the regimen. I am about to reach my 8th week on the regimen and have seen my skin slowly improve so I plan to continue to do this treatment. I do have a lot of redness on my cheeks as well as scarring I would like to treat as well. What is the best thing to use that wont interfere with the regimen?
  11. It's been just over a month and a half on Accutane. I'm on 40mg once daily. My skin had an initial breakout when I first started that was really bad but only lasted about a week. Once my skin healed from that it was nearly flawless besides scarring and hyperpigmentation. Then once again my skin broke out last week, assumably from my period, and it's slowly starting to heal up now. I've also gotten a few closed comedones (?) their like little headless pimples on my cheeks. They aren't too bad but
  12. Hi everyone, I started using Differin .1% about five or six months ago. I had moderate acne that always got much worse in the winter, and Differin has done a lot to clear up my acne. However, the irritation on my forehead is killing me. Every other part of my face can handle Differin just fine, but literally every week, my forehead will go berserk and become red, blotchy, and itchy. Originally, I applied Differin every night. After my acne cleared up, I thought it would be a good idea to app
  13. Hi everyone, I've had this red patch next to my nose for as long as I can remember. There is also a spot on my nose that isn't in the picture. I'm honestly not sure what it even is or how to treat it. I've tried derma rolling, aha/bha gel, and other minor solutions but nothing seems to be working :-/ maybe someone else on here is going through the same thing or already went through it and knows what to do. It'd be awesome if anyone can help me out! Thank you!
  14. The last couple of days I have come to the conclusion that I will be Forever Alone forever. I'm too late in the dating game and will never marry and barely have a social life all thanks to acne and some other personal issues I had when I was younger. Now I'm just trying to figure out how to accept this and be content while seeing happy clear skinned people everywhere. Some of us are just cursed.
  15. From the album: Hannah

Hopefully, I'll be able to post a better looking picture in a couple of months
  16. From the album: Day 1 skin photos

my nose! as you can see I have lots of these minor pimple bumps on my nose causing my nose to look uneven :'( well I tried to take a photo of the whitehead on my nose but it didn't show up oh well ahah!
  17. From the album: Week 6

Popped some stuff that was starting to form on this side. A little sad about that, but swelling is down and the rest is healing.
  18. From the album: Week 5

Seriously, I don't know what's wrong with this side. Still, it's on its way. The biggest issue is that there's a cluster of 3-4 bumps (that giant red blotch) under my skin, and I have no idea what they're doing or why they're there. Could be hormonal (new birth control), could be from popping last week, no idea. The rest is PIH.
  19. From the album: Week 5

Again, hyperpigmentation. Some whiteheads on forehead.
  20. So my skin is VERY different from when I started accutane. For the past 2 weeks I have been moved up my dosage. RECAP-- (If you're new--read my other posts) -30 mg for 2 weeks -60 mg for 1.5 weeks--too much too soon--BAD Initial Breakout -30 mg odd days, 60 mg even days for 1.5 weeks ***60 mg every day for the past 2 weeks Moving Up Doses Had SOME Side Effects: ((Went from 30 on odd days to 60 on even days)) to 60mg every day. ***DO NOT FREAK OUT FROM THIS LIST--the dryness
  21. From the album: My Skin

Hey... My skin is looking pretty frickin' good lol. I've been sleeping more these last few days (even going as far as to take naps during the day) & drinking more water. I stopped taking evening primrose oil; it didn't seem to agree with my skin as far as I could tell, but it could've been something else. Right now I'm sticking to Beta Carotene, & added a collagen pill last night. I'm also washing off my makeup again before bed. Good results compared to my last pic. I'm happy.
