  1. Hey everyone, I know ive posted about this before but I’m getting desperate for some solutions/ feedback. I’ve been off accutane for what’ll be 3 months here on April 4. My cheeks and nose are always at least pink/ red. I also flush probably about once a day in which my cheeks turn a dark red/purple. My face was never red and I definitely never flushed prior to accutane. I played a lot of sports and could play 3 baseball games in the middle of summer and keep a normal skin tone the entire time.
  2. About a month ago I went to get a facial at a salon. They did a TERRIBLE job to say the least. I’ve always had pimples now and then come and go but NEVER an acne issue and never something like this before. Ever since the painful facial my skin has been reacting in new pustules every single day on my cheeks, chin, and forehead. I’ve never experienced this and it just keeps coming daily and doesn’t go away. What do I do? I’m so desperate I’ve been crying because I feel hopeless and like my skin wi
  3. Hello! I had a nasty zit a couple days ago which I popped before it was ready. Then trying to fix the issue yesterday I tried picking at it just a bit, which of course made it much worse. I have been using polysporin triple and Lamaisl as a treatment so far but no improvements. Really need some help guys!! I have attached photos of the progression. Any tips or tricks are welcomed. Thank you!!
  4. Hi im wondering if anyone can help me, I finished my isotretinoin course around 3 months ago and I'm still stuck with red marks from past breakouts, I still get one or two actives every so often but nothing to what it once was. im need some advice on what to do for the pie/pih I'm currently dealing with, I have been using some zinc and niacinamide serum along with some vitamin c but it's not really doing much. I'll attach some photos if I can, they look quite red as I've just showered
  5. I am on day 40 of Accutane, 40MG once a day and about a week ago I noticed how red and blotchy my skin is. I moisturize twice a day and rarely step out in the sun. It’s gotten considerably worse over the passed week. Is this normal, should I follow up with my derm. Advice anyone please!
  6. I'm new here, but i'm in desperate need of advice, and I just need to speak out about my experience suffering from acne. See, like alot of you, i suffered with severe cystic acne. I lived with it for a year, and i had to go on Accutane to get rid of it, however it seems that the deep scarring and redness that results from such severe cases has barely changed my situation. Although many of you have also suffered from severe acne, I feel that after reading some threads on how acne has affected p
  7. I've been taking Accutane (Myorisan) for about month and a half, 40mg x2. Everything seemed to be working well other than dry skin and lips but about 5 days ago my neck suddenly began to itch so I scratched it, but it didn't stop I woke up the next morning and my entire right side of neck was red and swollen a bit. I thought maybe it's just another side effect and put on OTC anti itch cream. But the itchiness spread and it went upto my face and made my face red, swollen and sting. Then it
  8. I have a red/pink mark from a cystic pimple above my lip which resolved about 3 months ago. The color of the "scar", or PIE as I think it is, is about the same color as my lip. There is a small indented scar near where the center of the pimple used to be, but I'm most concerned about the redness surrounding that area, which is quite visible in some lighting, especially when I am smiling. I have been reading a ton online about PIE and options for treatment, and I'm expecting that this will im
  9. stuff i've learnt about acne and some of my thoughts regarding the subject. -researching acne is 100% important when trying to "cure" yourself. there is different types of acne. all have specific treatments. (some skin problems are not even acne) - it important to educate yourself on post acne marks & acne scars + how to treat them. it is easy to mistake post acne/ skin damage for active acne. -sodium lauryl sulfate (aka "SLS" for short) is an ingredient in most acne soaps but shoul
  10. (last paragraph sums up everything if you don't want to read it all) i already have a problem with picking at my skin unintentionally, and 2 days ago i tried taking a bobby pin and using it to pop my black heads, my skin was clear besides a few pimples and black heads on my nose. so i took the bobby pin and all i know was that i started popping them at 4am and ended at 3pm (a long time), and my skin was really red and my pores were huge, which i'm guessing is from me scraping at my skin to get
  11. For example when I was in high school I wanted to kill everyone who bullied me for it. I also use to punch and break things because of how it wrecked my life. Now a few years later I still have violent thoughts in general because of it and constant anger.
  12. First off, I'm a 23 y/o Male with Combination/Sensitive/Acne Prone Skin. I've been using Dans 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide for just over a month and a half, once a day (at night) and it really works. It cleared my Acne like nothing within 4 days and within the first 2 weeks of using it, i only encountered one pimple that disappeared in 2 days and after that, not a single one. But since Thursday night (which is 2 days from now) I've run in to a problem where certain areas on my face like the right sid
  13. Hello all. I've never had cause to come on the rosacea and facial redness part of the forum before but unfortunately this has been a real issue for me recently; mainly intense, unpredictable flushing that comes with blotchy red patches and broken veins and is particularly brought on by heat. My dermatologist recommended trying a green tinted moisturiser to disguise it and after much research into ingredients (because I'm still really prone to breakouts and terrified of trying new products on my
  14. i'm a 15 y/o girl and i've been on accutane now for two months. my first dose was 40mg a day, but last month my derm upped it to 60mg. i've heard this is a pretty high dose (i weigh 125 pounds). my symptoms have been really bad. i'm fair and i regularly struggle from facial redness but the accutane has made it even worse. every day when i don't wear makeup i get asked if i was outside and if i'm sunburnt. my dryness has been really bad too, which makes the makeup i apply to combat my redness loo
  15. What angers me most about acne is all the missed opportunities it caused me to have during my teen years that I will never get back. I had no friends and never did anything exciting as a teen because I lived in isolation not by choice. I'm 21 now and have pretty much clear skin and I feel like I'm years behind everyone else because it socially stunted me and it's hard to start a social life from scratch as you get older.
  16. Hi All, I have went thru two subcision treatments and two TCA cross treatments. The second treatments was 4 months after the first and it has been about 6 months since my last treatment. While i have noticed some results, the scarring on left temple which are mostly icepicks have not seen too much improvement imo. I have micro needled three times with the derminatior. Do you guys think if i keep microneedling, the ice picks will improve? I really dont want to do any more TCA or subcision ca
  17. Hi, I had a smallish pustule on my chin last week, I stupidly popped it too early and it swelled to a phenomenal size. It scabbed over, the inflammation went down gradually, and I left the scab to fall off by itself to reveal a head underneath. I went and popped it easily yet it swelled again, and two days later it is still the same size and is even more red - inflammation from popping a pimple too early has never lasted this long in the past for me, so I am really panicking that this will go
  18. Okay so, I've been scouring the internet trying to find accounts of anyone who's experienced something similar as a side effect of spironolactone and come up with zilch, so I thought where better to ask than here! I know a lot of people here take this medication so I'm really hoping one or other of you can help shed some light on the situation for me. So basically the spironolactone seems to be causing me to get hot flushing, but only on my head/face, the rest of me stays cold. This makes my s
  19. I can't even find the strength to go to college anymore. I have to make my whole family switch tables at a restaurant just so we don't get direct light over our heads that emphasizes every single one of the thousand pimples that I have, and I have to face the ground every time there's sunlight. Everything either hurts or itches or both, everything is red, and people are so rude, they can't even look me in the eye, their sight always wanders around my face. Everyone that meets me thinks they have
  20. Does 'no washing' cure acne? About a year ago, I had really good skin, it was clear, bright and smooth, but I ended up breaking out horribly for some reason. I went to the dermatologist and she pretty much said "Oh, it's okay, it will go away." and gave me doxycycline to take. Well, that was just the beginning of my acne.... I've been going through months of trying to find the perfect cleanser, toner, moisturizer, etc to cure my acne, but if you notice, if you ask the people with the clearest
  21. So I've been using Differin Gel 0.1% since January 1st until now (2 full months). At the beginning my skin was getting better and smoother and I'd like to think that it still is, even with my menstrual cycle which brings new pimples and breakouts on my face. Anyways, I haven't noticed any severe side effects such as irritation but I have experienced some dryness and a lot facial redness. First I thought it was just my cleanser; so I tried 3 different ones with no positive result. Then it dawned
  22. What is the best way to treat redness and scarring while using the regimen. I am about to reach my 8th week on the regimen and have seen my skin slowly improve so I plan to continue to do this treatment. I do have a lot of redness on my cheeks as well as scarring I would like to treat as well. What is the best thing to use that wont interfere with the regimen?
  23. It's been just over a month and a half on Accutane. I'm on 40mg once daily. My skin had an initial breakout when I first started that was really bad but only lasted about a week. Once my skin healed from that it was nearly flawless besides scarring and hyperpigmentation. Then once again my skin broke out last week, assumably from my period, and it's slowly starting to heal up now. I've also gotten a few closed comedones (?) their like little headless pimples on my cheeks. They aren't too bad but
  24. Hi everyone, I started using Differin .1% about five or six months ago. I had moderate acne that always got much worse in the winter, and Differin has done a lot to clear up my acne. However, the irritation on my forehead is killing me. Every other part of my face can handle Differin just fine, but literally every week, my forehead will go berserk and become red, blotchy, and itchy. Originally, I applied Differin every night. After my acne cleared up, I thought it would be a good idea to app
  25. Hi everyone, I've had this red patch next to my nose for as long as I can remember. There is also a spot on my nose that isn't in the picture. I'm honestly not sure what it even is or how to treat it. I've tried derma rolling, aha/bha gel, and other minor solutions but nothing seems to be working :-/ maybe someone else on here is going through the same thing or already went through it and knows what to do. It'd be awesome if anyone can help me out! Thank you!
