  1. So I had a big cyst and it left a hole that has been slooooowly healing. I'm about 5 or 6 weeks into healing now. There is still redness and even a little sensitivity at the center (it is closed)...the indentation is gradually rising, but I'm not sure if it's going to make it all the way (?). Staring "atrophy" right in the face. No pun intended... In the case it doesn't and I'm left with some sort of rolling indentation, I've been reading up on my options to treat. I've seen a number of posts
  2. Hi everyone, I'm a long-time reader but first time poster at acne.org. Since I was 12, I've had on and off acne troubles that were completely exacerbated when I hit college. Since then, I have tried a wide range of treatments including Accutane that helped with my cystic acne but was not effective on the mess of small bumps that have spread out from my forehead and cheeks. About 11 days ago, I had a Levulan blue light treatment at a skin care clinic. They left it on for 6 hours and I
  3. Hi gang! My background: Lurker for close to 10 years, almost as long as I have had acne. I am a mid-20s college student raising a sibling. In other words, I have no time. I want to look presentable, though. This is why clearing my skin naturally is so important to me. I also don't wear makeup.. so it's magnifies the issue. I'm a hard INTJ, if you dig MBTI. That means I'm typically anxious and tense, which I'm sure is a big part of my acne. BCP (Yasmin) cleared my skin in my teens. Went
  4. Hello! I was wondering if any of you have tried red light therapy for superficial scarring. I did a treatment yesterday as part of a facial, along with blue light and high frequency, and today my skin looks more plump and my scars are barely noticeable under makeup. I tried portable red lights before, but this time the aesthetician had me lay under the red light for 15 minutes (it seemed very strong, I had to put goggles on), after 15 minutes under a blue light that covered my entire face. Ev
  5. Decided to finally share my journey today as I have been obsessively reading forums, reviews and blogs for the past few months as I began my battle to clear my hormonal acne. Back story- Started breaking out at 16, hormone related and never went to a derm. Tried to clear it with Birth Control, during college the stress, bad eating, alcohol and no sleep didn't help at all. Tough years as I was an extremely social person before acne took over my day to day thoughts. It's so heart breaking h
  6. Hey everyone so I have very mild acne. It's mainly on my chin. Honestly it's really not a big deal but I hate it. I want my skin to be clear!! I hate the occasional breakouts :/ My derm recommended PDT. However, I discovered that blue light effects are temporary in terms of oil production? Would this be true with my very mild acne? I also heard that red light is really what permanently kills the oil glands, bbut I don't want to age prematurely... However, wouldn't 1 session be just en
