  1. Has anyone successfully quit Proactiv or another product that contains benzoyl peroxide WITHOUT breaking out badly? I'm 24 and I've been using Proactiv since I was 14. I feel my skin is no longer as acne prone as it was when I was a teen, but my skin seems to be addicted to it, specifically the benzoyl peroxide. I tried to quit Proactiv when I was 17. I was warned that many users suffer major breakouts when they first quit, so I stopped using it. Well, I broke out...HORRIBLY. For months. It
  2. I feel like I'm sabotaging my own skin and am considering quitting all my acne products. I get some hormonal acne but I feel like what I dislike about my skin more is that it seems to be irritated all the time with constant fresh zits. I'm afraid my skin will react badly if I quit using all my products: Morning: Proactive Step 1 Proactive Step 2 Aczone Moisturelle Moisturizer Bareminerals makeup primer bare minerals foundation-beamish remedy Night: proactive steps 1 and 2 epiduo fort
  3. Hi everyone, I've been on the regimen for almost exactly a year...I started it because about 6 months post-accutane (I was on the lowest dosage) I got ONE cystic pimple and a couple of whiteheads. I went to a general clinic in the UK (the country where I go to university), because dermatologists are expensive, and was told to try a benzoyl peroxide cream. Not knowing how to use it I experienced severe dryness and burning...which brought me to the acne.org website! Started the regimen, follow
  4. I've been off the regimen for several months now, and my skin is still discolored. It's like, the skin around my eyes is pale and the rest of my face is tan looking. All I've been doing is washing my face with cetaphil gentle skin cleanser. Is this because of the cleanser, or the months and months I was putting BP on my face? Will it ever go away? I'd like to keep using the cleanser because its helped keep me relatively clear...
  5. *If you do not want to read all my piffling , just read this: I am your average 17 year old male, with mild acne, bright white skin, would do anything for my acne. The regimen is definitely NOT for me ! wish someone had written that for me before I wasted my time like that. I have started the regimen 6 weeks (minus 2 days;) ago, and i have decided to quit. If you have mild acne like me , I mean yeah pimples all over but no cystic and not severe i guess, and white sensitive skin, this regime
  6. What was once my best friend is now my enemy. In the beginning, benzoyl peroxide helped me prevent acne and get rid of the current acne that I had. Eventually, it caused my skin to become dry and oily at the same time. It happened so gradually that I didn't realize that benzoyl peroxide was ruining my skin. I started using benzoyl peroxide religiously my sophomore year. There were a few times when I would use it on and off, but altogether, I used benzoyl peroxide for 3 years. At first my ski
  7. Hi, guys so this is my story im 16 so obviously my acne is hormonal and sadly my moms side has it too
  8. Let this be the beginning of my birth control free life. Been takin' a yaz generic for four years. Basically completely cleared my skin up. I only get small break outs around my period or if I have a lot of sugar. Before birth control I had mostly moderate but at times severe acne since I started puberty. I was 20 when I started it and now I'm 24. I'm trying to be more health conscious overall so I'd like to stop taking it and solve my acne naturally. I've heard acne gets a lot worse afte
  9. Hey, guys. It's been quite a long while since I last posted here, so I figured I should update you all with my progress. After a year of being on the Regimen, I quit. The side effects were just too much and I wasn't enjoying looking older than I really was (and appearing constantly sunburnt). I quit the Regimen in January 2012 and here I am now. 11 months later. It's been very hard indeed. I broke out severely a few months after quitting. The breakout I suffered did not respond to any treatm
  10. Hi everyone. My first post here and I'm desperate to understand what is going on. I'm a 37 year old male. I almost always used to have some acne at the cheekbones but nothing serious at all, and whatever little there was, was cleared by topical salicylic acid medications. I used to drink about 300 ml of vodka everyday for the past 5-6 years. Last year, in August, 2016, I went into rehab and quit drinking completely. That is when my troubles began; I started to have major acne breakout at the fo
