  1. So one frustrating night I stayed up on my phone and wrote this. It's like part rant and part rap. I don't know exactly what I was thinking. I don't even care if anyone likes it or not. I just felt like it belonged here WARNING: bad language, i don't know if any of you care about that. I don't usually swear. It's just when i get talking about acne, yeah, that kinda makes me angry like nothing else. by the way: yeah, I have had someone tell me "why don't you just shave it off?" before. also

    Losing hope...week 3

Acne history: I had been using Proactiv for a good 8 years(biggest mistake of my life) when I started to notice my skin getting duller, little bumps started re-appearing, and my clothes and towels were getting bleached. These are things I guess I had ignored because the product was "working". I slowly stopped using Proactiv and then starting using an all natural line - that's when all hell broke loose. My face exploded and continued to get worse. I tried a few other natural methods and just got
  3. Okay so I'm 14 and yeah... I'm a girl. A couple months ago I went on proavtiv and it cleared my skin for like a week then it started to come back. I did some research and decided to do the whole no wash caveman thing and that really didn't do anything besides make my face extremly flaky. I did the Ocm for about a week after that and it made my skin worse. Now I'm back on proactiv and its not helping much. Its making new zits shrink faster but thats about it. My sister has some retin-a that we go
  4. I've been using Priactiv for 7 years and it has kept me flawless but recently It's seemed to be losing its effectiveness. Is it worth trying Priactiv+?
  5. I've been fighting acne for 4 years now. I started on Proactiv like everybody else, and it worked- for 9 months. Then my acne got progressively worse and worse. My derm put me on differin (did nothing), benzoil peroxide products (nada), and tazorac. I stuck with taz for about a year. It didn't seem to help, but didn't seem to hurt it either. I used to use benzaclin to spot treat, and it worked when I was younger, before any of this major breakout stuff happened. I read about holistic treatmen
  6. Hello! I would like some advice, but first a little back story. Up until 3 months ago I've been a Proactiv user for nearly 10 years and it kept my skin looking great. I washed my face twice a day because if I don't my face gets full of blackheads, random pimples and just basically breaks out with mild acne. Anyway, I decided to try The Regimen because Proactiv hasn't been keeping my skin as clear as it used to be. Today is Day 5 of The Regimen and my skin looks really nice...there is no
  7. I have been on the proactiv+ system for 2 weeks now and i am slowly seeing results which is making me happy, but whats not making me happy is my skin is becoming dry and sometimes flaky where my breakouts are. Its especially annoying whenever i try to apply makeup and all it does it flake and cause my makeup to cling to all the dry spots, i dont know what to do since ive always had oily skin, never dry. I am using the proactiv oil-free moisturizer day and night but im just not sure if thats enou
  8. From the album: Week One / Day 3

WEEK ONE / DAY THREE (I was using Proactiv until it ran out and then I switched to the Regimen because Proactiv was too harsh on my skin.) My skin become even more dry. I was not using a moisturizer, as the Proactiv kit does not provide one. This made my skin extremely irritated and flakey. I noticed that my skin was "hardening", which can happen when you use Benzol-Peroxide, and it was becoming even darker in color. I noticed areas that were inflamed were no longer, however,

    My Story So Far

I probably won't post in this blog very much, but I wanted to share my journey with everyone and have my whole story in one place so people know where i'm coming from. My battle with acne started years ago, probably when I was 11 or 12. I hit puberty early (I was 9) so I got to go through the awkward phase even sooner than most. Yay! I started out with the typical solutions to acne- when you're 11, mom says 'Just wash your face and you'll grow out of it soon enough'. When it became apparent
  10. Hello everybody. I am a 20 year old female who has been scourering the Internet for years searching for answers to my acne problem. After all these years, I am finally ready to make my first post. I am going to tell you my story and share with you how I have finally gotten my skin to be clear and smooth (for the most part!) It all started when I was in eighth grade. I had the most beautiful skin you have ever seen. I'm serious. But I suffered from OCD and I craved regiments and routines in my
  11. From the album: Week Two

WEEK TWO Large cystic breakouts were diminishing. Flakiness and dryness continued. Hyper-pigmentation was still an issue. New breakouts were still forming, but slower. Still slow to heal. Redness still around mouth and chin. Whiteheads still occasionally forming on the jaw line and under chin.

WEEK ONE (I was using Proactiv until it ran out and then I switched to the Regimen because Proactiv was too harsh on my skin.) I decided to try Proactiv in February, as it had worked for me in my younger years. After starting Proactiv, my skin was very blotchy and irritated. I noticed that my skin began to flake, and where I had put the Benzol-Peroxide, my skin was "hardening" and becoming darker. This was very aggravating as I have fair skin, and my neck had an obvious line of darker skin, to

    Epiduo Day 41

    From the album: Epiduo

First Image is 2 months into proactiv in February/March (skin looks super angry, but clearing). I eventually gave up on Proactiv and broke out even worse. The second Image is 41 days into Epiduo, been having some breakouts and have some hyperpigmentation, had a decent 3 week stint and but had a minor breakout this week which has cleared up. Crossing my fingers!
  18. Hi, so I'm currently in the process of decluttering some of my makeup and skin care products that I don't use anymore and I stumbled upon some Proactiv toner I have that has no expiration date on it. I threw away all of my leftover Proactiv benzoyl peroxide from a few years ago as it was expired and therefore wouldn't be as effective but yeah... I have no clue what the expiration date on the toner is. Any of you guys know how long it can keep for approximately?
  19. Hello I am 25, have had acne since I was 13. When I was a teenager, my acne was moderate. In the past I have tried a lot of commercial products such as neutrogena, clearasil, clean and clear, oxy, to name a few. When I was about 19 started using Proactiv. It helped me tremendously, but after about a year it started to get worse. Up until January 2013, I continued to use Proactiv because it helped heal my acne much faster than anything else. It didn't stop acne from coming, but it helped. The
  20. Has anyone successfully quit Proactiv or another product that contains benzoyl peroxide WITHOUT breaking out badly? I'm 24 and I've been using Proactiv since I was 14. I feel my skin is no longer as acne prone as it was when I was a teen, but my skin seems to be addicted to it, specifically the benzoyl peroxide. I tried to quit Proactiv when I was 17. I was warned that many users suffer major breakouts when they first quit, so I stopped using it. Well, I broke out...HORRIBLY. For months. It

    Proactiv Plus

I am 16 years old and i started my proactiv plus journey february 12, 2014. I thankfully never suffered through severe acne throughout my life. I usually got occasional pimples which started when i entered high school, which is normal for any teenage girl. Throughout my freshman and sophomore year in high school, my skin was normal, again had occasional pimples like any other teen, and it went away in a few days/weeks. (Also, i personally noticed i never had any breakouts or any acne during

WEEK FOUR (I was using Proactiv until it ran out and then I switched to the Regimen because Proactiv was too harsh on my skin.) I saw a lot of improvement from when I began Proactiv. I still had a little bit of redness around my chin and mouth, although it looked more pink and flushed, as opposed to redness and irritaiton. Skin was still dry, but not very flaky. Hyper pigmentation was still an issue, as acne marks were still slow to fade away. New breakouts were happening with more days i
  23. Hello all, I'm new to this site and thought I would give you a little background. I'm 26, turning 27 this month and have been suffering from acne for almost a year. It's taken a huge emotional toll on my life and I am missing school and social functions because of it. I have been creeping the boards for awhile and finally decided to join in hopes of getting some more personal advice from the acne.org members. I don't have a family doctor and have been pretty much dealing with this on my own
  24. Background: I'm a freshman in college. I've never had horrible acne, just moderate pimples showing up here and there, but it's gotten worse in the last two months. I have Keratosis Pilaris on my cheeks and so acne doesn't show up there, just on my forehead and chin. I've been using the Olay Pro-X brush for about a month now, and I don't think it's making my skin any worse, but it's certainly not making it better. One thing I'm beginning to suspect that is causing acne is the baby powder I us

    Facial Redness

I'm 15 and I use proactiv solution morning and night. After using it, I put on Active Hydrating Beauty Fluid Lotion- Original (OLAY) to help loosen up my face because proactiv seems to make it tight. I avoid fast food and other greasy type foods so that is not the cause. Anyways, my forehead, sideburn area, and upper lip area are normal but the rest of my face is really red all the time. Any help or tips? Thanks
