  1. I am completely lost. My acne is absolutely killing me. None are cystic, but my cheeks and chin are covered in skin colour, and red pimples. I've also recently developed a patch around 1.5 cm in width, which is red, dry and hard, but is not painful. I'm not sure what it is. Also, I get a breakout the same day every week. I will wake up the next morning with whiteheads on my chin. I have sports on this day, but i don't sweat, and i can't recall touching my face more than i usually do, so i have
  2. Hello all, I am currently in my fourth week of taking spironolactone 50 mg once a day. I don't have severe acne. Just mild breakouts that are extremely annoying, so I was prescribed this medicine. However, I'm not seeing any improvement yet. My skin is just the same as it was when I started. I figured I'd be seeing some difference in my skin after four weeks. I'm considering asking my derm if I can bump up to 100 mg a day. Will this help? And also, will I get another initial breakout
  3. I've been using differin cream for about 17 weeks and I don't have an improvement. In fact I think it's made it worse. My skin always has at least 6 cysts on my right cheek and 1 or 2 on my left cheek. I get blackheads on my chin too. Also when I put on makeup to cover all the scars you'd think that all that would be shown on my cheeks then would just be the cysts and smoothness. That is not the case. Around the cysts and all along my cheeks are a bunch of tiny little bumps and uneven surface. M
  4. Hey guys, I'm 18 and I've had moderate acne for about 4 years now, I've tried every single topical and medication out there for my acne and the only thing that works slightly is BP, but my acne is getting worse by the day. I've come to the point in my life where I don't care what anyone thinks, I don't care if i haven't got 'cystic' acne or 'proper' acne, I just want it gone. Its effecting my life so much to where I don't feel like I can do anything any more. I get so upset and it just feels lik
  5. I don't have the worst acne in the world, i just have a lot of pimples (like 15-17). i have been using clean and clear 10% benzoil peroxide for a long time but didnt see much improvement. i went to the doctor a little over 2 weeks ago and he gave me .01% (yes i realize that is the lowest dosage) and an antibiotic called ERY-tab 500 mg (to my knowledge this is the highest dosage). is it ok to keep using the clean and clear wash? i feel like it helps a ton because my face gets super oily and greas
  6. Hi all, It's been a while since I posted on here but thought i'd not only update on my situation but I also have a few questions and would love some other's perspectives or experiences. In October 2012, I was signed off form my job in recruitment for a few weeks with anxiety and depression and it was around this time that my acne got particularly bad, and has been bad ever since. I ended up handing in my notice and giving up the job altogether. I moved home for a bit and left my flat in

  8. Hey everyone! I'm currently taking Claravis. (Accutane) 15, Male, 122lbs. I'm on day 48, 40 mg once a day, and I was just wondering if my side affects are bad or if I should be worried? I've had a head cold and I do have some sinus issues so I think they might go hand in hand with these side affects. My dermatologist told me that my liver, triglycerides, and cholesterol levels were perfect and looked as though my body wasn't even phasing the drug. But I'm experiencing side affects like b
  9. I'm having an issue with the iPledge program...my doctor never filled in my test results from the appointment and now it's saying that I need doctor confirmation before I can get anywhere with the prescription. There is a mix up somewhere and I don't know where, but the office is closed until Monday. I was wondering if it will be bad to miss 2, possibly 3, doses? I don't want to have to start all over! Help! Thank you! -Freaked Out
  10. I was wondering if anyone can shed some light on my random mild itching scalp that started after taking spironolactone. At first I thought it was due to stress, but it comes about very randomly and it doesn't seem stress related. I would wake up and my scalp would itch on one side, or the bottom half of my head. It comes and goes. My scalp isn't flaky, dry, or red. Side info: after spiro, my scalp is now normal and not oily the day after a hair wash. I think my hair thickness is pretty sim
  11. Have just been told that UK has almost no Skinoren in any pharmacies as manufacturer isn't sending it out and it could be months before we get any. I'm planning to buy some on the net in the meantime in case it is a while before I can get some on prescription again and my GP is hoping that he can prescribe me the next best thing. Will this be Finacea gel, do you think? I know they both have Azelaic acid in them but I thought that Finacea is mainly used for Rosacea, not acne?
  12. Hi, I was just wondering if anyone on these boards has had experience with Doxycycline and/or Epiduo. I just got a prescription from my dermatologist and was wondering how well it worked, what to expect, etc. I have technically severe acne, but not on the extreme end of severe. I usually have 1-2 cysts at a time and a good amount of pimples, especially on my chin. I think they're mostly hormonal. Also, I have moderate pimples and whiteheads on my upper back. Any advice is appreciated!
  13. Hey guys, Has anyone else been having the problem of 'manufacturing problems'? I went to the doctors a month ago to stock up on Acnecide cream which i've been using all year. It's a BP cream, worked amazingly as long as I didn't stop using it abruptly The doctor then prescribed me the cream but I went to collect it from my local chemist and BOOM. Apparently there's manufacturing problems, all BP creams are unavailable everywhere and won't be distributed again until next year. Has anyone else
  14. I need some counseling from other people who have been on ultra low dose Accutane. I am currently on 40mg twice a week - one 40mg pill on tuesday and one on friday. It's has been a little over a month since I started treatment and I haven't seen any evidence of the Accutane doing anything except for the occasionally dry lips. I was on a normal course of Accutane around 2 years ago but my acne came back, sadly. It was only after reading such amazing things about ultra low-dose treatments that

    From the album: Epiduo

A sequence of photos of my journey on Epiduo. First image was a really bad break out that left some terrible marks. It's what made me finally get help. I am just showing one cheek cause it's my worst side. My other cheek is about half as bad
  16. I want to try to incorporate the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel in to my pm routine but I’m not sure how because I use a prescription topical cream. Should I use it before Epiduo and let it dry? Here is my current routine: My current night routine: splash water on face 1. cleanse with Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser Splash off with water, pat dry skin but leave damp 2. Apply Epiduo 3. WAit 10 minutes 4. Apply Cerave Moisturizing Lotion
  17. A Bit About My Acne: I started getting mild acne at the age of 13; as I got older I started getting under the skin cysts and my acne became more moderate. I’m 20 now and my acne severity has lessened with the help of the pill and creams, although my skin is still not where I would like it to be. My First Dermatology Appointment: After a bad break out last month I begged my Doctor to refer me to a dermatologist. The waiting list in my area to see a dermatologist is 8 months, so I ended up
  18. Hey there, I went to my dermatology appointment today at Harley Street Dermatology Clinic. Very fancy I know! Anyway, my doctor was really great and she answered all my questions. I am still very unsure of the link between digestive system and skin but that is another blog for another day. So, she said I am doing all the right things using non-comedogenic moisturisers and cleansers (Cetaphil) and said to stay away from anything that could potentially irritate the skin so that includes any sc
  19. Week 1-3: So I started out like a lot of other people thinking that I could apply Epiduo twice a day and get quicker results and boy was I wrong. My face burned so badly and itched like crazy these first few weeks. I experienced TERRIBLE peeling and flaking which was highlighted by make up. But there was no way in HELL I was going out in public without make up to at least cover the redness. So after about a week and a half of applying the cream twice a day I went down to just at night and I was

  21. Hello all. I have just began taking Accutane (yesterday actually) and have found this site very helpful for advice and preparing myself for what is to come. A little bit about myself: female 23 years old acne began around 18 years old type of acne: moderate (and quite persistent) with occasional deep cysts have tried just about every antibiotic, cream, and wash available The plan is to update here throughout the treatment. For the time being, any past or present Accutane users have any tips or
  22. From the album: How I battled my acne..

Going into my teenage years/into puberty I never had acne, I only really had the occasional pimple which I still freaked out about because I always thought it was the end of the world. However at the start of 2012, it started to slowly form on my chin in which I totally freaked out and I started using so many products and trying everything on it which I didn't know at the time, was just making it worse. Gradually my acne just kept getting worse and worse and it started spreading to other parts o

    Day 41!

So im like really starting to clear up now. My skin is flaky and my lips are peeling and its gross because my friend actually said something about it to me. I use lots of lip balm too. I use a stereroid lip balm 3-4 times a week as directed by my dermatologist. It only seems to help when its actually on my lips. I only have a few very small zits on my face. There are alot of red marks though and they will take time to heal. I use the Olay Pro-X cleansing brush and I think it works better t
  24. I'm really confused because my derm put me on Accutane today and she registered me into iPledge and gave me the booklet and the ID cards and everything, but I'm not sure if I have to log into the iPledge program because all these posts say stuff about having to have your password emailed to you but I never got an email nor did my derm say anything about passwords or usernames, she just mentioned my ID cards and that she registered me... Do you only need a password to log on to if your a female a
