  1. I am going to my dermatologist tomorrow after using Clindamycin Phosphate Lotion for a few months with no success. I want a product that will not purge my skin as the Clindamycin has. I NEED to get rid of these bumps before I go camping in 2 months. My skin tone (though uneven to begin with) seems to be worse than ever before as well. I look like a heroin addict. My confidence is in the gutter. I'm in tears. I have lots of small bumps all along my jaw and cheeks now since using Clind
  2. Hey guys first time poster here. Just wondering if those that are following the regimen have forgone using their pprescription to follow the guide. If so should i start that? Me; I have severe body acne and severe face acne, I dont eat as healthily as I'd like to but im making the change. Also I have been on and off my medication which has probably just made it worse. I am on tetracycline and duac gel and have been for the past 2-3 years + and sometimes my spots are non exsistant but most
  3. Hello everyone. Basically my situation is this: I have grown up jumping around to a bunch of different dermatologists, and I've been prescribed just about every topical and antibiotic medication in the book. I always used to have pretty bad acne on my face, but I've gotten that cleared up except for the occasional pustule, and blackheads on my nose. My biggest problems are my chest, shoulders, neck, and back. These areas of my body still have pretty big and often times painful pustules and c
  4. I have just been prescribed 10mg Accutane for 3 months & Spironolactone (not sure how many mg's) as well and ongoing after I finish Accutane to control hirsutism/hormonal acne. Could anyone share their experiences on using both of these medications at the same time?
  5. I am compiling a list of doctors who prescribe spironolactone for acne. If you have received a spironolactone prescription, PLEASE share their name and the state/province they are located in. The only reason I was able to get spironolactone prescribed is because I happened to know someone already on it and went to their doctor. We really need to get the information out there so it is not such a struggle. If you don't want to publicly announce your doctor, PM me the doctor's name and loc
  6. I went to my doctor about my acne and he prescribed me with lymecycline capsules and acnecide 5% gel, I tried a gel called duac previously and it didn't seem to work very well, just wondering if the lymecycline capsules and acnecide gel will work any better? And if it has worked for anyone else?
  7. Hi all I know it’s tough dealing with acne, and so I’ve devised this makeup routine for anyone suffering from any forms of acne. It’s the best one in my opinion (I use these products and can tell you from experience they’re fantastic) HYPERPIGMENTED SKIN if you’re Asian like me you know how hard brown marks are to deal with. Luckily Caucasian skin deals with post inflammatory hyper pigmentation in half the time, and so if you’re dealing with red marks don’t fret! They’ll be gone in a year.
  8. I just came off accutane a few months ago and it worked wonders on my skin! But since then my eyes have stayed very dry and I've had trouble sleeping. Anyone else had this problem? Also, more importantly, my sister just got put on accutane and her acne really isn't that bad. he started her on 40 mg twice a day. She weighs maybe 130 lbs. Does that seem like a very high dosage to any of you?
  9. I would say that before I started seeing my Dermatologist, I had very mild but persistent acne. I had been using Clean and Clear Persa Gel-10 for a long time, and although it worked at first I think my skin was becoming used to it. My doctor put me on Epiduo, and she told me that if I really wanted my acne to go away fast she would prescribe me Solodyn. Of course I did want my acne to go away as fast as possible, so I took her up on her offer. Well my acne got worse. Like, a lot worse. I was
  10. I have enlarged pores between my eye and nose and some on my cheek, I was wondering if I use retin a micro .1% if it would help them? Thanks
  11. So today I was prescribed 0.05% Tretionin by my derm, but reading reviews everyone (almost everyone) says they got an initial breakout I don't want bad skin for new years and i'm going to be at the beach so it will definitely be 100% visible :/ Should I wait to start? How long did your initial breakout last??
  12. Hey all I was hoping I wouldn't have to be in this position again, but here I am I recently came off Accutane 40mg/day for 7 months. During the treatment I was clear around 3 or 4 months in, however 4 months post treatment I am staring to break out again and it appears to be getting worse. To be honest I think my dosage wasn't high enough, hence the early relapse. I understand that your skin may respond differently do topicals after a course of accutane. My options are: 1.) Beg

  14. I am 16 year old guy and ive been dealing with acne since i was 13 and its always been a problem for me to go out with my friends or even talk to girls since im so self-conscious about the fact that they'll look at me differently since I have acne. My dad had severe acne in his teen years too but he used accutane to get rid of his. I can say that I have moderate acne and coming from my dad, I am not interested in using accutane due to the severe side effects. I get pimples mostly on my cheeks, s
  15. Hey I just joined acne.org this morning so please don't shout at me if I do/say something wrong. Please someone help me, I am using a prescribed topical solution called Zineryt and also some products I bought from boots by Clinique, La Roche-Posay Effaclar and Freederm. I cleanse and tone my skin then apply zineryt to the affected areas at least once a day. I am also now vegan to see if that helps my skin (most of my acne is on my chin/lower portion of my face so is apparently hormonal, while I
  16. Hello everyone. I just wanted to start keeping track and hopefully get some feedback on my experience with Ziana. I'm a 25 yr old male and have had acne on and off since high school. In the past few months, it has taken a major turn and has become much worse than normal. I have mild/moderate acne consisted of closed red comedones across my forehead, a few small pimples on my cheeks, and about 10 across my jawline. Most are a mix between whiteheads, blackheads & cystic. I went to the de
  17. Hi everyone, I could really use your help... I've suffered from hormonal acne off and on for about 8 years now. The last 18 months constantly. I've tried everything I can think of by now and would love your opinions on what else I could try. I'd prefer keeping it fairly natural and avoid prescription medications though. Here's a brief hormonal history that might illustrate the problem: Because of my many problems with the pill, I've been totally off it for 18 months now. I've been on about
  18. Hello I have been on Accutane before and it worked but had a relapse but it had cleared my back, chest and forehead. I'm planning on going on another course and i understand it makes the acne worse before it gets better, could this cause my chest, back and forehead acne to break out again? I took a course for 5 months/ 60mg at the age of 17, im now 21 and was wondering does taking two courses decrease the chance of a relapse? If anyone could help it will be much appreciated Th
  19. hey, I have been using acanya for a while, and it significantly improved my skin. However, I've had a two week break from it and my skin started breaking out once again. I now only have dark spots and some red marks left by the pimples, and I was wondering if acanya would fade these? Or at least help them?
  20. Hey Community, I noticed there are lots of unanswered posts by older acne sufferers debating going back on Accutane for a second time. I'm starting this post in hopes of trying to streamline the conversation and also document my own experience going on a second round of isotretinoin. I hope to hear from some of you! I am a female, 28, and have battled with acne since I was about 14 years old. I myself suffered from deep, painful cystic acne that was finally my driving force at age 25 to try
  21. Hello, So there's no point in me sharing my entire severe acne story because it is probably similar to many but I will give you an overview. I've tried over 100s of OTC products and they didn't work. I've had severe acne since 17- I get crazy cyst acne, huge pimples, extremely oily skin, major blackheads which have now created some dents and btw I am dark skin african female. You name the product, I've tried it and in the past I've gone to dermatologist who prescribed me 10% glycolic pads whic
  22. I'm going to try to keep this simple, so here's the facts: - I've been on Accutane before, didn't really experience any side effects (apart from dry skin, lips, bit of redness etc.), but it worked great and it got rid of my acne for almost a year and a half, which was awesome. - My acne has slowly come back over the last 18 months, I've tried to get rid of it through BP, anti-biotics etc. and I'm now sick of it. - I went to the GP again, and after about a month they finally got me re
  23. Hi Acne.org Community! I'm new to the website and forum, but I'm seeking some advice here. I know most of you are experienced with the condition or have had some tremendous success working around it; hopefully you can help. Here's my story: I am 16 years old, I have type 1 diabetes, and I also have moderate acne. I get most of my acne on my cheeks, jawline, and body. My body acne, which actually was nonexistent until a few months ago, is crazy on my chest and shoulders (back area too). And
  24. I had to schedule and wait 2-weeks for an appointment with a dermatologist. After that waiting, all he did was RECOMMEND what dosage of accutane I should get, and I could just walk in to any pharmacy and pick up any dosage of accutane. No prescriptions at all. I think this is great, I no longer have to worry about an appointment. Is this normal in other countries for you guys? BTW- I am living in Qatar.
