  1. Hi, all. I'm using both Duac and Differin mixed together in equal parts and applying them on my face at night. After using the products for about two weeks, I've started to experience a severe burning sensation while using them. I don't know which one causes it, but it feels like my face is on fire, and it doesn't stop stinging for at least an hour! I use all of my medicine primarily for my back, but also my chest and arms. My face is the only part of my body that experiences pain while using th
  2. Hi! So I have been taking Lymecycline for just over two months now, it has worked wonders for my skin but I feel extremely nauseous for a few hours after taking it, I take it at night before I sleep for that reason. Recently I started my latest prescription of the antibiotic and have lost ALL of my appetite which is unusual for me, I love food, have a healthy relationship with food and eat everything put in front of me but in the last week I can't think of meals without feeling ill. I can'
  3. Hey guys, my face lately has been looking really red and shiny compared to the rest of my body, and I just wanna know how to fix this. I have moderate acne, a few whiteheads every couple days, but mostly red spots from previous pimples that haven't healed. I use a Clean and Clear Continuous Control Acne Cleanser at day and night, and in the mornings I use Clindmycin lotion all over, then moisturize. At night I use retin a 1% lotion all over then moisturize. I also have aczone for spot treating
  4. I just wanted to give a quick update as I pass the 18-months post-Accutane mark! My skin is still VERY clear - I probably get about one very small pimple every month or 2, and it goes away COMPLETELY within 2 days. Again, it's very small - usually doesn't even develop to the stage of being a whitehead, and it's gone before I even really notice it. Here is a before and after pic: ALSO, I wanted to address some of the side effects that other users had/have been experiencing. I basica
  5. Hello, I am currently in South Korea where Accutane is extremely cheap, even without insurance! Maybe because it's not as extensively regulated here compared to the States. I am taking a 10 mg pill once a day, 7 days a week and I just started on the first day today. Suddenly I had a revelation: Will it be okay to bring one year's worth of Accutane pills overseas to America? I am leaving at August, so I will be on the pills for only two months. However, I'm extremely confused if I can bring
  6. So when I first went to this dermatologist, I was prescribed to use an oral pill for acne, and Aczone. 3 months later, my face has gotten better after (mostly) regular usage of the oral pill and extremely infrequent usage of Aczone, as well as going dairy-free. I'm apprehensive if I should use Differin, becuase everything I've read so far says NOT to use on skin with eczema... Additionally, my skin has acne that's more on the light to mild side. My face isn't freaking out, and I don't have pus
  7. Hello! I have been taking 100 MG of Doxycycline once a day for one month, yet today when I got a refill I realized I am supposed to be taking 100 MG twice a day. Will I have another initial breakout if I increase my dosage to 100 MG twice a day? My skin has not improved much since I started and I assumed that was because it took time, but would a higher dosage help or make it worse? Additional information: I am female, 18 years old, and use Differn 0.3% at night. Any suggestions are app
  8. Hello, I have a really silly question but, how do you get it? I am hoping to get prescribed Accutane by my dermatologist tomorrow, so I was wondering how the process works for us male types because all I can find on here is how it works for the ladies.. haha. I know you have to get a blood test and all that, but I am hoping to start the regimen as soon as possible, so when would I actually start taking the dosages? Thanks so much guys, y'all rock and I hope everyone's acne stays away forever
  9. Hello all! I’m brand new to this site but I’ve read different forums on here for years. This upcoming Wednesday I’ll be meeting back with my dermatologist to discuss Accutane and hopefully get prescribed it. It’s unfortunate that it’s come to this however I’ve done everything I can up until this point. Though Accutane is sometimes frowned upon I’m excited to start this journey and hopefully never really have to deal with acne again after this. Let me give you a quick backstory before I hopefully
  10. Hi everyone, I am a long time lurker and one time poster. I’ve so badly wanted to share my success story on here for years but things usually deteriorate right before I can. I feel like I have finally stumbled across the combination of things that are keeping me clear and I really hope it will help someone else. This is going to be big but I’ve broken it into chunks so you can jump to the info that interests you J Background: I started getting acne in seventh grade. My acn
  11. Hello friends! This is the third-week that I have been on accutane, and I need some help. My dermatologist warned me about the side-effects and that it is likely that an "initial breakout" would occur sometime within the first four-weeks and last for the first couple of months. I haven't been experiencing much of the listed side-effects other that mildly dry lips, but in terms of the initial breakout - it started midway of the second-week, and so far it has been quite bad. Many blackhead and c
  12. Hey Everyone, I wanted to know if anyone has used spironolactone for their acne issues? I visited the dermatologist about 2 years ago and got prescribed spironolactone after numerous tries with other medications. It was the one medication that really has worked for me. I take 100mg a day and no longer have oily skin. My back, neck, face, chest, and scalp get very oily without spironolactone. I recently ran out of my last prescription refill for the spironolactone and switched jobs recently s
  13. So I've been prescribed 100mg of monocycline and ziana to help with my mild acne. My acne is far from severe but it is persistent and I do sometimes get cystic acne. My dermatologist looked at my skin and after telling her I have very sensitive skin, that benzoyl peroxide drys me out she prescribed ziana. Now I've never been on a prescribed medication let alone a retinal ( is that how it's spelled?) and she did not inform me what so ever about the possible side effects or that you shouldn't be i
  14. Hello fellow acne strugglers, This is my first post as a new member. I really just want to find a place to track down my daily struggle with acne and how it changes with the new medication I am on. I am currently taking 100mg of Spironolactone. I'm sorry if I start venting as I really have no where else to speak about my problems because no one seems to understand. Some background: Just like many members here, I have been struggling with acne at a very young age (13). I remembered that I was
  15. I have been using Tretioin for over a year now and for the most part it's been pretty great. I started out with the 0.25%, then the 0.05% and stayed with that for a while. I recently went through a whole winter always getting random big pimples (this never happened before) and believe me it was horrible. I went to the dermatologist around two weeks ago and he gave me the 0.1%. The first week was great, but then the purge started again. So, basically my questions are... 1) Have any of you exp
  16. Hello everyone! I have joined these forums just to talk about accutane! I'm an 18 year old female who has been avoiding accutane for as long as I could. Basic History: I basically have very oily, acne prone skin. I have especially larger pores on my cheeks near my nose. Throughout the day my makeup never last because my skin will get oily within a few hours. Anyways, my first bad break out was when I was in seventh grade nearing eighth grade. I had pimples mostly on my cheeks and forehead,
  17. I've been on Ziana since the second to last week of November and its now the second week of January. Previously I was on Tretinoin .05% and Clindamycin 1% used together at once for a year, I asked my doctor about the slightly deeper blackhead/whitehead looking things on my face so she prescribed me Ziana instead for some reason because it is both tretinoin and clindamycin. She said it will not make me break out again like I was when I first started using tretinoin alone a year ago. I've noticed
  18. Hi, guys so this is my story im 16 so obviously my acne is hormonal and sadly my moms side has it too
  19. Hi everyone, As of today, I've been on Epiduo for a little under three months. To preface, I've never had terrible acne- its what I personally would call mild/moderate but relative to some on here, it is pretty mild. The toll that even this has taken on me has been huge- large enough to warrant multiple dermatologist visits, infinitely many OTCs, home remedies, you name it- I cant imagine having it any worse and I truly sympathize with everyone who does. It sucks. I do have very fair skin an
  20. So I decided to start a sort of log of my doxcycline experience, and also where I can get some help/advice. I have only been experiencing moderate to severe acne this past summer (for the past 3 months). I am 19, almost 20, and used proactive throughout high school. It kept my skin average, I never had perfect flawless skin but it was never that much of a problem (not nearly as bad as it is now). So at the beginning of June I decided to go off because my results weren't awesome and it's pric

  22. Hi, I'm 25 and still getting acne. When I was 16 AND 21 I did Accutane. The first time, I had pretty clear skin for about a year or so, and in college the second time, I saw almost no satisfaction after a few months being off it. Anyone else have less than satisfactory results from Accutane? I'm back on an antibiotic (Doryx/doxycyclin). I can't be on coventional birth control pills anymore because of a migraine correlation, but I'm on the implant/Nexplanon. I'm really anxious to clear up my jaw/
  23. Don't have insurance? Did you know you can get up to 75% off your prescription for free? I don't go to the doctors often so maybe you already know this. There were a bunch of free cards on my derm's desk call RxRelief cards. Here's the card information, they're all the same. Member ID: SRK189264 BIN 015756 GRP 7028BBB PCN RELIEF The first day I bought Accutane I didn't have my prescription card and I was able to just give them the ID, BIN and GRP and they accepted it. If you're not com
  24. Hey everyone, I currently got my second month's prescription of Accutane yesterday, and the process was a complete mess! First thing that day, I went to the dermatologist for my blood test, was given the OK, then went to classes. After I got back, I went to the pharmacy to pick it up. They got my prescription, except that they didn't have any in stock and I'd have to wait until Monday for the prescription to be filled. Now, I wasn't going to go without Accutane for three days (two days ago, T
  25. I have been on the antibiotic minocycline for about three months now. I am fifteen years old and had terrible acne on my forehead. I have had this acne for about three years and it has seriously affected my self esteem. The Minocycline has produced fantastic results and after about two months my skin is 90% clear. My self esteem is incredible. I don't have to spend ten minutes trying to cover up my acne with makeup, only to wash it off and stay home. I don't even need to wear makeup anymore
