  1. Hi all, It's been a while since I posted on here but thought i'd not only update on my situation but I also have a few questions and would love some other's perspectives or experiences. In October 2012, I was signed off form my job in recruitment for a few weeks with anxiety and depression and it was around this time that my acne got particularly bad, and has been bad ever since. I ended up handing in my notice and giving up the job altogether. I moved home for a bit and left my flat in
  2. Hey everyone! I'm currently taking Claravis. (Accutane) 15, Male, 122lbs. I'm on day 48, 40 mg once a day, and I was just wondering if my side affects are bad or if I should be worried? I've had a head cold and I do have some sinus issues so I think they might go hand in hand with these side affects. My dermatologist told me that my liver, triglycerides, and cholesterol levels were perfect and looked as though my body wasn't even phasing the drug. But I'm experiencing side affects like b
  3. I'm having an issue with the iPledge program...my doctor never filled in my test results from the appointment and now it's saying that I need doctor confirmation before I can get anywhere with the prescription. There is a mix up somewhere and I don't know where, but the office is closed until Monday. I was wondering if it will be bad to miss 2, possibly 3, doses? I don't want to have to start all over! Help! Thank you! -Freaked Out
  4. I was wondering if anyone can shed some light on my random mild itching scalp that started after taking spironolactone. At first I thought it was due to stress, but it comes about very randomly and it doesn't seem stress related. I would wake up and my scalp would itch on one side, or the bottom half of my head. It comes and goes. My scalp isn't flaky, dry, or red. Side info: after spiro, my scalp is now normal and not oily the day after a hair wash. I think my hair thickness is pretty sim
  5. Have just been told that UK has almost no Skinoren in any pharmacies as manufacturer isn't sending it out and it could be months before we get any. I'm planning to buy some on the net in the meantime in case it is a while before I can get some on prescription again and my GP is hoping that he can prescribe me the next best thing. Will this be Finacea gel, do you think? I know they both have Azelaic acid in them but I thought that Finacea is mainly used for Rosacea, not acne?
  6. Hi, I was just wondering if anyone on these boards has had experience with Doxycycline and/or Epiduo. I just got a prescription from my dermatologist and was wondering how well it worked, what to expect, etc. I have technically severe acne, but not on the extreme end of severe. I usually have 1-2 cysts at a time and a good amount of pimples, especially on my chin. I think they're mostly hormonal. Also, I have moderate pimples and whiteheads on my upper back. Any advice is appreciated!
  7. Hey guys, Has anyone else been having the problem of 'manufacturing problems'? I went to the doctors a month ago to stock up on Acnecide cream which i've been using all year. It's a BP cream, worked amazingly as long as I didn't stop using it abruptly The doctor then prescribed me the cream but I went to collect it from my local chemist and BOOM. Apparently there's manufacturing problems, all BP creams are unavailable everywhere and won't be distributed again until next year. Has anyone else
  8. I need some counseling from other people who have been on ultra low dose Accutane. I am currently on 40mg twice a week - one 40mg pill on tuesday and one on friday. It's has been a little over a month since I started treatment and I haven't seen any evidence of the Accutane doing anything except for the occasionally dry lips. I was on a normal course of Accutane around 2 years ago but my acne came back, sadly. It was only after reading such amazing things about ultra low-dose treatments that
  9. I want to try to incorporate the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel in to my pm routine but I’m not sure how because I use a prescription topical cream. Should I use it before Epiduo and let it dry? Here is my current routine: My current night routine: splash water on face 1. cleanse with Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser Splash off with water, pat dry skin but leave damp 2. Apply Epiduo 3. WAit 10 minutes 4. Apply Cerave Moisturizing Lotion
  10. I'm really confused because my derm put me on Accutane today and she registered me into iPledge and gave me the booklet and the ID cards and everything, but I'm not sure if I have to log into the iPledge program because all these posts say stuff about having to have your password emailed to you but I never got an email nor did my derm say anything about passwords or usernames, she just mentioned my ID cards and that she registered me... Do you only need a password to log on to if your a female a
  11. well the title says it all i have a derm appt tomorrow and i really do not want to start taking antibiotics because of everything ive read about resistance and when you stop taking it it comes back.. also i do not want any topicals because almost all have a bad IB.. which is why i really dont even use moisturizer.. plus almost all antibiotics take FOREVER to work from my readings on the org... so does any one have any advice for me they could spare.. im going to tell my soon to be new derm th
  12. Just been prescirbed erythromycin-zinc cream for my skin. My first thought is that won't this cause antibiotic resistance in p.acnes? If so, will it come back worse than before once it stops working?
  13. It seems like these forums are infected by negative accutane stories. I get it, some people want to share their negative side effects and see if others are experiencing the same thing and sometimes they want to warn others of potential side effects. I think people need hope and need to stop focusing and worrying on side effects that could occur. We want to hear about people who have been off this product for a long time and are doing great. Of course these people who are doing great usually do
  14. Hey guys, I will try to update this log as often as possible with relevant information, in the hope it can help people who are in a similar situation as mine. I am a 25 year old guy, and I have had acne since I was 17-18. My acne was never considered severe, but it has been very persistent, it never went away with age and it continually shifted from whiteheads to cystic to small bumps to whiteheads etc. It actually has always been a problem for me and I don't know why I didn't try to tackl
  15. Warning: This is a long post. I wrote this post to talk about my skin journey and to show others that it does get better! It is a long post, and is very detailed in order to help people get an understanding of this treatment route and the effects of it! Back Story Last year, I had been contemplating on taking accutane as a last resort to get rid of my stubborn acne. I had literally tried everything including OTC products containing BP and SA, LUSH products, proactiv,
  16. I got really bad acne starting in March because of a bipolar medication (pretty positive). I had some before that around my period but never that bad. Then it just blew up....I would get recurring little red bumps around my temples and clogged pores, blackheads, red bumps on my cheeks. Sometimes it would even look rashy? I've tried otc products, clindamycin, duac, benzoyl peroxide, salycilic acid, diet changes, drinking plenty of water, minocycline, etc. I was prescribed tretinoin but heard it c
  17. Hey all! Used to suffer from terrible acne when I was like 16-17..absolutely nothing worked apart from Roaccutane! After the 9 months on it (starting from 20mg and finishing on 70mg) my skin was flawless! Apart from a tiny bit of red marks from the cysts. About a month off it I noticed I was getting little red pimples on my face which seemed to get worse and worse.. (nothing major but it was enough to see and reduce my confidence) so I went back to my derm and she put me on second course of 80mg
  18. So my last login was from November of 2013.... Now I'm back. This time to offer some help, advice, and insight. I'm going to spend a decent amount of time writing this - so I hope someone reads this and finds it helpful. So November of 2013, a junior in college. University of Tampa - where everyone is near perfect. Suffering from acne. Taking a cab to my dermatologist appointment. Same visit per usual - quick glance at my skin and an increase in dosage of my doxycycline. I leave extremely
  19. Hi everyone! I just have a question I'd like to post to everyone about acne... If you were given a proven system to clear your skin without topical treatment, what would be your most preferred method of learning how to do it? Method 1 - Online Program (e-Learning platform describing everything about clearing your skin - do it yourself at your own pace) Method 2 - 1 on 1 Coaching (Customized system to meet your needs working 1 on 1)
  20. Hello I have been on accutane before (ordered online) and I was wondering how do I get prescribed accutane? Do I make an appointment with any dermatologist? And what are the chances of getting prescribed accutane? I'm 21 with my own health insurance but my parents live half way across the country so they can't help. Thanks!
  21. Hi there! I need some advice. After trying a new aesthetician (From Head to Toe 7466 Beverly Blvd, LA, CA), my skin broke out in the worst way possible. I now have these gross, skin colored bumps all over my forehead & jaw that I don't really see as much as feel. They become visible when my skin is stretched though (like when I open my mouth, etc). I bought mandelic acid serum 10% from MUAC and mandelic acid toner 5%, which I had used for about two weeks. However, out of desperation, I als
  22. First of all.. I'm new here! I hope I'm not repeating anyone! I'm 17 and I've never really had an acne problem.. just a blemish here and there. Recently though I've been breaking out a lot more, it's still mild though, nothing severe, mostly on my forehead and chin.. sometimes on my cheeks. I eat completely clean and drink a lot of water so this didn't really make much sense. I went to a dermatologist and she gave me this regimen: Morning: Wash Cerave AM lotion Effaclar Duo (thin lay
  23. I never really had any problems with my skin until last year when I broke out on my chin and jawline with mild acne. I had a lot of pimples and whiteheads, but thankfully no cysts, however my skin was still a spotty red mess. I went to my GP who prescribed me Duac Once Daily Gel, which cleared me in about a month. I was happy. I still had the occasional break out and whiteheads but generally my skin was fine, a little uneven but fine. So I stopped with the Duac and went about life. On a few occa
  24. Dear all In May 2013, I started an accutane treatments that lasted 9 months, ending in January 2014. Within 2 months, my oily skin returned and breakouts resurfaced. Granted my skin is better, but not as good as I wanted it to be. During this period I moved from Switzerland to the Netherlands and changed dermatologist. She suggested a second accutane treatment, which started at the beginning of June 2014 (about 20 days ago). However, this time, the treatment is a different dosage: lower than
  25. In August of 2013 I had started to use tretinoin .025% then was bumped up to tretinoin .05% later that year as well as being prescribed clindamycin phosphate topical lotion 1% to be used together. Ive used it up until middle november of 2014 then was prescribed Ziana gel (tretinoin .025% clindamycin 2%). Ive been using ziana for two months now and haven't really seen a difference in my skin like I had with the generic tretinoin and clindamycin used separately but I still applied both at once. I
