  1. Hello all! I’m brand new to this site but I’ve read different forums on here for years. This upcoming Wednesday I’ll be meeting back with my dermatologist to discuss Accutane and hopefully get prescribed it. It’s unfortunate that it’s come to this however I’ve done everything I can up until this point. Though Accutane is sometimes frowned upon I’m excited to start this journey and hopefully never really have to deal with acne again after this. Let me give you a quick backstory before I hopefully
  2. Hi, I’ve been taking spiro since November and was initially taking 50mg. At the start of January my skin was starting to clear up nicely and my oil levels had been slightly reduced, but from all the research I had done, I figured 100mg would be the boost I needed to clear my skin for good. But now it’s been a few weeks and my skin seems to be oily again and I’m getting more bumps and spots around my jaw. My regime and diet hasn’t changed at all, so I know that can’t be a reason. I
  3. I want to try to incorporate the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel in to my pm routine but I’m not sure how because I use a prescription topical cream. Should I use it before Epiduo and let it dry? Here is my current routine: My current night routine: splash water on face 1. cleanse with Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser Splash off with water, pat dry skin but leave damp 2. Apply Epiduo 3. WAit 10 minutes 4. Apply Cerave Moisturizing Lotion
  4. Hey Community, I noticed there are lots of unanswered posts by older acne sufferers debating going back on Accutane for a second time. I'm starting this post in hopes of trying to streamline the conversation and also document my own experience going on a second round of isotretinoin. I hope to hear from some of you! I am a female, 28, and have battled with acne since I was about 14 years old. I myself suffered from deep, painful cystic acne that was finally my driving force at age 25 to try
  5. Hello, So there's no point in me sharing my entire severe acne story because it is probably similar to many but I will give you an overview. I've tried over 100s of OTC products and they didn't work. I've had severe acne since 17- I get crazy cyst acne, huge pimples, extremely oily skin, major blackheads which have now created some dents and btw I am dark skin african female. You name the product, I've tried it and in the past I've gone to dermatologist who prescribed me 10% glycolic pads whic
  6. I am taking 2 Anti-Biotic pills a day, one in the morning and one at night. When I am in the shower,(usually an hour after I take the pill) I use a 2% salicylic acid cleanser. I also use Concealer sometimes when my acne is a bit rough, the makeup concealer has 0.5% salicylic acid in it as well. I would also like to note, right before I go to bed, I also take the prescriptive acne creme called Differin (0.1% Adapelene, probably some other stuff in there as well) RECAP: I take a pill when I w
  7. So I've only been on a low dose of 25mg Spiro for 16 days now and for the past couple of days I've experienced sore and tender breasts on the under side of them, more than I usually would during PMS. I've heard that spiro can cause breast growth so was just wondering if this might be the case? I barely fill an A cup, always had oily skin and moderate acne since 10y/o and when I gain weight it always goes straight to my belly and face/neck. All of these are signs of high testosterone/androgens
  8. Hello, I have been using my BenzePro emollient foam (BP 5.3%) on my face every night to treat my mild adult acne since February, and it has been working very well. However, the last 4 nights I’ve been away from home and have come home late and have accidentally skipped my nightly treatment each time. On the box of the product, it says to take the missed dose as soon as you remember. My skin has only developed one pimple in the last 4 days, but I am worried that when I use it again my skin
  9. Hi everyone, I am a long time lurker and one time poster. I’ve so badly wanted to share my success story on here for years but things usually deteriorate right before I can. I feel like I have finally stumbled across the combination of things that are keeping me clear and I really hope it will help someone else. This is going to be big but I’ve broken it into chunks so you can jump to the info that interests you J Background: I started getting acne in seventh grade. My acn
  10. Any help is greatly appreciated. I recently went to my dermatologist and she prescribed Epiduo for my cystic acne on my chin. And I used to use Clindamycin/Benzoyl Peroxide (1.2%/5%) on my nose/forehead. I started the peroxide again last week and only used it twice before it started making my skin feel like a lizard and burn like FIRE when I moisturize. It’s been about 4-5 days ago and it’s still not calming down. I’m not sure if it’s due to putting moisturizer on after I put
  11. I'm on a prescription of isotetrinoin and azithromycin .... I eat one pill on alternative days. So today I was supposed to eat isotetrinoin but unfortunately I'm not at home and I don't have the pill around me so tomorrow when I'll go home should I take the isotetrinoin pill in morning and azithromycin at night... Instead of just taking azithromycin that day alone as I am supposed to do ?
  12. Hi I’m Kelly and I’ve been recently struggling with an acne problem I thought was resolved :(. I have been taking minocyline for the past 3 months and recently was taken off of it by my derm. Also, I was on trentinoin .05% and clindamycin 1% gel along with the minocyline. I am still on the prescription gels however upon coming off the pill a week or two ago my face has consistently gotten worse breaking out. Shouldn’t the gels be preventing that? Will this get better with them or should I ask to
  13. Hi everyone! I just have a question I'd like to post to everyone about acne... If you were given a proven system to clear your skin without topical treatment, what would be your most preferred method of learning how to do it? Method 1 - Online Program (e-Learning platform describing everything about clearing your skin - do it yourself at your own pace) Method 2 - 1 on 1 Coaching (Customized system to meet your needs working 1 on 1)
  14. Hi everyone! Thank you for reading my post. I would like to share my experience with prescription retinoids and hear yours as well. I have been using adapalene 0.3% (Differin highest strength) for about a year. It helps to reduce the number and severity of my breakouts, but not as well as I would like it to. My dermatologist is switching me to tretinoin 0.025% (Retin-A lowest strength). If anyone has tried both, would you please kindly share your experience, comparing and contrasting the two? I
  15. Hi everyone! I started taking erythromycin a few months ago to help with my acne (on my face, back and chest). It helped at first, but slowly the acne started to come back so I went back to my GP and got a prescription of lymecycline. This was about 3 weeks ago and right now I have had a really really terrible breakout not only on my face, but it's also on my back and chest. It's the worst it has been in about 4 years. I'm going to go back to my doctor about this, but my questions are: Do
  16. Hi I was recently prescribed clindmycin 1% twice daily and tretinoin 0.025% every other night. I've been using them for three days now on my really bad breakout(2 big cysts, a bunch of pustules on the temples, jaw, and forehead). So, I am wondering how long will it take until I can see some of those pimples go away or even for the purge to begin.
  17. Is my back bad enough to get a prescription to help? I have flare ups and it's been worse than it is now. Over the counter washes and other products don't really help.
  18. Hello, im 28 and I'm pretty well acne free now, well at least when I'm on my antibiotic Bactrim. When I'm not on it it's terrible! problem is ive been on these antibiotics for years now and I hear how bad it can be to be on antibiotics long term. I have a number of other skin, hair and anxiety problems and I'm concerned it's all coming from within. So im thinking it really is time to try and get off them again (my skin goes so bad I have to get back on) but I have no plan. Is there somethi
  19. I'm going the visit the dermatologist soon for the first time after reading up a bit on prescription treatments. The best option I have seen is Retin A, but I really don't want to go on it since I heard the purge can be horrible for many months. I'm willing to go on it if it will help, but are there any other alternative the dermatologist can prescribe that does NOT have a purging period? I don't want to have to go through a purge since I don't want to still be broken out because of it by the ti
  20. Hey guys, I was thinking of booking an appointment with Sk:n who said they can offer Roaccutane. Would I be able to get it prescribed privately, then pay for prescriptions/get blood work done on the NHS?
  21. Just been prescirbed erythromycin-zinc cream for my skin. My first thought is that won't this cause antibiotic resistance in p.acnes? If so, will it come back worse than before once it stops working?
  22. So my dermatologist finally prescribed me Accutane, and I have moderately severe acne that scars. My medicine is supposed to be ready to be picked up tomorrow after 3 pm, but I'm worried because my derm prescribed me only 20mg/day and i'm 17, 5'4.5, and 117 pounds (female). Do you think if I call him in the morning and ask for a higher dosage that they will change this month's from 20 to 40? Or is it too late? I don't want my acne to come back once the course is over, and my derm said I will be
  23. Here's my plight!!! It's long so bear with me. I've had acne for about five years now. I'm currently in my junior year of high school. While my acne isn't severe or cystic, every single pimple I get causes hyperpigmentation and I have a dark mark on my face for weeks (if I'm super lucky) or months (normal). I have plenty of comedomes on my cheeks which often get inflamed and cause the spot to turn red and fill with pus. After they pop, they leave a HUGE black mark and often times the same spot w
  24. Funny story. 2 months ago, I went to a derma, he made me do a blood test then gave me a 2 month supply of accutane for about $60 if I convert to USD. I came back for more accutane after 40 days, he told me to do ANOTHER blood test and wait another week. Hell nah do I got time for that, I'm too busy. So what I did was go to a local pharmacy, apparently they don't *need* a prescription, he just gave me another month supply for $30. I'm living in Saudi Arabia, they aren't so strict on getting
  25. Hey guys, I will try to update this log as often as possible with relevant information, in the hope it can help people who are in a similar situation as mine. I am a 25 year old guy, and I have had acne since I was 17-18. My acne was never considered severe, but it has been very persistent, it never went away with age and it continually shifted from whiteheads to cystic to small bumps to whiteheads etc. It actually has always been a problem for me and I don't know why I didn't try to tackl
