  1. I would say that before I started seeing my Dermatologist, I had very mild but persistent acne. I had been using Clean and Clear Persa Gel-10 for a long time, and although it worked at first I think my skin was becoming used to it. My doctor put me on Epiduo, and she told me that if I really wanted my acne to go away fast she would prescribe me Solodyn. Of course I did want my acne to go away as fast as possible, so I took her up on her offer. Well my acne got worse. Like, a lot worse. I was

    Any Ideas For Last Hope?

Hi everyone, I could really use your help... I've suffered from hormonal acne off and on for about 8 years now. The last 18 months constantly. I've tried everything I can think of by now and would love your opinions on what else I could try. I'd prefer keeping it fairly natural and avoid prescription medications though. Here's a brief hormonal history that might illustrate the problem: Because of my many problems with the pill, I've been totally off it for 18 months now. I've been on about
  3. So I decided to start a sort of log of my doxcycline experience, and also where I can get some help/advice. I have only been experiencing moderate to severe acne this past summer (for the past 3 months). I am 19, almost 20, and used proactive throughout high school. It kept my skin average, I never had perfect flawless skin but it was never that much of a problem (not nearly as bad as it is now). So at the beginning of June I decided to go off because my results weren't awesome and it's pric
  4. Hey all I was hoping I wouldn't have to be in this position again, but here I am I recently came off Accutane 40mg/day for 7 months. During the treatment I was clear around 3 or 4 months in, however 4 months post treatment I am staring to break out again and it appears to be getting worse. To be honest I think my dosage wasn't high enough, hence the early relapse. I understand that your skin may respond differently do topicals after a course of accutane. My options are: 1.) Beg
  5. So today I was prescribed 0.05% Tretionin by my derm, but reading reviews everyone (almost everyone) says they got an initial breakout I don't want bad skin for new years and i'm going to be at the beach so it will definitely be 100% visible :/ Should I wait to start? How long did your initial breakout last??
  6. hey, I have been using acanya for a while, and it significantly improved my skin. However, I've had a two week break from it and my skin started breaking out once again. I now only have dark spots and some red marks left by the pimples, and I was wondering if acanya would fade these? Or at least help them?
  7. I have enlarged pores between my eye and nose and some on my cheek, I was wondering if I use retin a micro .1% if it would help them? Thanks
  8. Hi, guys so this is my story im 16 so obviously my acne is hormonal and sadly my moms side has it too
  9. Hello I have been on Accutane before and it worked but had a relapse but it had cleared my back, chest and forehead. I'm planning on going on another course and i understand it makes the acne worse before it gets better, could this cause my chest, back and forehead acne to break out again? I took a course for 5 months/ 60mg at the age of 17, im now 21 and was wondering does taking two courses decrease the chance of a relapse? If anyone could help it will be much appreciated Th
  10. Don't have insurance? Did you know you can get up to 75% off your prescription for free? I don't go to the doctors often so maybe you already know this. There were a bunch of free cards on my derm's desk call RxRelief cards. Here's the card information, they're all the same. Member ID: SRK189264 BIN 015756 GRP 7028BBB PCN RELIEF The first day I bought Accutane I didn't have my prescription card and I was able to just give them the ID, BIN and GRP and they accepted it. If you're not com

  12. Hello friends! This is the third-week that I have been on accutane, and I need some help. My dermatologist warned me about the side-effects and that it is likely that an "initial breakout" would occur sometime within the first four-weeks and last for the first couple of months. I haven't been experiencing much of the listed side-effects other that mildly dry lips, but in terms of the initial breakout - it started midway of the second-week, and so far it has been quite bad. Many blackhead and c
  13. I am 16 year old guy and ive been dealing with acne since i was 13 and its always been a problem for me to go out with my friends or even talk to girls since im so self-conscious about the fact that they'll look at me differently since I have acne. My dad had severe acne in his teen years too but he used accutane to get rid of his. I can say that I have moderate acne and coming from my dad, I am not interested in using accutane due to the severe side effects. I get pimples mostly on my cheeks, s
  14. I went to my doctor about my acne and he prescribed me with lymecycline capsules and acnecide 5% gel, I tried a gel called duac previously and it didn't seem to work very well, just wondering if the lymecycline capsules and acnecide gel will work any better? And if it has worked for anyone else?
  15. So I've been prescribed 100mg of monocycline and ziana to help with my mild acne. My acne is far from severe but it is persistent and I do sometimes get cystic acne. My dermatologist looked at my skin and after telling her I have very sensitive skin, that benzoyl peroxide drys me out she prescribed ziana. Now I've never been on a prescribed medication let alone a retinal ( is that how it's spelled?) and she did not inform me what so ever about the possible side effects or that you shouldn't be i

    Accutane!

I just came off accutane a few months ago and it worked wonders on my skin! But since then my eyes have stayed very dry and I've had trouble sleeping. Anyone else had this problem? Also, more importantly, my sister just got put on accutane and her acne really isn't that bad. he started her on 40 mg twice a day. She weighs maybe 130 lbs. Does that seem like a very high dosage to any of you?
  17. I am going to my dermatologist tomorrow after using Clindamycin Phosphate Lotion for a few months with no success. I want a product that will not purge my skin as the Clindamycin has. I NEED to get rid of these bumps before I go camping in 2 months. My skin tone (though uneven to begin with) seems to be worse than ever before as well. I look like a heroin addict. My confidence is in the gutter. I'm in tears. I have lots of small bumps all along my jaw and cheeks now since using Clind
  18. I have been using Tretioin for over a year now and for the most part it's been pretty great. I started out with the 0.25%, then the 0.05% and stayed with that for a while. I recently went through a whole winter always getting random big pimples (this never happened before) and believe me it was horrible. I went to the dermatologist around two weeks ago and he gave me the 0.1%. The first week was great, but then the purge started again. So, basically my questions are... 1) Have any of you exp
  19. Hi all I know it’s tough dealing with acne, and so I’ve devised this makeup routine for anyone suffering from any forms of acne. It’s the best one in my opinion (I use these products and can tell you from experience they’re fantastic) HYPERPIGMENTED SKIN if you’re Asian like me you know how hard brown marks are to deal with. Luckily Caucasian skin deals with post inflammatory hyper pigmentation in half the time, and so if you’re dealing with red marks don’t fret! They’ll be gone in a year.

    Ziana

Hello everyone. I just wanted to start keeping track and hopefully get some feedback on my experience with Ziana. I'm a 25 yr old male and have had acne on and off since high school. In the past few months, it has taken a major turn and has become much worse than normal. I have mild/moderate acne consisted of closed red comedones across my forehead, a few small pimples on my cheeks, and about 10 across my jawline. Most are a mix between whiteheads, blackheads & cystic. I went to the de

    Day 11!

So my breakouts seem to be diminishing. My skin has gotten drier but with my daily moisturizer I am flake free. I have noticed my eyes are getting dry and my legs hurt whenever I bend down on them. This never happened before accutane. My skin is still getting oily. I hope things get better soon. I am still using all the same products that I was using before.
  23. Hello fellow acne strugglers, This is my first post as a new member. I really just want to find a place to track down my daily struggle with acne and how it changes with the new medication I am on. I am currently taking 100mg of Spironolactone. I'm sorry if I start venting as I really have no where else to speak about my problems because no one seems to understand. Some background: Just like many members here, I have been struggling with acne at a very young age (13). I remembered that I was
  24. Hello everyone. Basically my situation is this: I have grown up jumping around to a bunch of different dermatologists, and I've been prescribed just about every topical and antibiotic medication in the book. I always used to have pretty bad acne on my face, but I've gotten that cleared up except for the occasional pustule, and blackheads on my nose. My biggest problems are my chest, shoulders, neck, and back. These areas of my body still have pretty big and often times painful pustules and c
