  1. Okay so I just wanted to report my success on accutane for all of you wishy washy about the drug. I have had persistent acne since I was 13 and I am now 23. I wouldn't call it cystic but I do get cysts as well as a lot of tiny bumps all over and some red inflamed ones. Since turning 20 it has gotten a bit better but I almost never have totally clear skin. I tried literally everything, every over the counter product, diet, cleanse, uv lights, facials, peels, etc. last year I started modeling and
  2. I have been on the prescription drug, Minocycline, for the past year. Before that i experienced not necessarily severe but pretty spontaneous acne..not in bunches just a lot of pimples by them selves mainly on chin, around lips, on cheek bones and fore head. I have tried creams and gels and prescription gels and nothing gets rid of them. Once I took Minocycline I rarely !!!! Very rarely would get pimples just sometimes when my period was coming up a few would pop up but nothing to stress over. R
  3. I am completely lost. My acne is absolutely killing me. None are cystic, but my cheeks and chin are covered in skin colour, and red pimples. I've also recently developed a patch around 1.5 cm in width, which is red, dry and hard, but is not painful. I'm not sure what it is. Also, I get a breakout the same day every week. I will wake up the next morning with whiteheads on my chin. I have sports on this day, but i don't sweat, and i can't recall touching my face more than i usually do, so i have
  4. Hi I’m Kelly and I’ve been recently struggling with an acne problem I thought was resolved :(. I have been taking minocyline for the past 3 months and recently was taken off of it by my derm. Also, I was on trentinoin .05% and clindamycin 1% gel along with the minocyline. I am still on the prescription gels however upon coming off the pill a week or two ago my face has consistently gotten worse breaking out. Shouldn’t the gels be preventing that? Will this get better with them or should I ask to
  5. Hello, im 28 and I'm pretty well acne free now, well at least when I'm on my antibiotic Bactrim. When I'm not on it it's terrible! problem is ive been on these antibiotics for years now and I hear how bad it can be to be on antibiotics long term. I have a number of other skin, hair and anxiety problems and I'm concerned it's all coming from within. So im thinking it really is time to try and get off them again (my skin goes so bad I have to get back on) but I have no plan. Is there somethi
  6. Hello, I have been using my BenzePro emollient foam (BP 5.3%) on my face every night to treat my mild adult acne since February, and it has been working very well. However, the last 4 nights I’ve been away from home and have come home late and have accidentally skipped my nightly treatment each time. On the box of the product, it says to take the missed dose as soon as you remember. My skin has only developed one pimple in the last 4 days, but I am worried that when I use it again my skin
  7. Have just been told that UK has almost no Skinoren in any pharmacies as manufacturer isn't sending it out and it could be months before we get any. I'm planning to buy some on the net in the meantime in case it is a while before I can get some on prescription again and my GP is hoping that he can prescribe me the next best thing. Will this be Finacea gel, do you think? I know they both have Azelaic acid in them but I thought that Finacea is mainly used for Rosacea, not acne?
  8. I don't have the worst acne in the world, i just have a lot of pimples (like 15-17). i have been using clean and clear 10% benzoil peroxide for a long time but didnt see much improvement. i went to the doctor a little over 2 weeks ago and he gave me .01% (yes i realize that is the lowest dosage) and an antibiotic called ERY-tab 500 mg (to my knowledge this is the highest dosage). is it ok to keep using the clean and clear wash? i feel like it helps a ton because my face gets super oily and greas
  9. Hi all, It's been a while since I posted on here but thought i'd not only update on my situation but I also have a few questions and would love some other's perspectives or experiences. In October 2012, I was signed off form my job in recruitment for a few weeks with anxiety and depression and it was around this time that my acne got particularly bad, and has been bad ever since. I ended up handing in my notice and giving up the job altogether. I moved home for a bit and left my flat in
  10. Hi, I was just wondering if anyone on these boards has had experience with Doxycycline and/or Epiduo. I just got a prescription from my dermatologist and was wondering how well it worked, what to expect, etc. I have technically severe acne, but not on the extreme end of severe. I usually have 1-2 cysts at a time and a good amount of pimples, especially on my chin. I think they're mostly hormonal. Also, I have moderate pimples and whiteheads on my upper back. Any advice is appreciated!
  11. Hi guys, This is my first post here because I have no idea what to do about my face anymore. I had picture perfect skin just 2.5 months ago, now my skin is dripping oil, constantly breaking out. I made an apt for bc but I don't know which one to go on, or if I even truly need it. I have a fee breakouts constantly now, but 11 days before my period (every month now) I get tons of breakouts, especially around my eyebrows and my cheeks, and lots of small pimples on my chin and jawline. I use a
  12. Hey guys, I'm 18 and I've had moderate acne for about 4 years now, I've tried every single topical and medication out there for my acne and the only thing that works slightly is BP, but my acne is getting worse by the day. I've come to the point in my life where I don't care what anyone thinks, I don't care if i haven't got 'cystic' acne or 'proper' acne, I just want it gone. Its effecting my life so much to where I don't feel like I can do anything any more. I get so upset and it just feels lik
  13. I had a dermatology appointment today and my doctor is considering prescribing Nicazel. Have any of you had any experience with this medication? If so, was it beneficial? Did you have an initial breakout?
  14. Hi, my family doctor recently prescribed me Tactupump (about 3 weeks now). I've read that the burning and the dryness goes away after 2 weeks tops however mine is as bad as it has ever been. When I use cleanser it burns a bit; some cleansers I use burn a lot more than others but I'm currently using the one that burns the least and it's nothing TOO painful but I still feel the burn. It's also noticeably red on the areas I've been applying Tactupump. My acne hasn't been that bad in a while a
  15. Funny story. 2 months ago, I went to a derma, he made me do a blood test then gave me a 2 month supply of accutane for about $60 if I convert to USD. I came back for more accutane after 40 days, he told me to do ANOTHER blood test and wait another week. Hell nah do I got time for that, I'm too busy. So what I did was go to a local pharmacy, apparently they don't *need* a prescription, he just gave me another month supply for $30. I'm living in Saudi Arabia, they aren't so strict on getting
  16. Hey everybody, I'm a first time poster but long time reader and follower of this forum. I've been struggling with acne my whole life and it's great to come to this forum and see that I'm not alone. I honestly can't even remember when the dreaded problem started but I can say that I am 26 years old and suffer with adult acne. Most of my acne is on the left side of my face with zits here and there on the right. It's been hard to pinpoint the cause of my acne but it's most likely hormonal due to t

    Spironolactone And Itchy Scalp

I was wondering if anyone can shed some light on my random mild itching scalp that started after taking spironolactone. At first I thought it was due to stress, but it comes about very randomly and it doesn't seem stress related. I would wake up and my scalp would itch on one side, or the bottom half of my head. It comes and goes. My scalp isn't flaky, dry, or red. Side info: after spiro, my scalp is now normal and not oily the day after a hair wash. I think my hair thickness is pretty sim
  18. Is my back bad enough to get a prescription to help? I have flare ups and it's been worse than it is now. Over the counter washes and other products don't really help.
  19. Hi all I have been prescribed my GP and have read that I should start seeing results after 4 weeks. It's been 5 weeks and all throughout the last few weeks I have started developing large red and angry spots which I didn't have before, they are making more unhappy with my skin then I was before. Has anyone else experienced this? Could it just be getting rid of all the rubbish from my face before I start seeing results? I don't know whether I should get another 1 month prescription of it and se
  20. Hey guys, Has anyone else been having the problem of 'manufacturing problems'? I went to the doctors a month ago to stock up on Acnecide cream which i've been using all year. It's a BP cream, worked amazingly as long as I didn't stop using it abruptly The doctor then prescribed me the cream but I went to collect it from my local chemist and BOOM. Apparently there's manufacturing problems, all BP creams are unavailable everywhere and won't be distributed again until next year. Has anyone else

    Roaccutane Diary

Hi everyone, I'm a 16 year old and have recently been prescribed Roaccutane. I have decided to keep a diary of my progress for people who aren't sure whether or not Roaccutane is for them. Personally I was looking forward to going on the drug. I was so sick of my skin as I have had ongoing spots since I was 12/13, but my skin got really bad since last year. Previously I had tried every product known to get rid of spots but none of them worked. I was using a skincare salicylic acid wash given
  22. Here's my plight!!! It's long so bear with me. I've had acne for about five years now. I'm currently in my junior year of high school. While my acne isn't severe or cystic, every single pimple I get causes hyperpigmentation and I have a dark mark on my face for weeks (if I'm super lucky) or months (normal). I have plenty of comedomes on my cheeks which often get inflamed and cause the spot to turn red and fill with pus. After they pop, they leave a HUGE black mark and often times the same spot w

    One Week

It has been one week since i started taking the 10 mg pills twice a day, so 20 mg. There hasnt been many changes yet, but i have had stomach pains twice, but I took paracetomol and they went away. The ores around my nose have become very visible and large, and Ive been getting tiny little bumps around my chin and forehead where i dont usually get them. Havent experienced any dryness in the lips and skin, although I feel more thirsty. I hope my skin will start to clear up soon.
  24. Hi everyone. Just joined this website earlier and this is my first blog/conversation. I am 21 years old and have had acne since the age of about 14. At the start of February I was prescribed Accutane and I first started taking the drug on February 6th 2016, so that will be 16 weeks on the drug tomorrow (about 4 months). Bottom line.. MY SKIN IS STILL BAD AND IM STILL BREAKING OUT, my derm is calling then 'pustuals'. Now don't get me wrong my skin is getting better in certain areas (forehead and
