  1. I'm wondering if I have PIE as my GP has never told me I have it. People think I pick my acne spots, which I don't. I don't know what this scarring is resulting from. I'm worried about my skin. I have searched on the internet the different types of acne scars and I have come across three which I don't have. My acne scars look nothing like ice pick scars or box scars. I have quite light skin - almost olive and these red marks sometimes appear purple and blue when I look very closely. I have r
  2. Hi Everyone, I want to update the FAQ, since a common topic seems to be PIE - Post Inflammatory Erythema (redness related to acne, popped pimples, infection, chemical burns, over-exfoliation, cuts, scrapes, scratches, sunburn, ... it goes away when you press on the area). Unlike PIH - Post Inflammatory Hiperpigmentation which is permanent changes in the skins pigment. I have seen a few posters recently come to the acne scar sub with PIE issues and they want solutions for their scars.
  3. I've been trying to find solutions for my red marks (i've included pictures, 2 with camera flash one w/o) I'm pretty sure it's post inflammatory erythema since they are all red/pinkish color. Some of these marks i've had for years and nothing seems to make them fade. But i will say finally some on my cheeks started fading a while back but seemed to have stopped. I've tried Vitamin C (topical and oral 500MGx2) and currently am on Tretinoin 0.04% gel but i haven't seen any improvement (ive used it
  4. So I had my very first microneedling appointment done yesterday (April 17th, 2017) I am on the end of my tenth week of Dans regimen, so I figured it would be a good time to jump-start my scar revision process. The doctor used 2.5mm needles, using the "Rejuvapen." I only had my cheek areas treated, because those ares are really my only areas of concern. I'm dealing with mild-moderate rolling scars, possibly even a boxcar scar or two, however, all of these scars are very smooth, and do not exceed
  5. This is me 3 days shy of my 2 month mark since the start of Dan's regimen. In fact, these photos are doing my skin justice, because the red marks are far more evident in person. Here's a quick re-cap of my past 2 months. So I began February 9th, 2017 and have done mostly everything exactly as outlined in the regimen's instructional video, and text. I say "mostly" because I did experiment with reducing my BP to only 1.5 pumps for a couple of days during my week 6. I tried this because th
  6. Post as of 18/02/2016 Hello folks, I am 18(5'8"and weigh 65 kg)and of Southeast Asian-American descent. After battling with acne for over five years,I finally got accutane! You can think that my acne isn't bad enough to start accutane, but the real reason for starting the drug is that I'm extremely prone to scarring(whether I pick or not),even from whiteheads!I have also got body acne-nothing bad but quite extensive.Another thing that bothers me is that the scars also have Post Inflammatory Erythe
  7. I made the mistake believing that my red marks were PIH and wondered why they didnt respond to normal PiH techniques. They've stubbornly resisted AHA, BHA, Chemicals Peels, Hydroquinone, Kojic Acid, Niacinamide, Tretinion, and Vitamin C. In fact these treatments made my red marks worse. It wasnt until I read a post on Reddit that I learned that my 'PIH' actually was 'PIE' instead. The only thing that fades it is time and/or laser treatments . Sucks right? VBEAM Per
  8. A week and a half ago (2/09) I used Walgreen's antibacterial bandages that have 0.1% Benzalkonium Chloride. I used these for two days, replacing them when I felt they were getting old. I then experienced a delayed onset of irritation within 48 hours later and stopped using them. I had one patch on my forehead and one patch on my cheek, in the exact square of the medicated non-stick pad. I went to the dermatologist immediately, and she gave me Synalar to use for a week on the affected areas to re
  9. I am a darker skin person (somewhere between types 4 and 5). This is what I learned about acne and post acne discolorations: First of all, if you get acne/bumps, find out the cause. Many times the cause is the skin or hair care products you use. It could also be because of something you eat - a food or supplement. It could be a maintenance routine like shaving or waxing. When you have acne, try dropping all topicals for a while except like a standard sunscreen and face wash/soap that you kno
  10. I'm currently on my 4th month of accutane (20mg) and ive started to notice a lot of scarring and red marks. I plan to come off accutane in around a month or so. What are some treatments available for my scrs afterwards?
  11. Hello, I just made this account because I really need to know what skin condition I have. I took the picture with flash so it might look a little more pale than in person, but not that much of a difference. It's basically the same color, but the flash altered it just a teensy bit. It happened the first year of college. I started breaking out due to stress and eating junk food. I constantly touched it because I was insecure about my face. Now the bumps are gone, but I am left with these r
