  1. Hey guys, I just wanted to post something different on this forum. I have suffered with acne for 6 years, I have literally tried everything possible and through those six years I have experienced an array of emotions. I have been angry, sad, lonely, depressed, and insecure. I'm not going to tell you that I am at my optimum confidence level or that I even love myself now or more. It seems like people promote that they love themselves after they make their flaws disappear, but that's not always
  2. Milk Free Diet Cleared My Cystic Acne, And.... ... Eliminating Sugar and most High GI/GL (Glycemic Index/Glycemic Load) foods cleared the rest of my 'white heads'. This worked for me, and will work for you. What I have been able to learn and understand for the past several years is that each and every person is different, and everyone will need to find what works for them and them alone. No one can do it for you, but this will do more for you than you could ever imagine. If anyone wa

    35 Days! - Positivity.

Today I thought I'd try to be overly optimistic and see the good in the bad in having acne and accutane side-effects (am I allowed to say bad when being overly optimistic?)...'and see the good in the not so good'?...'the good in the lesser good'?... I'm gonna see good stuff in stuff. I'll start off with acne, seeing as acne's first before accutane. However, metaphorically speaking, if acne and accutane were waiting at a bus stop I'd hope accutane wouldn't show an ounce of chivalry and say "a
  4. I've had acne since I was ten, and for the past 3 years it's grown into an extremely severe condition. Overall, I've managed to keep my emotions and feelings towards my face under wraps. But recently I looked into a mirror and I completely broke down. I hysterically cried for about an hour. Now it's not like this is the first time I've noticed how bad my acne has gotten in the past three years. In fact, prior to this day I looked at my face very closely in the mirror, every single day, and just
  5. Over the last couple of days I've looked over quite a few topics in this section, and noticed a few in particular; like someone trying to force indifference to their acne, or the 'how do you feel about our acne today?' thread. Well, I wanted to bring a bit more positivity to the mix, not just tolerance. Which leads me to my question: what sort of things in your daily life, or even in that rare occasion when everything lines up make you feel GOOD about yourself despite your acne issues? I r
  6. Hello all, my name is Ross and I'm a senior in high school and I want to share how I go about dealing with my scars. But first, my acne story. Through upper elementary school, middle school, and the first year of high school, my skin was flawless. I actually would stare and poke fun at kids with acne (karma maybe?). Then sophomore year, I started getting zits on my cheek, peaking at probably 10-15 on each side (1st picture). Fast forward three months and minocycline and epiduo cleared my up be

  8. (Beware for the dreaded long long long post! I hope some of you have the patience to read and help! ) Hey guys, so in just over a week I will be starting Accutane. I'm, understandable, terrified and could really do with some advice, suggestions and, overall, positivity. Some basic info; I'm a 23 year old guy from England. I've always suffered with mild acne (as in, I'd always have one or two spots somewhere on my body) and dryness/redness around my nose and the surrounding area (looked
  9. I'd just like to say that I went out in public for literally the first time with friends without make up on! It is a very good skin day for me, and it was admittedly an unexpected midnight trip to a bar with very dim lighting, but that brief minute when I walked out into the fluorescent-lit hallway of my college residence until we went outside, baring my acne/scars/red marks ... that was terrifying. But liberating. Maybe it was just the protection of darkness that gave me confidence, but I
  10. Hello everyone, I hope you are well. I was a member here way back around 2004 to 2009 . Those were the worst times of my emotional battle with acne. I enjoyed talking to people on this board because I felt supported and people get me, without feeling like I'm being judged. Eventually, people stopped posting and I slowly moved on. I stopped getting active acne ( I guess it goes away on its on as you get older? I don't know). But the scars are here and I have lots of them, and they are here f
  11. Hello everyone! I'm on day 98 of Spiro, today makes exactly 14 weeks. I got super discouraged on Saturday because my skin looked terrible. My left cheek was so red and irritated that it was all I thought about all day. So I've been trying to drink lots and lots of water and be extra gentle when I wash my face. Yesterday morning I used my Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser and last night I used the Dove Sensitive Bar Soap and used my Clarisonic. After that, I used the Boscia Luminizing Black Mask that I ju
  12. As I've pretty much given up any hope of finding a physical solution to my skin problems (I'm still getting breakouts despite having been on the Regimen for over a year now and the BP also makes my skin really red) I was just wondering if anyone has any good ways of keeping their thinking positive or increasing their self-esteem? I'm moving into university halls on Sunday and am dreading it because I've just been blessed with yet another horrible breakout. I look like a monster and am running ou

    Day 44

I dont think anything is going on. My chin and around my mouth area looks horrible. My left cheek is still awful. I dont look good basically but its okay because im going home on friday to sunday and hopefully will feel more relaxed. My mental health is a lot better. Such an annoyance though. I think bad skin is the worse thing ever and it really effects your self-confidence more than people can imagine. Anyway update on specifics Forehead: very spotty but flatter than before Left Cheek: a b
  14. *backstorySo long story short (kinda) my skin has been clear and almost perfect all throughout my teenage years. Up until I turned 20 and had a realllly shitty break up which I believe the stress caused me to get acne. It was pretty terrible from going from having clear skin to pretty much my entire cheeks are covered with aggravated acne. I knew it was an internal issue because I would have a couple spots on my back or chest as well. This lasted a year and a half of me supplementing, cutting da
