  1. Hello, I tried one pass at shaving against the grain, didn't do good. It left me with a really dark brown spot with red undertones. The darkness has faded a little but it is still very prevalent as you can see. Can someone help me figure out what this is and what I can do to heal it?
  2. I dont know if this is melasma, PIH, PIE, but this uneven skintone has remained for over 5 years. There are some indentations, so am wondering if the indentations are affecting the color?
  3. I have a variety of PIE and PIH scars that I got from skin picking. I picked at them over and over again so they're pretty red and brown. There's a few on my face and a few on my body. I've tried a lot of products that are recommended for these scars but nothing has really helped. I don't know what to do next. I'm thinking of dermarolling but I'm not sure. What should I do next? I can't afford laser treatments for multiple areas of my face and body as it'll cost too much. But, I'm considering it
  4. Is it ok to get Vbeam 2-3 days after subcision? Subcision causes blood to pool under the skin so I'm wondering if vbeam will have negative affect on the subcision outcome. My derm think its ok to have vbeam afterwards. Wondering if anyone has done that or heard about it?
  5. I have a red/pink mark from a cystic pimple above my lip which resolved about 3 months ago. The color of the "scar", or PIE as I think it is, is about the same color as my lip. There is a small indented scar near where the center of the pimple used to be, but I'm most concerned about the redness surrounding that area, which is quite visible in some lighting, especially when I am smiling. I have been reading a ton online about PIE and options for treatment, and I'm expecting that this will im
  6. Has anyone tried the carbon spectra peel?
  7. Hey guys. I wanted to show my PIE / PIH progress from a major breakout in April 2016 to this point. I've had acne since I was 11, so 19 years in total but I have had 2 rounds of accutane which gave me completely clear skin for 4 years the first time and 1.5 years the second time before relapse. I have some superficial scarring but mostly PIE and PIH that seems to last forever on my cheeks! I was was able to calm down my skin and clear most of the acne by late August 2016 (4-5 months of cysts,
  8. Hello everyone on Acne.org, I never thought I would end up posting on here but I’m at a dead end with my skin and it’s starting to make everything else harder in my life. I’m 20 and I’ve had acne for 2 years now and just finished a 1 year course of accurate. In the photos you can see my skin 2 weeks post accutane and one in direct lighting. I don’t know what to do and at this point I feel like I’ll always feel demented, I just need some advice on what I should do.
  9. Hey guys, Was wondering when your Post Inflammatory Erythema faded? These are the red marks you get after acne/trauma and will disappear when they are pressed and then come back when they aren't being pressed, so annoying man! (Victims of PIH are normally people with darker complexions and the marks are usually brown and PIE is red/purple) Just wanted some more information, there's a dude on here called 'bio_nerd' and he has loads of information about it on his profile but he hasn't been a

  11. I'm wondering if I have PIE as my GP has never told me I have it. People think I pick my acne spots, which I don't. I don't know what this scarring is resulting from. I'm worried about my skin. I have searched on the internet the different types of acne scars and I have come across three which I don't have. My acne scars look nothing like ice pick scars or box scars. I have quite light skin - almost olive and these red marks sometimes appear purple and blue when I look very closely. I have r

  13. Will the Dark Acne in the Middle Become Scars? Is This Severe Acne? Do i Need Accutane? Kindly Reply
  14. Hi Everyone, I want to update the FAQ, since a common topic seems to be PIE - Post Inflammatory Erythema (redness related to acne, popped pimples, infection, chemical burns, over-exfoliation, cuts, scrapes, scratches, sunburn, ... it goes away when you press on the area). Unlike PIH - Post Inflammatory Hiperpigmentation which is permanent changes in the skins pigment. I have seen a few posters recently come to the acne scar sub with PIE issues and they want solutions for their scars.
  15. I am 1 month on Accutane and wondering if I should do anything to help with fading these marks.
  16. Hello everyone! This is my 2nd time posting here so forgive me if I made a mistake in terms of where I am posting. So I had perfect skin up until I turned 20. I never washed my face or put moisturizer on and I had clear skin that wasn't dry or anything. Then I cut my hair extremely short and I started breaking out. Then I began using olive oil to clean off my make up and I think that's where it all went down hill. I'm left with these red marks. They are a huge cluster of bumps on both s
  17. Hi all, I have had pie for about a year now, after I made the mistake of popping and irritating a cyst. The PIE has gotten worse over a year, even though I've taken care to moisturize and avoid UV sunlight. I've also applied 4% panoxyl BP to treat other acne spots. The first image is the pie from a year ago, and the next 2 pictures of are my pie now. I was wondering how long it could take to heal the pie and how I can reduce the redness. Should I seek professional treatment, or should I wai
  18. So I had my very first microneedling appointment done yesterday (April 17th, 2017) I am on the end of my tenth week of Dans regimen, so I figured it would be a good time to jump-start my scar revision process. The doctor used 2.5mm needles, using the "Rejuvapen." I only had my cheek areas treated, because those ares are really my only areas of concern. I'm dealing with mild-moderate rolling scars, possibly even a boxcar scar or two, however, all of these scars are very smooth, and do not exceed
  19. This is me 3 days shy of my 2 month mark since the start of Dan's regimen. In fact, these photos are doing my skin justice, because the red marks are far more evident in person. Here's a quick re-cap of my past 2 months. So I began February 9th, 2017 and have done mostly everything exactly as outlined in the regimen's instructional video, and text. I say "mostly" because I did experiment with reducing my BP to only 1.5 pumps for a couple of days during my week 6. I tried this because th
  20. I had a massive breakout this summer from overexfoliating and damaging my skin barrier. Currently, I use aloe vera and jojoba oil to moisturize (avoiding most chemical products, for the time being), which seems to keep things in control. I cleanse once at night with CeraVe Foaming Cleanser, because my skin gets really dry if I used it in the morning as well. This is the worst my skin's ever been, and I'm losing hope that the PIH/PIE won't ever fade.
  21. I made the mistake believing that my red marks were PIH and wondered why they didnt respond to normal PiH techniques. They've stubbornly resisted AHA, BHA, Chemicals Peels, Hydroquinone, Kojic Acid, Niacinamide, Tretinion, and Vitamin C. In fact these treatments made my red marks worse. It wasnt until I read a post on Reddit that I learned that my 'PIH' actually was 'PIE' instead. The only thing that fades it is time and/or laser treatments . Sucks right? VBEAM Per
  22. Hello there! I'm 14, female and I've had hormonal acne since I was about 11. I started having my period around age 11 and I developed A LOT of acne on my chin, back and cheeks. My mom took me to a dermatologist and she said I should try birth control for my acne and I did that and it worked really well until I was 13 and that pill just seemed to stop working for me and I broke out really bad with lots of white heads and pimples all over my cheeks, back and chin -.- I started a different birth c
  23. Hello, Within the last couple of months I've gained interest in finally getting my acne scars fixed. At the same time, I am scared of getting the wrong treatment which is why I plan to schedule an appointment with a board certified dermatologist. Even then I am aware that unwanted side effects are always possible even under professional examination. That being said, I would like some additional feedback as far as what treatments some members/administrators of this forum would advise me to
  24. Post as of 18/02/2016 Hello folks, I am 18(5'8"and weigh 65 kg)and of Southeast Asian-American descent. After battling with acne for over five years,I finally got accutane! You can think that my acne isn't bad enough to start accutane, but the real reason for starting the drug is that I'm extremely prone to scarring(whether I pick or not),even from whiteheads!I have also got body acne-nothing bad but quite extensive.Another thing that bothers me is that the scars also have Post Inflammatory Erythe
