  1. 2012-07-12: I hereby pledge to stop picking at my face, back, and neck. In the past 3 months, my acne has improved a lot due to oral doxycycline. However, as fresh new pimples become more rare, the old scabs become more noticeable. I need to stop reopening these wounds, I need to let them heal. I have tried to swear off picking before, but this time is different, because I am going to be accountable to all of you. I am going to post once each day reporting my success or failure. If I stop
  2. I've been able to control my acne for a while now. First, using Paula's Choice products and now I'm using mostly oils (predominantly coconut oil). The only thing is that for SOME REASON, the clarity of my skin gives me the excuse to pick at any and all blackheads (and occasional whitehead) on my face. Since I've only ever been able to deal with these by picking, I don't even think TWICE about squeezing them out. But...of course...I end up with inflamed zits around the places I pick afterward
  3. I'm hoping that I'm putting this in the right thread here but I need some help with healing a couple of open sores that I have ATM. Pretty much I've come to accept the fact that I have a problem with picking/popping things on my face and I tend to do it more when I'm under stress. I've been under more stress as of late so long story short I was stupid and picked a couple sores on my face lol. To avoid me picking at these more for the next couple of days (having these come to gross, crusty sca

    Peeled Acne Scab

Hey guys. So a couple months ago I had a small whitehead. I took a towel and I tried to rub the whitehead off. Unfortunately, I caused a burn on my skin by rubbing to hard. Anyways, a scab began to form and I peeled the scab off because I am an idiot. Anyways its been 2 months and the skin is still sort of red and pink. Should I try to start exfoliating this skin to fade these marks?
  5. Okay so I'm 15 and I've had acne since I was like 10... it really sucks. It has left me with no self confidence at all. I've gotten bullied for it and I literally can hardly look in the mirror without wanting to cry its gotten so bad. I need some kind of help... nothing works for me. I've tried natural remedies like the caveman regimen, african black soap, tons of homeade masks, and the OCM. I've tried some lush products, proactiv, and all the drugstore brands. A nurse told me to try just plain

The Night Is Darkest Before The Dawn

Today is day two, and I have to say that despite being in an absolutely foul mood; I'm proud of myself. I was able to go the whole day without picking. However, due to the fact that I am in a bad mood I am going to keep things very brief. - Didn't pick today in the shower, which is one of the main places that I pick. - my GP is a useless, unprofessional twat. (I don't really want to get into details but he basically treated me like an idiot and was rude the entire time.) - Got home from wo

    Just A Hiccup

Things are going pretty well so far after yesterday's slip up picking the nostril pore, it got a bit swollen later in the day so I squeezed it and lots of gunk came out (very gross I know!) then last night it still felt like there was something lurking inside so I squeezed again and the last of it shot out (haha so disgusting yet so satisfying - I have issues)...when I woke up this morning it had gone down so now there is a small coverable scab, woop! So in spite of slipping up yesterday, I

    Day 28

Day 28 - Same as yesterday, I had to wear full coverage make up so I ended up using my dr. jart bb cream. After I took it off, I had 8 more new clogged pores which I picked out. Got out 7 clean and easy and clear, but one of them I broke skin. Its gonna scab. Ugh. dr jart silver label u are horrible. It doesn't last that long either. it looks good for the first 2 hrs. and then it starts cracking. not flaking, but little tiny cracks everywhere, like a dry desert floor. I think my skin oil dissolv
  9. Hello! I had a nasty zit a couple days ago which I popped before it was ready. Then trying to fix the issue yesterday I tried picking at it just a bit, which of course made it much worse. I have been using polysporin triple and Lamaisl as a treatment so far but no improvements. Really need some help guys!! I have attached photos of the progression. Any tips or tricks are welcomed. Thank you!!

    Day 13

Day 13- Didn't pick today. Now that im seeing good results, ive started to care less and obsess less about picking at my skin. I can't believe I didn't do this sooner! Im hoping I don't cave in I shoulda went to the derm years ago! I was always scared of the initial break out so I put it off till now, but I didn't get any initial break outs... and apparently you're not suppose to with antibiotics which does make sense since its suppose to kill the bacteria, not purge it out. harharhar

    Day 8

Day 8 - picked at two spots.. one spot on the side of my left face. honestly I don't even know what I was picking at cuz.... yeah I don't know. welp, welcome new red mark number one. then i picked at a little bump (grain like sebum) on my jawline. welcome new red mark number two. disappointed at myself for the jawline pick. it was there, minding its own business and I go bothering it. I need to remind myself, i'd rather have bad texture skin rather than weird color skin. if the bumps are fle

    Aversion Therapy

I am happy to report that since my last post there have been no major picking incidents. Admittedly I have picked a small whitehead and 2 comedones but I'd class these as pretty insignificant. Which leads me to believe that snapping an elastic band on my wrist actually works! Hurrah! The first time I tried this it was with a hair band and I only pinged it when I wanted to pick and it wasn't very effective. This time around I am using an elastic band (which hurts A LOT more than a hair band!) and

    Day 17

Day 17 - picked at two spots today. damn, and I was doing so well... but I needed some sort of relief. Life has been a bitch this week. I've also been only getting 4 hrs of sleep the past 5 days... which is why I think I got that pimple I mentioned in my last two blogs. Its most likely a cyst :'( I see the white head, but its too deep for me to get! ahhhh the horror of cysts. It hurts. Ive been drowning it in duac every morning and night, although I doubt that'll be much help since its expired d

    Picking And Infection Cycle

Alright so I've had this constant cycle of ALMOST having completely clear skin with the small exception of a tiny pimple (not even a white head) then I screw it all up. I pop it whether stuff comes out or not it becomes red and inflamed. Bottomline GROSS. Can't cover it with makeup, it scabs up, and falls off. Then my skin clears up within a couple days (maybe 4 or 5) and my face is back to 'normal' then I will pick at another one and find myself again with the popped pimple problem. Yesterd

    Update 5/7/13

Updates! My skin has been doing great and I've been picking less! I think I picked two times within the week.. and it was the same spot haha, didn't do much damage I've really kicked the habit of gluing myself to the mirror and killing my skin. I just got a renewal on my minocycline prescription but my derm said that they ran out of duac samples! D: so I might be getting the BP and the clindamycin separately within the next week..... I cant wait for that! As for pimples, I got one on my rig
  16. Hello I just wanted to start a thread on no picking. I've tried for a couple years now and I feel that I am finally determined to do it after seeing all my scars. I only break out in big pimples on my forehead. That's the only spot I pick. I do occasionally get breakouts around my nose but not really. My big goal is 23 days. IDK why but if I make it that far I feel that I won't turn back! Right now, pretty bad breakout on forehead with a couple tiny red ones on my cheek. Picked like CRAZY to

    Temptation

So I picked the near-corner-of-mouth spot...it was hurting quite a lot and needed to relieve some of the pressure, I then looked at the rest of my skin and avoided picking the ominous bump above my eyebrow but apparently couldn't resist a little comedone that was jutting out of my forehead. 2 spots...I can deal with that - not great but not a disaster. Also luckily I think the comedone was ready because the dot left behind is so tiny that I haven't even bothered with concealer. However after

    Day 1

So i'm starting this blog to hold me accountable for picking at my skin. I'm very good at disciplining myself when needed, but for some reason I can't stop picking at my skin! I tell myself "NO MORE PICKING" but 10 min later, I find myself in front of the mirror... touching my face for any bumps :'( and then pick pick pick. Hopefully, by writing this blog, i'll be able to force myself to stop - for the sake of each entry! I know one reason why I haven't stopped picking is because I haven't

    Meh

So I'm dong OK I suppose. I fucking picked again. It's been harder to stop than I imagined it would be. I like to think I have good self- control. I became a vegetarian when I was 13, I pulled myself out of my alcoholism that I've had since I was 14, I overcame my OCD on my own when I was 10(officially diagnosed later on), but I can't stop picking. It's very frustrating. I'm starting to think my picking is actually a manifestation of my OCD, because it is quite obsessive and senseless in nature.

    Forehead Redness

Hi, I am 14 years old and have struggled with light-moderate pimples and acne since I was 12. I was on the Regimen from October 5th, 2014 until mid-January of 2015, which is when I ran out of the Regimen cleanser and the moisturizer. I continued with the Regimen BP, and just purchased my second bottle of it. It did do wonders for my skin, but I still have little clogged pores and blackheads all over my forehead, nose, and chin. I wash my face with Cetaphil Oily Face Wash twice a day, apply BP tw
  22. Hi guys. Ever since starting the regimen two months ago, I have been trying and mostly succeeding with my horrible skin picking which has caused a lot of hyper pigmentation on one side of my face. Last night I picked badly for the first time in awhile. So badly there were and are indents in my skin where i ripped scabs off, one tear the size of a dime. They bled a lot. It happened within probably 2 minutes and the whole time my brain was telling me to "stop!!!! immediately!" but I just kept th

Day 1 - Make It Stop

Sigh. I'm back. Again. I had a blog here before, however my picking has not gotten better, in fact, it has gotten worse, and now I have done so much damage to my face that it is starting scar. I fairly good skin, though I do get break outs from time to time, but that's not really the issue. It doesn't really matter what my skin is like because I will ATTACK it anyways. I have to say that it has definitely gotten worse since my accident in last august (2013). I cut my toes off with
  24. After struggling my entire life with acne - (which became horribly worse in my early 40's), I am clear and so much happier. I didn't realize how much time and emotion I invested in treatments, picking, make-up and insecurity. I am very happy to answer any questions you may have. Thanks for taking a peek. It will get better, I promise you. Photo one, was my average daily skin appearance. Photo two, no make up, just face cream. Photo three, make up. I used 60 mg.'s Accutane, Aquaphor on face and
