  1. I found this article on Yahoo. I thought it was an interesting read. http://health.yahoo.com/experts/skintype/1...-for-your-skin/
  2. This is not necessarily related to acne but we've been discussing nutritional issues not related to acne lately The China Study has been called the "gran prix of epidemiology" It is an epidemiological study lasted 20 years involving more than 900.000 subjects from age 9 to 90 Althought the author (Tony Campbell Ph.D) admits that the findings doesn't represent an absolete scientific truth (what does after all?) it provides very important detary guidelines that can't be ignored Althought the Ch
  3. For the past month I've been taking fish oil, and it has helped curb my sebum production considerably. However, when I started taking green tea, it began to hinder the effects of the fish oil. This is because of the EGCG content of the green tea. EGCG is a catechin (a polyphenol), which means that it constitutes roughly 25% of the dry weight of a fresh tea leaf and also enhances the metabolism of fats: "Green tea or, more accurately, the polyphenols in green tea, appear to activate our bodies' "
  4. I would be interested in communicating with people who have had exoderm, venner kellson, or stone phenol peels. I had a modified light phenol peel, commonly known as an exoderm along with abrasion to the individual scars on the second day. Not only did I not see any improvement but I was left with more shallow scarring, small raised scar tissue around the indentations, and hypopigmentation. These peels are being marketed as light phenol peels that are supposed to be much safer than the Baker Gor
  5. ok heres my story, although i seem to be having success with one scar by doing a tca cross myself, i went to see a new derm the other day about a phenol peel. she said my skin wasnt bad enough for even a tca peel, ive already had 4 blue peels with some effect. however, although my skin has mild scarring, i really notice it in the light, i have lots of different types of scarring on my cheeks and forehead and all she suggested was an agera peel. i had this peel but i dont see the point because i
  6. Part I: Avoiding Harmful Products When Buying Products Don't Buy Cleansers That: 1. Contain harsh surfectants like sodium lauryl sulfate and sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate. 2. Are in bar form. These contain harsh cleansing agents like sodium cocoate, and the ingredients that keep them in bar form can be absorbed into the skin to clog pores. Also, many bar soaps have alkaline pH levels, which actually encourages bacterial growth. 3. Are daily scrubs containing uneven particles like wa
  7. I was surprised to see that White Tea was proven to be more healthier and producing more health benefits than green tea. I used to always think green tea was the gem of them all, but it turns out I was wrong. Since white tea is picked at the earliest stage, earlier than what green tea is, it retains much more polyphenols and antioxidants and they are much more potent hence being more powerful in promoting detox,anti-carcenogenic, anti-bacterial etc. I have been using green tea to supplement my
  8. A little bit of everything: diet, skin care, medications Just want to share with you guys what I’ve been told or have learnt gradually over the years…. 1. My acne history I think my acne began when I was 13 or 14. It was only minimal pimples at that time and I had bad acnes on my chest and back. Later on when these body acnes retreated, I started to get really bad inflammatory zits on my T-zones, most of them whiteheads, they didn’t scar too much but they left my pores mor
  9. I have been following this forum for about three years, and after experiencing about 85% improvement in reducing my scars I thought I would share my story. I am 40 years old, male, and I live in SW Missouri. I began getting acne around age 19 which transitioned to cystic acne, no more than 1 or 2 pimples at a time. Never a bad enough breakout to see a dermatologist. My first scar developed in an area which became infected because of a repeated in grown hair. When the inflammation subsided
  10. I'm talking for Fitzpatrick types III-V (asian, hispanic, mediterranean) and specifically hypopigmentation. My instinct tells me that the phenol carries a much higher risk of hypopigmentation than the dermabrasion. Any opinions, thoughts, grievances from either?
  11. I ordered this from this company lef.org great company by the way but yeah i was wondering.. does anyone hae experience with this? they said it was their best fish oil available and it cost me 32 bucks so it better be good... 12. I've researched on artichoke and it seems to have many good benefits.... ************ Cynara scolymus (Artichoke) ACTION Bitter, Lowers blood cholesterol, diuretic, Liver tonic, lowers blood sugar. Cynara scolymus, like Carduus marianus protects the liver against toxins and infection (Samochowiec, L et al. 1971). In addition, it stimulates regeneration of liver cells (Maros, T. et al. 1966, 1968). The following effects on the liver has been demonstrated: *Promotion of blood circulati
  13. I did a 12.5% TCA complex peel from julie on my stomach because i had some small brown marks to remove. I applied many layers of the peel because the marks were quite dark and i wanted the peel to go deeper. Anyhow, the skin turned brown and came off 6 days later. But to my HORROR, the skin beneath isn't light pink! It turned out to be darker than it was before!!! The worse thing is, when i applied the tca on those brown marks, the tca spread over the mark and after the skin peeled off, i am lef
  14. has anyone had a deep (phenol) chemical peel? from what ive read about this procedure i dont see how it could not greatly help acne scars? Im really thinking about getting this done because everything else has been completley useless for me. Do you guys think a phenol peel will do wonders on acne scars?
  15. has any1 tried any of the products of www.skinculture.com? I was considering trying it out but it is quite expensive. Plus it says that the active ingrediants that it uses are Resorcinol and Phenol. Phenol kinda makes me nervous because ive heard a lot of horror stories about it. I dont wanna turn pure white and end up looking like Micheal Jackson. PLEASE NO LOL:P

  20. Anyone know anything about TCA cross for red marks? For those of you that dont know, TCA cross is method where by a strong percentage of tca is used to spot treat on an individual indented scar. In some people, the scar rebuilds itself and forms into new flatter skin. I am curious as to weather or not this could work on red marks, the pigmentation probably couldn't be as deep as the scar tissue, in theory it should work... A little bit of history: -I had a full face TCA peel at 30 percent som
