  1. I'm sure you guys probably see these posts all the time but I felt that I needed somebody else's opinion on my personal situation. So recently my dermatologist prescribed me oratane to treat my acne. He explained to me about the common side effects briefly and the ways in which I need to take care of my skin during the course. I happily agreed at the time but it wasn't until I got home and began to do some research online when I began having some second thoughts about it. I have read how the
  2. Hi guys. I am happy to say that I have had my acne under control now for almost 2 years!! to do this I have been using retin-a micro 1% once a day (now once every other day) and just cetaphyl as face wash. But I am now having concerns over this small bump (now two bumps) that has been on my skin for almost a year. It's skin color, painless, and has no "feeling" to it. Honestly I wouldn't even know it was there if the pores were not gone. Now I have developed what seems to be the same bump in a d
  3. So basically, a few months ago i had a horrible cystic breakout, and for a while i've been left with some prominent hyerpigmentation. Progress has been rather slow, and i have noticed subtle fading with the help of prescribed Azelaic Acid. Yet every time i look in a mirror, i become fearful that when these marks do leave, i will be left with more permanent scarring. If any of you could take a look, and from personal, or secondary experience suggest whether i should worry or not, that would b
  4. So I took accutane from August to December and it worked great. It was 10mg a day, the bumped up to 20mg for a month, then back down to 10mg a day. It worked great until I noticed about a month ago my acne returned but significantly less harsh than I had a year ago. I'm thinking about taking 5mg a day for 4 to 6 months. Would that be too low of a dosage? Did anyone else have the same experience?
  5. I took Accutane 4 years ago. After two years, my acne returned in full force. I was getting cystic acne just like before. I fell back into the cycle of taking antibiotics (minocycline, doxycycline, etc) but I knew that wasn't a permanent solution. I was even considering a second round of Accutane. After seeing how clear my skin could be with the first round of Accutane, I just wanted to have clear skin again! It had been such a blessing not having to think about the blemishes on my face. When yo
  6. Hi there, I have been on accutane for just over two months now, first on 30 mg/day, then 45mg/day (i weigh 60kg.) Just before starting my third month I noticed that my left eye was very red and irritated. I bought eye drops and started my highest dose - 60mg/day, for 5 days before the redness drove me mad. I googled 'accutane red eye' and found dozens of horror stories of persistent, long-term accutane damage to eyes - including chronic dry eyes. Obviously this has terrified me, and four day
  7. I am a 16 year old male (5'8 and about 58kg) and Im going on accutane (6 month course) on 17th of March (Next month) and have recently read that many people say they have erectile dysfunction after being on it... Is this true and what are the chances of me getting it? Are there guys out there who haven't suffered from erectile dysfunction after going on accutane, and the ones who have, have you found a cure?? Or is it temporary? Sorry, I have so many questions.. I don't want to regret it, th
  8. I feel like I have a decision to make regarding my health and my acne, and I am divided as to what to do. i am a 22 year old female who has been on Accutane a long time ago: 8 years ago. I started my course when I was about to turn fifteen and I think I was on it for 5 or 6 months. Started at 40 and got ramped up. My acne went away but, alas, slowly crept back around the two year mark. I've managed to keep my acne mild, I use epiduo and am on a birth control that doesn't worsen my acne,
  9. Hello, my doctor only perscribed me 40mg per day for 6 months even tho I wanted 80mg. I know some will say 80mg is too much( I weight 65kg), however I REALLY want to make sure it cures me permanently, I can't afford a second round. Is 40mg enough really?

    Post Accutane eye problems

Hello, this is my first post on here so bare with me. I am a 20 year old female and I have done 2 courses of Accutane. The first course when I was 17 for 7 months, and the second course I had just finished a month and a half ago and lasted 5 months. My first course I didn’t have any severe side effects, just dryness to the skin and hair. Everything went back to normal once I was off the tane. This time my eyes began to get very dry, they became bloodshot, I took a steroid drop once while I was
  11. I look around for this question and people say a acne red marks can't be permanent.I was on 40mg of accutane for 8 months,in the first month I got the worst inital breakout anyone could see, it was ... all over my face. I took prednison for a few weeks and 1 1/2 months later the most of it was gone. Since then probably somewhere around August, my face has been pretty smooth, but very red. I've tried 50% glycolic peels(the last one for acctually 42 mins) , I've used differin from the first da
  12. Okay so basically this nasty cyst thing popped up right under my nose about a week and a half ago and it was huuuuuge...I mean it was probably big enough to land a plane on haha. anyway I had a dermatologist appointment a week after it popped up so while I was there I decided to have her inject it with that steroid stuff because it was so big and so ugly I just wanted it gone. That was my first steroid shot for a cyst, I got it about 3-4 days ago and anyway I'm just wondering if I should be conc
  13. 2 years ago, I've had facial procedures done on my face every month. I had this one stubborn cyst on my jawline, which was taken out by the lady. Months later, it came back and it brought a friend. Ever since then, these cysts never went away. They always fluctuate in size, sometimes big sometimes flat, but it's persistent. It depends on my stress level, or the amount of sleep I get. I'm taking accutane right now for my acne. It's helped eliminate blackheads which I've had for the past 10 years,
  14. A week and a half ago (2/09) I used Walgreen's antibacterial bandages that have 0.1% Benzalkonium Chloride. I used these for two days, replacing them when I felt they were getting old. I then experienced a delayed onset of irritation within 48 hours later and stopped using them. I had one patch on my forehead and one patch on my cheek, in the exact square of the medicated non-stick pad. I went to the dermatologist immediately, and she gave me Synalar to use for a week on the affected areas to re
  15. I've been lurking on the forums for a while and finally decided to make an account because I have a question that I can't seem to find the answer to. First here's a little background on my skin: Started breaking out when I was 17 (I'm 19 now). Close to a year ago I went to a dermatologist, and was put on bp, clindamyicin (sp?), and tretinoin .025. The combo got me almost 100% clear in 6 months, but was still irritating my skin, so we switched my regimen to differin (.1%) and minocycline

    Needing help

I need help. My husband and I really want to have a baby, but my acne has been a problem for a while now - and we've been putting off having a baby for me to try and take care of my acne (because not many acne treatments are safe to use while pregnant or breastfeeding). Is there any sort of permanent solution? Here are some thoughts/situations I'm in: From my understanding, benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid are not safe to use while pregnant/breastfeeding. I'm kind of scared of

    Artefill..

i've been doing some research, but wanted to get some opinions of peoples experience or use with Artefill Derma Filler, which is a permanent filler? I got the number to the trail location here in San Diego which they are working on using it for acne scars and I'm wondering if I should try and be part of the trail process for my acne scars.. I've done subcision, and saline injections, which didn't work that well.. Any info is greatly appreicated.. thanks
  18. Hello! I have had a medium sized patch of redness on my face for the past two years or so. I don't actually know what caused it, but I think it may have been from a small ingrown hair infection I had. It does not change and does not get worse, so I haven't ever been concerned about it, but I recently went to the dermatologist to try to find an answer and was told it was "possibly erythema due to telangiectasia". He said, if this is the case, there is no medicine to alleviate the redness. D
  19. I got a pimple 4 months back which was large on my face in the middle of the cheek which used to hurt. It gradually reduced in size and now is small red pump on my cheak that doesnt seem to fade. Any idea what could this be? Is it going to be there permanently? Anything that I can do to get rid of it? Note:I did face peeling right before.
