  3. Ok, i'm really going to town on my mild-moderate acne this year and i'm determined to try and figure out what's causing this problem and how i can help myself. I'm going to try the no sugar/ yeast diet (i guess you'd call it the anti-candida diet) but i'm a little worried if the supplements i'm taking are excessive and might hinder my progress. What do any of you guys think? I take the following: 25mg of zinc twice a day Cod liver Oil 1000 mg twice a day Probiotic Acidophilus (with petcin) twice daily Flush free Niacin (500mg) three times a day Pantothenic acid (500mg) once daily I'm also thinking of taking the following as they've been suggested for people with candida Calcium magnesium caprylate 400mg Propolis tincture. Does this seem excessive? Does anything standout as wrong or unnecessary? Part of me thinks these things cant do any more harm to my acne and yet another part of me thinks i could simplify the routine by subtratcting some one or two items that may appear ineffectual. Also i guess another fear i have is that too many supplements will interfere with each other rather than contribute to my overall health. Any suggestions would be appreciated or if everythings fine then a comment saying so would be cool. Thanks for reading.

  6. ok so i am pretty convinced of the derivative form of B5, pantethine (not pantothenic acid), to help with my post-tane skin that is slowly coming back to its acne-prone state but i want to know where i can find the supplements? my nearby rite-aid pharmacy has GNC section but i haven't been there so...
  7. Hello All, I just recently started Megadosing vitamin B-5 (using 1000mg timed release divided into 4 doses a day for a total of 10g) and am taking a multivitamin (the one a day kind) as well as vitamin c (2 500 mg chewable tablets), both in the morning. Do you guys think the MV and the vitamin C will reduce the effects of the B-5?

    Starting B5...help!

Hi everyone, I'm new to the boards and would like to ask a question and would really appreciate an answer if anyone knows. It's a question that I'm sure has been asked before! Anyway, I am going to start taking vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid), and everyone is saying to take a B complex vitamin along with it. Is this what you should do? And what kind of B complex should I take, there's so many? 50,100, etc? I will be taking 10 grams a day of the B5. So that's my question that I need to know, please help!! Thank you in advance.

    IB from B5 (pantothenic acid)

I've been taking B5 for about a week and a half? Possibly a little longer more towards the2 week mark. Last week everything was AMAZING. I went almost a week with basically breakout free skin. It was wonderful! Thenon friday I got a nodule on my cheek which wasn't horrible and i dealt with it. Well as soon as it was dying and now just a redmark I noticed 2 new spots forming in the center of my forehead. (yay) SO frustrating. The next morning two new painful lesions popped up above them. I went crazy and tore up my forhead pretty bad and now I'm paying the price for it. Right now its about an hour before work and I am wanting to tear my hair out!!! I'm also suffering from 5 or 6 pretty bad red marks on my cheek that popped up at random times in between the ones on my forhead. I was trying to blame this on the fact that its the week before my period (Sorry tmi!) but i've never really noticed my acne much worse at this time than any other. Just when I thought that the break out period was over (or I'd hoped it was) an extremely extremely painful (cyst?) came up at the back of my jawline. I'm not concerned with this though because my hair will atleast cover this Also I've been taking a B 50 complex but recently I've read here that this can be bad for acne?

    pantothenic acid (b5)

i hate the vitaminshoppe. i ordered a bottle of b5 300 caps and they didnt even mention to tell me that the stuff was on back order and would take like a month to reach my house. i dont have time to wait! i need another bottle PRONTO. does anyone know any good places where i can get some online? thanks much <3
  11. I've been on antibiotics for a long time about 11 years and i finally got off it recently because of the long term effects it might have and killing the good bacteria in your body. I've also been taking b5 for about a year and it showed pretty good results considering i only take about 1 g a day of it. But i finally had the guts to get off antibiotics because usually i would break out immediately after stopping it. What im taking now are these vitamins below and is working for me, i know many of you probably took vitamins and didn't work but for others out there that want to give it a shot try this combo. vitamin c 1000 mg milk thistle go by what it says on the bottle zinc 50 mg b5 (pantothenic acid) 1 g vitamin e 400 iu (i heard it is not safe to take this amt everyday so be careful) im thinking about taking a b-complex anyway even though the b5 amt i'm taking isn't that much. And a multivitamin. I'm also looking at vitamins strictly focusing on the health of the liver.

  13. Heres my story: I had been suffering with acne until I discovered that Pantothenic Acid worked if I megadosed it daily. I was taking 3-6 grams per day and it worked to clear a good 90% of it up. But after years of that I developed some sort of Bvitamin imbalance and started getting dizzy and having panic attacks and even got gout in my foot. Those symptoms went away right when I quit the pantothenic acid, but My face started breaking out again. Over the past 3 weeks I experimented with several things and found a combo of vitamins / herbs that has cleared my acne up at an alarming rate. Twice a day (w Breakfast and dinner) I take the following handful of capsules: TUMERIC (the good kind from whole foods) BURDOCK (root Powder) APPLE CIDER VINEGAR PILL (one pill is like 1 1/2 tblspoons) thats the power trio that has done the trick. I feel like the tumeric is the main helper, I also starting adding it to my foods a bit too. and to assist the power trio I am also taking: ZINC an A3 +D3 capsule and a vitamin C fr general good measure I feel like this has cured it after 3 days. I can feel that its not forming anymore and isnt going to, you know that feeling that is on its way to the surface, and like you can touch your face . Thats finally gone ! Topically to speed up the process I use a sort of EPSOM SALT mask by mixing some epsom salt with water, applying it to my face with a cotton ball and letting that dry for at least 30 min then wash off. I also do the organic ACV at night sometimes topically and it seems to help with the remaining marks. If this plan of TUMERIC BURDOCK AND ACV pills continues to work I will be stoked. I will report back in in a couple days.
  14. Since I've had limited success with topicals I decided it's time to try a different route...vitamins! I collected some information from this forum and from googling and decided to buy: B-Complex [contains Riboflavin, Niacin, B6, B12, Pantothenic Acid] Vitamin A 10,000 IU Vitamin D3 1,000 IU
  15. I've suffered from mild/moderate acne for 10 years (23/F), and a friend of my mom's recently suggested a regimen that apparently worked wonders for her teenage son. It consists of Zinc, Pantothenic Acid, and a Rainbow Light Teen Multivitamin. I've been using Differin .1% cream for a little over 3 months (and I recently began applying it twice a day about a week ago) with minimal results, and I'm supposed to begin Accutane (this will be my 3rd round) in a month. Since Accutane is really a last resort for me, as nothing else has ever seemed to work, I was wondering if anyone has tried this combination and, if so, if it's been successful. I'm pretty wary of beginning a vitamin regimen since it can't be sustained for a prolonged period of time, but I'm willing to try this if it works. It seems a little fishy to me, especially since a "Teen Multivitamin" is involved and I'm 23, so I would also appreciate any info from those of you who are no longer teenagers (but any advice is welcome!!)

    coenzyme-A Theory

Hello everyone! Let's get back again theory that B5 coenzyme-A reduce oilness skin. Coenzyme-A is made of ATP (energy), cysteine, and pantothenic acid. Of these 3, pantothenic acid is the only one which is a vitamin and must be supplied through the diet. The other 2 are produced by the body. So if you supplement with pantothenic acid you create more Coenzyme-A in your body and your fats get metabolized. A lack of Coenzyme-A in the body means that fats don't get broken down. Instead, they get deposited in your sebaceous (oil) glands and get secreted as sebum (oil). Oil is a fat in liquid form. You get acne because the acne bacteria (Propionibacterium acne) in your pores feeds on this excess oil. But if you had no oil or very little oil in your pores, you would have no acne or very little acne. My point is why not to take Coenzyme-A supplement beside B5 with side effects??! I am now waiting finish my demodex program regime than gonno move diffrent program that suggest my doctors. So it is just interesthing Let's say if we take 10 gr B5 how much Coenzyme-A our body makes? So why not to take Co-A beside b5? I am interest in this supplement: Supplement Facts Serving Size 1 Servings Per Container 90 Capsules Amount Per Serving % Daily Value PROPRIETARY FORMULA 0 COENZYME A MODULATOR MATRIX I 1000 Mg Pantethine 0 Calcium Pyruvate 0 MAGNESIUM MALATE 100 Mg Acetyl L-Carnitine (HCL) 0 L-Cysteine (HCL MONOHYDRATE) 0 Pantothenic Acid (B-5) 80 Mg Calcium 41 Mg So what do you think about?

I just started taking B5 along with a B complex vitamin today and I have two questions. First, do I need to take more than the recommended one B complex a day and 2) should I not take the other vitamins I normally take? (zinc, niacin, and fish oil) The B complex has Vitamin C 300 mg 500% Thiamin 15 mg 1,000% Niacin 50mg 250% Vitamin B6 5 mg 250% Pantothenic Acid 10 mg 100% Any help is appreciated, thanks.
  19. Hi everybody! I would like to share my experience on how I got rid of my annoying acne problem for good. Maybe it is helpful for some of you as well.... Since acne can have many causes and I had been through most of the alternative and prescription meds (incl. accutane and antibiotics), I decided to approach my disease from several angles: - in case that it was caused by digestive problems I started eating prebiotics, such as sauerkraut, miso and kefir (probiotic supplements made my breakouts worse) - in case that it was caused by too much sebum production I took three times daily 1000mg pantothenic acid combined with 250mg l-carnitine (what resulted in smaller pores and no bumps anymore:)) - in case that it was caused by an inflammatory response I drank both morning and evening one table spoon of turmeric dissolved in warm water - in case that it was caused by unstable blood sugar I added cinnamon to my diet - I used an OTC a-vitamin face cream The process took about 3 months, and since then I was / am 100% acne free. I will continue with this regimen for sure, just less of the pantothenic acid and l-carnitine Hope this helps somebody else, too! ) ps....I prefer a vegan diet and don´t eat sugar often. Foods high in iodine still can make me get a bump or two, but only if I eat REALLY much of those.

Anyone experimented with these?
  21. Everybody has a different biological composition and everyone will react to acne regimens in their own way for someone might not be lacking what the next person is. So I think It's important I put my little story out there, because it might help 1 or 2 people. In late 2008, i found out about pantothenic acid on the internet.I bought it even though at that time, my acne had been sort of mild. To characterize my skin, it's safe to say its thick, cause these pores seem to go down forever. It's so oily that i cant even wear eyebrow liner because it slides off after 2 hours. I have a mix of Big red ones that are sore days before it pops out.White heads, Clogged pores, oily pores and SCARS. My skin has just always been like this, flunctuating between dull clearish skin and this combination acne i just listed. Anyways I bought like 6 jars of this stuff, took 1000mg X 10 everyday, and after 1 month, my skin was no longer oily, pores were tightened, and I experienced pretty clear skin for about 4-5 months.I had to stop because, I didnt have the money to continue at the time, i had expenses that kept me from dishing out the money for it. My skin stayed clear for about 3 months after i stopped taking the pills...which was nice.I told myself i was going to return to the regimen soon when i got the money to.Skin started getting bad again...went through a period of using topical things--Tea Tree Oil and i think i permanently ruined my skin with that stuff cus i used it pure and undiluted. After a month of using tea tree oil first on its own and then after making a mix w/ aloe, my skin was just not responding to ANYTHING anymore...and by late 2009 early 2010, it just--exploded. It was horrible. I felt like i was being attacked by zits, everywhere on my face of all different types and sizes.I had no social life for half a year. And also, my school has suffered..quite a bit because refusing to go to school + anxiety attacks over my skin. Well out of desperation i bought a second round of b5 bottles. While taking the introductory 5 pills a day, my skin continued to grow worse. I tried Tea Tree Oil Soap, worsened it.I tried grey clay soap, worsened it I tried pure vegetable glycerin soap, that worsened it too! These two soaps are suppose to be the biggest acne fighters! but they broke me out so bad!I thought that it was just my skin being the way it was not the soaps..so I panicked. I started reading things on this board about B 5 not working the second time, and also I ve read at least one post about b5 permanently worsening your acne.I decided to just stop witht he b5 even though i have all these extra bottles because i dont want to risk making my skin even harder to clear in the future. I bought oatmeal soap bar from the same company as the previous bars. Finally, it cleansed my skin without breaking me out.And it started to undo alittle bit of the previous damage. NOW, i am eating a few raw vegetables a day ( carrot/cucumber/mushrooms ) try to have freshly squeezed veggie/fruit juice, dont eat oily foods ( or else it seeps out my pores ) and there is a massive difference. And even though i still have some small scars, i look BETTER than when i was on B5 cause the raw veggies make your skin younger looking too, evens out your skin tone and the lines under my eyes are softer.Guys hit on me more than when i was on the b5. ALSO: i started taking a liquid multivitamin everyday--which is better absorbed than vitamin pills Things are looking up and I might actually be able to enjoy my summer this year and not stay at home hiding.!

    B5 Questions

I've been using 10 grams of pantothenic acid a day for over a week now. When I started my skin seemed to be very less oily. Infact, it seemed to be clearing up dramatically. It's now day 9 and my skin is breaking out and it feels oily again. I'm not sure if this is due to an initial breakout or perhaps the effectiveness is just wearing off very quickly. Maybe I'm one of the few who won't be treated successfully with B5. When should the initial breakout occur? If I resume the treatment will I eventually see pantothenic acid's benefits? Am I just experiencing the initial breakout right now? Also i've been pooping liquid for about four days, is that normal as well? Should I be concerned or is that just normal? I'm aware that diarrhea is a side effect but it has been quite consistent. What should I do? Should I continue and do you think i'll have success if I do?
  24. I am making this thread to consolidate together information about using pantothenic acid plus methionine to very successfully treat acne. I myself have had acne for a little over 10 years and this treament regimen has worked better on a consistent basis than anything else I have ever tried. You kind find all the details here http://elqalatawy.hubpages.com/hub/Acne-Cure-Guarantee. I am using the pantothenic acid + cysteine (or methionine) method, and I'm currently using methionine. While I suppose it is possible that there may be some people that this solution won't work for, I have tried many, many things in the past and this has shown the best consistent results. If anyone has tried any of these solutions before, please post about your experiences here, and don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have. I have tried several other b5 based products (as well as many other things), so I feel like I at least have a fair amount of experience using things based around it, and should be able to provide some help.
  25. i personally think it is crazy to take 10 grams of something to try and rid acne. I don't think its crazy to try and rid acne (cause i would do anything to get rid of it), but taking such high doses doesn't seem very smart. After reading about pantethine (the active form of B-5), i'm wondering why people aren't trying it instead of b5? From what ive read, you get a better effect with a lot less to no side effects. Because you only have to take around 900 mg or so of pantethine, there will be no adverse side effects. Has anyone tried pantethine that had no success with b5? or if you never used b5 but are having success with pantethine please share. I'm just curious as to why people are using this supplement that seems like a much healthier avenue than b5 2SG
