  1. I was just diagnosed with mild-moderate cystic acne, and I am trying to get pregnant. Because of this, my doctor is really reluctant (for good reason) to put me on medication/hormonal therapy for it. I was wondering what OTC or natural products you guys use to keep cystic acne under control. Any suggestions are gladly appreciated!!
  2. Hi folks, has anyone tried a new product called epiology? It uses natural bioactive proteins and has some quite good reviews on the website epiologyskincare.com
  3. I have had acne since I was 12, and after decades of OTCs, expensive prescriptions, dermabrasions ( three to be exact), and a face lift, I can honestly tell you what may be the best possible solution to rid yourself of daily erruptions. I won't go into the long details of what hasn't worked, just to fast forward to what I have found that does!! The very BEST over the counter products I have, and still do use, are Old Grandpas sulphur soap, Bye Bye Blemish (sulpur based drying lotion, not reall
  4. So I've been using Dan's BP for a little over a year now. It's been the best thing for my acne that I've ever tried - but recently, after a year of clear skin, I've been experiencing minor spots and other types of minor acne. It's not that noticeable and for the most part my skin is clear, but what's disturbing is that they keep coming back. Here's the type of acne that I'm getting right now (it's different from when I first started the regimen) SPOTS: Reddish pink spots that are typically und
  5. Warning: This is a long post. I wrote this post to talk about my skin journey and to show others that it does get better! It is a long post, and is very detailed in order to help people get an understanding of this treatment route and the effects of it! Back Story Last year, I had been contemplating on taking accutane as a last resort to get rid of my stubborn acne. I had literally tried everything including OTC products containing BP and SA, LUSH products, proactiv,
  6. Hello everyone, I am new to this forum. I have not purchased any of the products that this website offers, but I needed a community of people that were dealing with a similar struggle. And with all of my searches for acne/acne scar treatments, acne.org seemed to pop-up repeatedly and I thought I'd sign up. I'm sure my post isn't the first and I apologize if I didn't post it in the right spot. But anyway, I guess I will give a brief history of my acne struggle. Basically, acne runs in my
  7. 20/m I've had no luck in clearing my acne. It's not awful, but my overall complection is. Right now I've been using: Morning: Neutrogena Deep Action Cream Cleanser (applied with Olay Pro X Cleansing System) Walgreen's generic moisturizer. Ambi Fade Cream (oily skin) Neutrogena On-The-Spot 2.5% BP Night: Neutrogena Deep Action Cream Cleanser (applied with Olay Pro X Cleansing System) Walgreen's generic moisturizer Walgreen's Alpha Hydroxy 8% AHA Ambi Fade Cream (oily skin)
  8. So is there actually any difference if I buy an OTC benzoyl peroxide as supposed to the one in the regimen? I mean, at the end of the day, they're still both BP's right? Lets say an OTC BP with a concentration of 2.5% or 5% compared to the Regimen's BP.
  9. I'm writing this blog to document my own experiences with a topical product called Vitastem. It was recommended to by a physician friend who was seeing amazing results in psoriasis and eczema patients, and said I should give it a try for my persistent, cystic acne. About me: I'm mid-30s and a lifelong acne sufferer. First cystic breakouts were in high school, on my back - I still have scarring. At that time tried benzoyl peroxide then oral antibiotics but in the end the only thing that actual
  10. So I have been using Murad’s sulfur mask since freshman year of college. It used to seem to help when I was on both birth control and antibiotics but I don’t notice a super big difference anymore in terms of helping with acne. Since I started using benzoyl peroxide I feel like the mask contributes to overdrying. Does anyone else feel like masks are pointless? What are your thoughts? I know people who do them every once in a while and others who do use them everyday. Since you wash them off does
  11. I've been using Benzac AC 5% BP for more than 10 weeks now and while it's done an amazing job controlling my acne, I still break out. Right now My forehead, left cheek, and chin are clear but my right cheek has 5 actives (small but visible). Is 10% really not a good option? I've read that 10% BP's are way too harsh, is it true? How about if I just use it as a spot treatment after using 5% for my whole face?
  12. Right, so I've been waiting to get my new lot of BP cream (Acnecide) since December with no prevail, so I've done some research. Apparently, most, if not all BP products have now been discontinued. I've looked around and if you're lucky you can find a few different creams being sold on Ebay or Amazon but for a pretty hefty price. Is anyone else fearing the worst for this or have any news? I have about two weeks worth of cream left and to me, it's a countdown before I revisit hell. BP is the only
  13. I decided to try benzoyl peroxide for the first time in my life last night. I was kind of reluctant to use bp because it dries out the skin but the weird thing is it didn't dry me out. Did I not use enough? I was expecting my skin to dry like what all of the reviews say so I bought a moisturizer (something that I don't actually use). I'm confused? I didn't even touch the moisturizer because I didn't need to. It's Benzac AC BP if you guys wanna know.
  14. I have decided to start using benzoyl peroxide again... after a really bad run. (I know it seems stupid, but I didn't do well sticking to my treatment.) I have a few questions and am thankful for any help I can receive. 1) When do I stop using benzoyl peroxide gel on a pimple? (It appears I've gotten some pimples to stop being swelled up, but now that they're dried out do I continue applying the gel? It seems like the pimples start to break out again once I do so, but maybe this is normal?
  15. Hello all, I have some legitimate questions regarding using a chemical peel. So, first off, some background- 18, male, 155 lbs, very active bodybuilder with moderate acne/scars/red marks. I am also a fair skinned Caucasian. Now, I've ordered a beginner level chemical peel, containing 15% TCA gel and 5% salicylic acid from Amazon, which is meant to be used at home. I'm not concerned about it being on my face, but I have heard a great deal of controversy regarding using chemical peels on the bac
  16. Hey all I was hoping I wouldn't have to be in this position again, but here I am I recently came off Accutane 40mg/day for 7 months. During the treatment I was clear around 3 or 4 months in, however 4 months post treatment I am staring to break out again and it appears to be getting worse. To be honest I don't think my dosage wasn't high enough, hence the early relapse. I understand that your skin may respond differently do topicals after a course of accutane. My options are: 1
  17. Hi everyone. I've been dealing with acne since I was about thirteen years old. It started off pretty severe and then cooled down and then ramped back up right during my high school and college days. I have mild scarring/unevenness of my skin yet within the last few months I've found a regimen that has kept me clear longer than anything has since I started this journey. I came across a post (either on the website or another) that mentioned the cold sore treatment campho-phenique as a to
  18. My Acne & Rosacea Regimen (Including diet, supplements, training, etc as I believe everything is connected) My name is Aaron, I'm 23, and I have had acne (face & torso) and rosacea for going on 10 years now. I currently have no large acne lesions and only a couple small pimples under my jaw, but up until recently I have had a lot of painful cystic acne on both my face and body that has left me with a lot of scarring. I've tried a lot of different prescriptions and over-the-counter c
  19. i am 14 years old and as of a month ago my acne was at a very bad place. i had HUGE pimples on my nose (atleast 3) and they were seriously visible. i have tiny inflamed spots on both of cheeks and regular sized ones as well. the sides of my mouth were with pimples as well. my forehead and around my hairline had inflamed spots as well. to put it all together, my face looked horrible. i was so insecure i even leave the house. i have tried things ever over the counter treatment here possibly is: be
  20. Hello all. From my understanding (and please do tell me if I'm wrong) Differin can be purchased in the US over-the-counter. I'm coming to the States from Canada in a few weeks, and I was wondering if I would be able to purchase it there and bring it across the border with me. (Google has been no help.) To get adapalene in the Great White North, you need a prescription, and it is VERY costly, so this would save me a lot of money. So yes, the question: can I bring it across the border? Or is
  21. Alright guys, I'm coming to you because I know you know best! What is the BEST salicylic acid face wash out there?? Just so everyone knows, my face can't tolerate BP, so there's no use mentioning it as much as I would love to use it! Thank you in advance Xo
  22. First, quick background. I am 35 years old, I've had serious acne since I was 13 or 14. I have tried every OTC product, in nearly every combination, as well as several homebrew treatments, prescriptions, and even dietary changes. I have gone so far to to use bleach on my face. This is the first and only thing I have found that has eliminated 100% of my acne wherever I apply it, and it's CHEAP! It may not work for everyone, but it works for me, so I have to share. Disclaimer: I have incred
  23. Hi! I'm a 16 year-old girl that has been struggling with acne since I was 12. I've tried Differin, Clearasil, Proactiv, Neutrogena, and Clean and Clear. So far, none of these products have actually helped with my acne. My dermatologist said that my acne was Grade II I've seen and heard about a lot of success stories having to do with Accutane...would that help? I'd also like the know about the chances of it actually curing my acne. (I have pictures in my Gallery)
  24. I've finished my second week on Ortho Tri Cyclen (the light blue ones and I'm three dark blue pills into my third week) and I have noticed a couple things. I've definitely put on some weight [ ], but idk I seem to look a little curvier which I kind of like. I have a couple whiteheads around my chin, which aren't really too bad. HOWEVER, I have a huge, painful, cyst under my bottom lip and it's just horrid. I have a second cyst on my jaw, but it's not as painful nor as big as the one under my bot
  25. Hi everyone, So I used to have really awful acne of this sort about 3 years ago, but my birth control OTC has done a good job at maintaining my skin lately. I've been on it about 2.5 years. over the last month I've started breaking out around my chin and jaw area with the same type of acne as before. I've just been prescribed clindoxyl and have only been using it for about a week. So far I like it but haven't seen any real improvement (I know I have to wait much longer though!) I also ju
