  1. I've been desperate to get help on this forum for the past two months and no one has answered me. I have moderate-severe acne that I believe is hormonal but I honestly have no idea what is going on with my skin or my body, I am losing faith in all of these methods and attempts to figure my skin out and it is worsening my depression. I can't leave the house without makeup and am severely self conscious. My situation: I had been using tretinoin 0.025 and benzo-clin (some sort of benzoyl peroxi
  2. I love Accutane / Isotretinoin. To make things simple, I posted my story in Acne.org under the blog section. I hope I can help someone with my story! http://www.acne.org/messageboard/blog/7979/entry-29321-sores-to-soaring-i-love-accutane/
  3. 1. Type of Progestin Every birth control uses progestin (a synthetic form of the progesterone hormone). There are many different types of progestin. It is very important that the type of progestin is LOW in androgenic activity, meaning it doesn't send your testosterone into overdrive and create acne. Here is a list to help choose a birth control. Neutral (won't affect acne either way) No hormones. Copper Paraguard IUD Good (can reduce acne) Drospirenone. Anti-androgenic. Used in Yaz, Yas
  4. I love Accutane / Isotretinoin. I was on it 2 times. My younger bother was on it 3 times. Now, my son is on it (Absorica). I'm a holistic eco-nature nerd. I've tried EVERYTHING. I learned to judge kindly and that there are no absolutes. There is also a lot of ignorance out there. Post Accutane, I've been on Ortho Tri-Cyclen and I'm currently on Spironolactone. I decided, since my son is now on Accutane (Absorica), it was time to tell my story. I've BEEN THROUGH IT ALL!!! I had me
  5. Hi everyone, My acne: Mild/Moderate, adult-onset, mainly on sides of nose and between eyebrows, with a ton of closed comedones on my cheeks. Occasional painful large pimples on cheeks from those comedones. 28 years old. I have finally accepted that I need to give birth control a fair shot for my acne. I have been told by more than one dematologist that my adult-onset acne is due to hormones, and topicals will only help so much until I go on birth control. After a year of using retinoi
  6. Edit- Sorry, I meant for this to be in the Hormonal Acne forum... I reposted it there and I don't want to cross-post, but I don't seem to be able to delete. 7. I was on Diane 35 for around 8 months, super happy with the results. I have always struggled with hormonal acne. Though my dermatologist wasn't concerned about the health risks because I'm pretty active, I asked to switch knowing the long term risks. She put me on ortho tri-cyclen. I just finished my first cycle and I'm very upset about my skin. I went from having no pimples and only minor acne scarring (that I worked so hard to get it from severe/moderate to mild!!), to having developed 3 cysti
  8. I was tempted to post this as a blog, but figured I get more responses here (hopefully). I need the opinion of some sensible people. I have a horrible habit of misdiagnosing myself with things I don't actually have, so I'm going to ask you guys first before I go running to the doctor begging for solutions. I've been on Ortho Tri-Cyclen for 1.5 months now. I think I'm losing my hair... and I associate it completely with Ortho Tri-Cyclen as I started noticing lots of hair loss in the shower
  9. Hi there! I started taking birth control (Alesse) in October, but my face had completely broken out with cystic acne within a month. (I rarely had any kind breakouts prior ro this). My doctor then decided to put me on Ortho Tri-cyclen in November and I've been taking it since then. It's been nearly 3 months now, but aside from it clearing up some of the acne on my cheeks within the first month, I still have a lot of bumps and pimples around my mouth that do not seem to be getting any better.
